I thought it was one of the best books I ever read, I also read Angels and Demons which was a pretty decent read as well. I must say I am officially hooked on Dan Brown's books, I am in the middle of reading Digital Fortress which is a great book for all you conspiracy theorists who also dislike the government ;)

So, I was wondering how many of you like me and my hubby, will be at the movies friday night to see the film? I can't wait and I have absolutely refused to pay to see a movie since corpse bride (DH and DD love Tim burton) I am really hoping to see some bible thumpers there as well, we had alot of fun with them when Dogma came out :stir:

I loved the book - we won't be at the movies to see it Friday night but hope to see it soon!

:confused3 What's a bible thumper?

It's a nickname for the reborn christians who attempt to convert you by annoyingly soliciting you with their bibles and paphlets.

I will see it on Monday - for free
Smart, the maker of the tiny car, which is shown in the movie (And also mentioned in the book), has an exclusive showing for its customers or prospective customers and I got an invitation.

I have read (a friend gave me them for free) all 4 of DB books. I found Angels and Demons to be far and away the best, DC was a distant second and the other two were down right terrible. He is so predictable (except A&D), so I found them boring. DB is not a good mystery writer. I guess he appeals to the conspiracy group best. I have not intentions of seeing a movie made of a book that I found less then good.

Now the stuff that will be happening at the release and reported on TV could be good.

I read Angels and Demons first and then read Da Vinci Code. I thought Angels and Demons was RIVETING. Wow, what a read! After that, Da Vinci Code didn't seem quite so exciting, however, it was still a great read and I will definitely be at the theaters this weekend!

It's funny because DH and I bought Angels and Demons and The Davinci Code together. He started reading Angels and Demons while I was reading The Davinci Code and then we swapped. I did like Angels and Demons alot but I still thought Davinci Code was better, However after reading Davinci Code I thought it was really easy to guess the villian in Angels and Demons, where I had absolutely no clue in Davinci Code and was honestly shocked.

My hubby on the other hand, had no clue in both books and he is usually the more perceptive one, so I was pretty surprised. We had alot of fun with the whole "What part are you up to" game while reading the 2nd book. DH preferred Angels and Demons to the Davinci Code. I can't wait for the next book he's working on about the American Free Masons, I always loved that lil bit of contradiction on the dollar bill; Having "In god we trust" and The illuminati all seeing eye.

I LOVE Dan Brown, don't get me wrong. My only problem with him is that his stories all have the same set-up and same plot with different contexts and characters. After you've read one, you always know Who Dun It. I liked Deception Point best of all. Then again, I love Geology and all that natural stuff. :rolleyes1 I got DH hooked on him driving down for our weddin gin December0 I bought him Da Vinci Code on tape. He's hooked- line and sinker!

I can make you all jealous (sorry!)... ready....

:woohoo: We'll be seeing Da Vinci Code on Friday at the DTD theatre! :woohoo:

I want to see this movie, although Robert Langdon should be portrayed by Russell Crowe instead of Tom Hanks, IMHO.

My DS (11) also wants to see this, but I've read that it got its rating because of nudity. :confused3

So, I'd love opinions after you see the movie to let me know if it is just the highlighted out nude body of the curator, or if they show the albinos butt when he is self-mortifying, then he'd be able to see the movie with me. If it is something else, like a bedroom scene with the 2 leads, then we'll have to rethink his viewing of the movie.

I read DC first and loved it. Then I read A&D and loved it more! Maybe I would have thought less of DC had I read it second. I haven't read anything else by Dan Brown. As long as James Patterson keeps giving me books to read at the beach, I don't need to find another author.

I just started reading TDC yesterday and I love it. It really is a great book. I guess I will have to get Angels and Demons next.

Yesterday i went and saw Mission Impossible III :cool1: it was awsome he started going on missions again and then he got the bad guy he was wanted and then this guy let the bad guy go after the attack on the road after they got him then he go away and 1 lady that worked for him pertented to be his wife and he killed her but then he relized that was not his wife and he died and the wife broke free but then he came back alive and then the end it was a nice movie anyone saw Just My Luck?

I do agree with you 100% about the plot line, he really seems to like the smart ladies and the crytographers ;)

I think we'll be seeing it Saturday. Does anyone know if it is playing in IMAX?

Definitely. It is the better of the two books, was written first, is first in the chronology, and does a better job introducing the character. It is perhaps the single most enjoyable book I've ever read.

Yes, I'd love to know this also. My 11 1/2 year-old DD just finished a 6 page paper on Da Vinci, has posters of his artwork all over her room and is simply dying to see this movie with us. So, please report back.

I loved the book (and Angels & Demons), too. And, I totally agree with RUDisney that Russell Crowe would have made a much better Langdon over Hanks.

One thing about Angels & Demons that I thought was boring was all the physics stuff at the beginning. I tell everyone that the first 170-180 pages were kind of boring and setup the rest of the book, but once I got past that, I couldn't put the book down. So, if you're reading this book and start to think, "what was everyone talking about? This is very dry reading." Keep reading. It will definitely pick up!

Oh, I love the idea of IMAX. I'll have to check if it'll play this way in Philadelphia. If it turns out that the kids can see it, we can make a day trip of it. They haven't seen an IMAX movie yet. This one would be cool to see that way.
