My first thought when I read the Michael Jackson story was...first he wanted to be white and now he wants to be a girl? :lmao:

Just let them cry. As painful as it is for you, you gotta do it.

I agree, DD cried for about 1 hour the first night we decided to leave her, about 15 minutes the next night and the 3rd she made a couple of noises and decided it wouldn't help so went strait to bed and has loved her sleep since.
Did the same with DS and worked like a charm, it is harder on the parents than the kids.

Okay y'all I have given in to the DDA. I've bought my PhotoImpact *ouch* on the price and I'm about to install it. I just wanted to memorialize my installation, since I fully expect either my computer to melt down under the new strain or conversly not melt down and I'll never be seen or heard from by my family again because I'll be doing this. Or lastly, I'll never figure out this program and I'll have to hide in shame forever. So here at the home of the DDA, I throw myself on the mercy of the computer gods and hope for some pixie dust!

Is it too much? The husband is giving me the eyeball like I'm going crazy. Is this how it starts???? :lmao:

Does this mean I can let go of my fear of embarassment and watch it? I was tempted the other day, but talked myself out of it as being too old. Now I'm just going to have to watch it. :)

Go for it. You won't be sorry!!

Remember when I told you all that I had Ricky Schroder manilla folders? Well, before that, I had a whole WALL dedicated to Michael Jackson. And some pictures had great images of him on both sides, so I used a hole punch to punch a hole and tie a ribbon to the pic, so I could flip it and see both sides. :rotfl:

My children are destined to be freaks like me, aren't they?!! :rolleyes1

Amy :)

P.S. Kate, congratulations on 5000. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks amy!!

to think I was embarassed to admit I had ONE picture of him in my locker!! :rotfl2:

Yes she will - one day she will realize she has an addiction and need help = and we will not do anything but suck her in more!!!

All this talk about High School Musical brings up a running theme in our house.

Cassidy (13) is constantly talking about a boy in her class  ...."Jake loves this Disney show, Jake and I were just talking about this Disney movie.....yada yada...Jake".

I asked her point blank if Jake is her boyfriend a couple of times....no but it would be nice is her answer. Now I never did get into Middle School romances but if you talk to a boy EVERY day wouldn't he be considered a boyfriend? :confused3

I told her to invite him over for dinner and disney some night (we have done this in the past for some of her friends that were boys)...she's mortified that I would embarass her.

A teenage boy that loves Disney as much as this boy seems to, couldn't be bad could he? :rotfl:

If you ever get this figured out, please let me know. I have a DD17 and a DD20. The DD20 has only ever had 2 boyfriends according to her (one when she was 15 and one now). However, she had about 10 different guys that she was "seeing exclusively" (not even sure if that is the right term) for different lengths of time but they were NOT boyfriends. I still don't know what the difference is. Then there are the guy friends that she talks about constantly which she still swears they have never been more than very good friends (in some cases much to her dismay).

The DD17 has had several boyfriends that she didn't even go out with. They just saw each other at school. A couple lasted 2 or 3 days. She did have one last a year (she is 17-1/2). A boy talks to her and says he likes her and they consider themselves boyfriend & girlfriend.

I don't get it!!!

Okay. I've opened the box. The manual is so BIG! I've actually started sweating. This is so stupid. At least I found a $30 rebate. Rebates always cheer me up.

Have you all actually read the manual? I can tell this is going to take awhile. I've got my Curves book to read too. And I suppose I really should earn a living at some point? Might be nice to pay the bills, lose weight and have a DDA hobby! As opposed to have a DDA hobby, gain weight and get my house foreclosed on. :rotfl2:

Whew! Thanks to everyone who is chiming in with the airfare support (I still feel silly stressing over it with the events going on in the other DDA lives  )

I am trying my best to be patient, but since we are flying before Christmas I don't have the highest hopes that airfares will come down at the end. Not to say they are at their lowest point now, but I have a number in my head and when it gets there- BAM- I'm taking 'em!

Have a nice day everyone!!

PS: When are Paul and Marti coming back? I need a song to hum along to today :rolleyes1

Check Clarkhoward.com for airfares and see what suggestions he has.

Tammi -

it is EXACLTY like grease - they meet out of town - she transfers to his school - their friends don't want them together - even the Finale will remind you of grease!! maybe that is why I love it!!

I don't know anything about Nanny McPhee - but I have a thing about teeth - so there is NO WAY I could ever watch it!!!

You know I never made that connection before but you are 100% right. That is probably why I like it too. Grease came out the summer before my senior year in high school. I had met my boyfriend (a long distance relationship) at a college government program that summer. We were from different schools (3 hours apart) but fell "madly in love" and wrote to each other every day (yes, we mailed a long 4-8 page letter every day) for a year. We even knew how many pieces of paper we could fit in the envelope with only one stamp. Grease came out shortly after that and was "our" show.

2-3 nights I might be able to tough through but 2 weeks :scared1: . I'm not sure I could make it. I will talk to DH and see if he wants to try and see if this works. :confused3 Thank you Tammi and Deb.

I REALLY recommend this book to teach kids to sleep along with many other different problems:
The Baby Whisperer Solves all your Problems by Tracy Hogg.
Also check her site: http://www.babywhisperer.com/
There's even a message board and chat room to help you with your problem. I followed her technique and my kids slept through the night at 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks the last one because she was a little premature.
Hope this helps. :goodvibes

It works but if you give in then you start all over again, it is hard not to give in but 'life is hard' you child will not know and my kids think it's cool that we did that to get them to sleep. :goodvibes :wizard:

And now she is truly becoming a Disney Design Addict. :rotfl2: My family think I'm crazy. Luckily, I have a laptop with a wireless connection to the internet so I can sit in the living room with the family while I'm feeding my addiction. Welcome to the club!!!! Here's some pixie dust to get you started. :wizard:

Nick was always a good sleeper - I learned my lesson about babying him with Julia - but he threw himself out of the crib at 11 months - by 18 months he was regularly jumping out - for his own safety I had to put him in the big boy bed - he has not transitioned well and I always end up babying him - now he seems to like sleeping on our floor - which to me is a step up from the bed!! Maybe it is time I try tough love!! Problem with him (and Julia) is that they have the willpower to cry for over an hour and both of them usually end up throwing up!!

DD also used to make herself throw up and in we would rush, bath her change the linen and feel guilty, then we smartened up, she threw up, cried for the hour and that was the last of the throw up, 3 nights and she was sleeping thru the night.

Hope you get over it soon. Make sure you let the Sprite go flat before you drink it.

My grandfather always swore by Coke syrup! He would spoon it down us, and it always seemed to work. Now I just keep caffeine free diet Coke on hand for when the kids are feeling icky! See, I'm getting them hooked on diet Coke while they're young! Grandpa always said there was something in the syrup that was very settling. I could never stand the taste of Sprite or 7-Up, but the Coke always seemed to do the trick!

Hope you're feeling better soon, Kate.

Anyone know anything about the new monsters inc ride at DL? I was just reading a review but couldn't work out if it was a ride ride - or a peter pan / winnie the pooh type ride?

My SIL and her family went to DL over Christmas and rode it a lot! They loved it. She says it's a dark ride like the DL Peter Pan. She didn't give any other details, but I'll let you know when I get back from DL in June. I'm sure, though, that someone will be able to answer your question sooner than I can. I'm excited to ride it, though! Anything has to be better than the horrible Superstar Limo.
