Nope. We had some drama around here today. One of Alan's hard drives (he has several to hold his freelance work) crashed with an incomplete project for a client on it. It wouldn't be so bad, except he can't find the tapes that have the raw video on them. So, basically, on a $5000.00 project, we are SOL. I don't know what he's going to do. He's been trying for hours to get the data off the hard drive, but it's not working. I've been tearing the house apart to look for the tapes, but they are not here! It's been frustrating. Hopefully the client will be understanding and let Alan shoot the video again!

So, no walking for me today. I think I'll plan on it for after Church tomorrow. I'll let you know.

And now, I'm off to bed. I need to finish reading "The Kite Runner," but I'm really caught up in "Size 12 is not Fat." I'm going to read a couple chapters of each book before drifting off to Disney dreams.

Oh No, I hope I read later that all worked out andyou found the tapes or got the stuff off the computer.

I have a really dumb question -- how did you change the pages to the size you need? I have really cute 8x8 EK Mickey scrapbooks that I'm using. For our last trip, I took 3D EK Disney stickers and put those on colored cardstock. It worked well to use a clipboard as Kate suggested and have them signed. The problem was, since the stickers weren't flat, they took up a lot of room. Plus, there aren't a lot of those stickers, so some of the characters signed on blank pages and I have to find clip art to put on their pages. It would be much easier to print all the pages out with the art on them, but I'm photoshop illiterate. Is there an easy solution?
I used photoshop and when I opened it, instead of printing it like it was I went to print preview, which is where I could resize it.

I used Kate's suggestion and put only the pages, a small clipboard and a sharpie in a gallon size ziplock bag, one for each kid. I took those to the park with me each day, in the backpack. After a page was signed it was left in the room. Then when I got home I organized each into a scrapbook. I found appliques at Michaels that I put on the front cover.

Those books look so good, Tammi! I bet your kids love them! Kate has some good ideas, eh? I did the same thing for my neighbors. I put their pages, a clipboard and a Sharpie in a baggie for each kid. It made it really easy for them while they were there.

Despite Planetary Diss, Disney Gives Props to Pluto

By Natalie Finn

The planets may be out of alignment, but Disney is sticking by Pluto.

In response to the news Thursday that a team of astronomers had demoted the icy little sphere to "dwarf planet" status, the Seven Dwarfs themselves took time off from hacking away in the diamond mines and romancing Snow White to issue this statement, via their friends at Walt Disney World Resort:

"Although we think it's Dopey that Pluto has been downgraded to a dwarf planet, which has made some people Grumpy and others just Sleepy, we are not Bashful in saying we would be Happy if Disney's Pluto would join us as an eighth dwarf. We think this is just what the Doc ordered and is nothing to Sneeze at."

Mickey Mouse's dog and best pal, Pluto first appeared in 1930 in the Disney cartoon The Chain Gang, as a bloodhound unleashed to find escaped felon Mickey. To this day, he wears neither clothes nor gloves and has prompted endless discussion as to why only Goofy is capable of walking upright and speaking.

Pluto the dog's debut came the same year his namesake heavenly body was discovered orbiting the sun 3 billion miles away. The shadowy mass was deemed the ninth planet in the solar system and was named after the Roman god of the underworld.

"I think the whole thing is goofy," Disney said through its rep, Mickey Mouse. "Pluto has never been interested in astronomy before, other than maybe an occasional howl at the moon."

So, although a Caltech astronomer told the Los Angeles Times that "Pluto's out," the canine version will always be top dog at Disney.

That is, he'll be the top dog at Disney who doesn't speak and who walks on four legs. Sorry, Goofy.

Love it!!! Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for asking, Amy. She's no better, but no worse. PT was in today, and she couldn't bear her weight, so I'm not sure where we go from here. I don't think the neurologist came in yesterday as the doctor said he would, so maybe we will find out more tomorrow. It's so upsetting seeing her like this. She shakes from the massive amounts of steroids, and she talks out of her head from the massive amounts of pain killers. I should buy stock in Zantac, as much as I've been going through lately. If it weren't for my DH and my DDA friends, I would be in much worse shape. I appreciate all of your good thoughts and prayers, and having a place to vent when I need to. Pictures of all of your cute kids also bring smiles to my face. Keep them coming!

Marci - I'll continue to pray for your mother! This is a hard thing, but hopefully the therapy will get better. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: for all of you!

Thanks, Glynis and Kelli. The kids do love them. They stay out in the family room and every so often I catch them looking through them.

The way I read drives Alan crazy! He can't stand it! In the bedroom I'm reading "The Kite Runner" (nope, didn't finish it last night), in the living room I'm reading "Size 12 is Not Fat," and in the office I'm reading "Writing Down the Bones." I just hate to be without a book. In the car, I usually have a book as well, but I haven't taken one out for a while. I do have about 3 magazines though.

I don't understand how I keep them all straight, but I do. Poor Alan, he thinks I'm nuts. Well, I am, but he doesn't have to know that, right? My daughter Katie is the same way. She's usually reading 2 or 3 books at the same time. Must be heriditary(sp?)

There are times when I can do two or three books at a time...and sometimes I can only do one. Emma and Summer Lovin are my two right now...I can't do two thinker books at a time....the fluffs I can do up to 4 at a time.

Nope. Consensus from the computer experts is that the hard drive is fried and there is no retrieving the data. The tapes are gone (probably the same place as all my missing socks), so we're back to square one. Alan is getting ready to meet with the client tomorrow to explain and start over.

Ah gee guys thanks so much for thinking of me - you just had me in hysterics with those posts!

But I think we may both have killed you if you'd phoned... late night calls are usually of the variety that give you a heart attack when the phone rings...

Usually we can book our trips a year out so this free dining offer would ROCK!

However, next year we have to work around study dates and other Blah things so we probalby can't book until 07 itself... just TYPICAL!!!

So I'll end up sitting around waiting for a free dining code with y'all!

Do you think this is karma because I said I wanted to be an American... :rolleyes1:

No dear, it's because that's Murphy's law.
I sure hope it works out when you do book.

Thanks. I'll do some research! I need all the help I can get.

If you figure it out, would you mind passing them on to me?

I'm always telling people I've got a novel stuck in my head...it just can't seem to come out.

I had to take a writing class, but the focus was more on poetry and genres you don't normally think of. The rest of my classes were, like yours, lit.

I finished the ballet skirt!!!!!!! It has taken way to long and I so do not want to make another ANY time soon. The darn jewels on the tulle under the first layer has caused me SOOOOOOO many problems. Anyway here it is.

I started a thread asking about autograph books/pages and I figured I should show you all what I was talking about.
I used Vicki's, Clare's and one other person (off the top of my head I can't remember the designer) autograph pages.
The plan is to use the memory book I bought at Michael's, it hold picture size 5X7. I took out the pages and bought index cards size 5X8, had the office Depot folks "drill" (that's what they called it) holes in the cards.
I have printed out the desgins to about 6 3/4 X 4 3/4 give or take a little.

My goal is to use these books over and over again. I will cover the front in Disney fabric and keep the plastic cover on them so the fabric stays nice.

I hope this works, it seems to look like it will. I also plan to have mnay different pages of the same character (we have seen Belle and Cinderella three times in one trip and they can't sign the same pages now can they).

Anyone willing to share the pages they have made, I am very happy to take a copy.

So far the girls love the idea and can't wait to show Daddy.

Now the pictures.......

The outside of the book

I'm off for a while. We are having dinner (it smells so good! Sweet potato curry), then we're having brownies and ice cream while we watch our family movie. Tonight's feature is Wallace and Gromet: the curse of the Were Rabbit. I haven't seen it, but Alan promises me that the kids will like it.

I'll be back on when it's over!

So did they like it?

My girls liked it when we saw it last year. I spent the time being the only adult in the audience giggling over the little bits they had put in to keep the grownups entertained.

Good Morning,

I've got a quick question before I head out to work, I'm putting together a Power Point Presentation of our last trip, and I'm trying to find a good song to play at the beginning. I had "When you Wish Upon a Star" but it really is too slow for what I wanted. Any suggestions?

PS - it's gotta be Disney

Chat with you later,

Debbie

Brother Bear has a song .......Welcome to our Family time, Welcome to our happy to be time, blah blah blah. We love it and it's upbeat.
