The day before you leave on your WDW vacation are you...

Frankly me pre-vacation stress is almost exclusively work related. I rarely if ever get a vacation of any kind that doesn't end up featuring two weeks of full bore jamming at work beforehand.

Once I get home and get 10 minutes to pack ... no issues at all.

Disney Eve is always a very busy (long) day for us. For this next trip, DH and I will both be working 12 shifts. I'm going to drop the animals off for boarding on my way in to work and he's going to stop and pick up subs on his way home. Generally, we're always packed except for last minute items like toiletries, hairbrushes, etc. This trip we have to get up at 3 a.m. for our flight so we'll go to bed earlier than normal, whether or not we'll get extra sleep is a different matter!

The only somewhat stressful part of the night before any vacation is the inevitable argument I will have with DH about his insane need to overpack. It goes like this EVERY SINGLE YEAR:

Me: Why are you bringing 3 extra shirts?
DH: I might spill something on myself.
Me: You can bring 1 extra shirt. If you spill that much, we'll start putting a bib on you.

Me: Who needs 12 pair of underwear for a 5 day trip?
DH: Just in case.
Me: When was the last time you crapped your pants?
DH: <looks at me in defeat>
Me: You can bring 1 extra pair. If you have some weird pants crapping episode, we'll go to the store and buy you more.

This goes on and on with similar discussions over his shoes, pants and socks. It's really more comical than stressful. I just don't get the need to pack like he's going to be gone for a month when we will be gone for a week.

Lol!!! I just spit out a mouthful of pepperette!!! Lol!!!

In spite of our best efforts, we are usually packing for the entire trip that night. My wife works upstate one weekend a month. Somehow we always manage to leave the Monday after. So it's a Sunday night of chaos. We have a toddler, so we can't start until he's in bed. The older one runs around like a lunatic- but also does his best to help.

Interesting twist. On our last trip, it just happened to be right after "Disney Week" on the Travel Channel, so we had those "Inside Disney" specials as a backdrop to the chaos. They are fun to watch, but are SO much better when you know you'll be part of it in less than 24 hours :)

Heh, high five. We've got one just as early as that and we're probably going to go pancake ourselves into oblivion at ihop at 2.

I usually get everything done about a week before. A quick tidy-up of the house and any laundry is done during the day before we leave. The night prior we eat take out on paper plates so we don't make dishes. I don't like coming home to a mess. Last minute packing of toiletries is done night before. I take my shower the night before we leave. Then before I go to bed I go over my packing list to ensure nothing was missed and all bags are stacked beside the front door easy to go. We usually fly early in the morning so I try to avoid having to do a lot the day we leave. I just want to wake up, get dressed, do my makeup, then leave. We eat breakfast at the airport. I stress more if we go on a trip without the kids because a lot more planning and organizing has to be done to keep schedules and the house intact while the sitter is at my home.

Was reading through and thought I would add... this year will be a little more hectic because we are SURPRISING my DD7 with the trip! So I have to pack discreetly (thats really hard when you want to pack in June for a September trip :rotfl:) Luckily, she has a whole new wardrobe to wear at Disney :lmao::lmao:

On Disney Eve I will prob also be a nervous wreck because we are boarding our 1yr old puppy who has never been away from us before (more than a few hours in the day, etc). She's staying for eight nights and im worried she will stress out and not be able to handle it!

This year we are leaving on a wednesday in September, flight is at 7am... we are planning to wake DD7 up and tell her to get ready for school (wonder if she'll notice we're waking her three hours early :confused3 :lmao: ) and then have a big box of balloons and toys and a "im going to disney world" shirt for her to open in the living room... I cant wait to see her face when we tell her to put on the shirt so we can leave for the airport :lmao:

lol your kid is going to literally explode.

For the pup, have everybody wear a shirt you don't mind throwing away the day before you board the puppy. Go ahead and ask the kennel if they'll add those shirts to the kennel with her, that way she has something that smells like home and you and she'll be a good bit more at ease.

I love reading about those of you who clean house before the trip. I love coming home to a clean house it's good to know I'm not alone. My family thinks I'm crazy.

No stress but definitely busy. I take off the day before we leave to prep. Lots of little chores - take my elderly mom clean laundry and visit with her - last minute packing - prep the house - check the kitty supplies for our pet sitter, etc.

Hubby works that day but as soon as he gets home we head to an airport hotel for the night - nice relaxing dinner for 2 at the hotel and TRY to get some sleep.

Sounds like us :rotfl:except we are the opposite - it's usually DH yelling at me. We have 1 month to go and he's already harping on me about packing - of course this time we are flying instead of driving so he keeps reminding me of the weight limits on the luggage!

As for my day before it will be quite hectic if I'm not packed. I will have to work and get home about 5:15/5:30 (unless I can get out early) and DH will be working so it will be me & the kids getting everything together. DH will get home from work at 3:30/3:45 am and I have to have everyone and everything ready to head to the airport at 4:30 am. Should be interesting :) I'll hope to get some sleep...

Yes, she is, this is her third trip so I KNOW she's going to explode! I cant wait!!

Thanks for the advice for the puppy, I will do just that. They are allowed a blanket from home so maybe I'll sleep with one for a few days prior and then send that with her! Thanks!

This is hysterical - made my morning! :rotfl2:

The day before I'm making sure everything is in the truck for our road trip and DH is telling me I need to be getting sleep for the roadtrip. I double check and check again making sure I don't forget our pillows again! Ha! I love the night before Disney. :goodvibes

It's usually just a crazy mix of excitement around here. We always go to our favorite Mexican restaurant the night before. I make sure the house is spotless, and any last minute snacks for the road are bought. We watch a Disney movie (this year was Princess & The Frog), and we talk about all of our must-dos. Then it's an early bedtime. Next morning we are up early, grab a cup of coffee, say a prayer of blessing for a safe trip, and then we are on the road with our various Disney music selections playing in the car!!
Oh wow. I am just picturing it all now. I guess in some ways it's a state of euphoria for me:)

Not necessarily stressed but Disney Eve is definitely busy for us. We usually have to work that day and then spend the evening getting the dogs shipped to the parents/in-laws and then making sure that everyone is packed/boarding passes are printed/magic bands are located/etc.

It seems like no matter how hard we try to get to bed early we're always up with some last minute packing/laundry or something until 11. Then up bright and early to get on the earliest flight possible to WDW!
