Nah!! They actually think the DIS boards is one of my saner pastimes.

Congratulations Dawn!

So, even though I swore I wouldn't read it this time around, I was flipping through What to Expect again, and it makes references to stuffiness, insomnia, and migraines. No real remedies...just states that they're all related to pregnancy (duh!).

I had been napping almost every day, but I've realized these past couple of nights, that I'm waking up around 4 a.m. (to pee, of course) and it's taking me a long time to fall back to sleep. I'm also dreaming a lot, which doesn't make me feel well-rested. The book suggested cutting out the nap and heading to bed earlier.

I had a terrible week-long migraine when I was pregnant with Alyssa and my doctors actually prescribed me a generic version of vicadin. That knocked it out and for what ever reason, the migraine never returned. Until today, that is. Same as you...my left temple is throbbing. I'm hoping it's related to the fact I've been a single-mother with all of Kevin's meetings this week, but if it persists, I will be calling my doctors. Headaches are no fun.

I know you're a worrier, Dawn, but try your best to just take one day at a time. Nourish yourself with water and healthy meals, but don't forgo your favorite snacks. Ask for help...you can't go, go, go in this state. Let the laundry pile up a little. ;)

You know we love you and we're here for anything you need!

Amy :)

All I remember is that Amy apparently needs another manilla folder for some new kid on the block?

I just found out that my daughter has a folder of pictures of James & Oliver (Fred & George Weasley from Harry Potter). I had no idea that she had this. I think it is funny that I just read about folders of pictures today and then find out she has one that she's been collecting for years. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Someone please (honestly) tell me this is normal.

This is normal! Your hormones are messed up and everything is magnified. I can't tell you how much a second child can enhance the love in all your lives. I had all the same worries. Just make sure your oldest is involved and feels included in the "blessing" and they will welcome the new addition with open arms.

Congratulations!!! This is wonderful news.

Hey Denise and Amy ---- guess what we tried for the very first time???

did it live up to your expectations - or had they hyped it too much?

although I am going to have to guess that the airport did not present you with the highest quality chick-fil-a!!!

Congrats, Dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the sleeping, ask your doctor about an OTC med called Melatonin. Rees' Neurologist told us to give it to him (he had a horrible time sleeping due to brain issues). It is the natural hormone your body makes to help you sleep and rest. We get it at GNC. He takes 4mg a night, and it really helps him relax and get into a deeper stage of sleep (not so restless).

As far as the migraines and stuffiness, your body is increasing the fluid volume in your body 3x the normal amt for the baby. That makes all blood vessels swell and increases migraines and stuffiness. It can get better as the pg progresses. In the mean time, try using Vicks vapor rub, those nose strips, a cool mist humidifier, sleeping propped up. Also keep taking the tylenol even when you're not hurting to help prevent one. I'd mention this to your OB and tell him it's past annoying to see if he can give you a prescription. I took prescription migraine meds while pg with no problems.

As far as relaxing, I suggest trying a prenatal yoga or pilates type class. They are very relaxing and great for reducing stress and tension. You could also put on soothing music and meditate/relax for a few minutes per day. Prop your feet up, put on a good movie, and relax!

As far as worries, it is so common to have all those feelings. Part of being pg is over analyzing it all and worrying. That's why we're mothers! Sending you hugs and most importantly

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my experience, from malls to airports to stand alone restaurants, there is no such thing as poor quality Chick-a-lick!!!! :teeth:

YUMMY! Chick a lick! The kids' favorite (mine too!). Did you love it?

Are you kidding me?????
I live in a little small town where you cannot spit without hitting aChick-fil-a and Marti and Skunka eat there on vacation!?!?!?!?!?!?! :confused3

My rule is when we are out of town we cannot eat anywhere that has a location in Florence!!! (except if we are on the road, then Wendy's is ok!!)

:lmao:

Simply the best place to get a fried chicken sandwich, waffle fries and homemade lemonade! Delicious!!!

Amy :)

You are all going to laugh at me (what else is new??) but my stomach was so messed up from traveling (always does get "funny") that Paul had it and I took just one bite. Paul loved it so much that he went back for a second! I did try the fries and I thought they were very good. I just wish my stomach was feeling better because I really wanted one!! But they only had a pickle on it -- can you get lettuce and tomato??

Working on a quick trip report -- just a forewarning, it involves lots of Dole Whips (and you wonder why my stomach was nuts???)

Chick Fil A is a delicious fast food restaurant. They have chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, chicken nuggets, salads, fabulous coleslaw, sweet tea, and homemade lemonade. The food is yummy and addictive!

Our best friends just moved to Oregon, and they are miserable without it. We actually ship it to them on dry ice!

Poor Marti and Paul are deprived of Chick-fil-a in New York! We've talked about it so much, they had to try it! :teeth:

Dawn --
CONGRATULATIONS!

I remember each time after trying to get pregnant and finding out we were succesful thinking -- Oh My Gosh -- what am I going to do now -- what was I thinking blah, blah, blah. I think your reactions are perfectly natural. Baths are really relaxing for me, so I second trying that, but my doctor warned against too hot a bath. Even just a warm bath relaxed me. For your stuffy nose, shut yourself in the bathroom, sitting on a chair beside the shower and let it steam up real well. Or, see if any of your friends/family have a facial steamer -- that works well for my stuffiness, too.

I remember dropping my oldest off at pre-school the day I went in to labor. I actually started crying, because I felt guilty that he would have to share our love. Everyone told me it was just my hormones in overdrive and they were right. I found I had plenty of love to go around, and Andrew dearly loves his younger brother, at least most of the time. I found many good suggestions for helping a sibling adjust to a baby, and am happy to pass those along.

I hope you get more sleep tonight -- that will make a big difference -- so, here's wishing you sweet dreams!
