The Davinci Code

Okay...I liked it :duck:
I missed the detail of the symbology though. I thought that was so interesting in the book.
But for a book made into a movie, I think it did fine.

I also enjoyed the movie.

Ian McKellan did a terrific job. His mannerisms were just as I pictured them while reading the book.

Tom Hanks wouldn't have been my first choice as Robert Langdon, but I don't know who could have been better.

It was pretty good for a movie based off a book that I loved.

I would love to see a movie based off Angels and Demons but think that the subject matter and the graphic nature of the story may be barriers for it. The book was great though.

We saw it this afternoon. It was okay. A little too long-- a little draggy in some parts. Definitely not as suspenseful as the novel.

I didn't think Tom Hanks had much of an impact in the movie either way. He wasn't very charismatic, but he wasn't annoying either. He was kind of just there.

I was surprised to see a few young kids in the theater (maybe 8-9). I think they probably must have been bored out of their minds, but there were definitely a few parts that were inappropriate for them (at least in my opinion!)

I did think that Silas (Paul Bettany) was pretty hot, though.

I totally agree -- would not take 8/9 years old-- I went to see this with my best friend ---

I loved the book and I loved the movie.

I don't care if Tom Hanks was like whatever, I see him as Robert L, no as Tom Hanks.

The end was beautiful, the face o Sophie.

Of course it wasn't exactly like the book, but it was good, the book is about 500 pages long.

And I didn't see anything offensive.

Silas is a great character (cannot rmbr the name of the actor) but he did great.

Just came back from seeing it and thought it was very well done. I think it did the book justice. And all the actors were perfect for the part. Sophie and Silas were everything I imagined them to be when I read the book. I didn't mind that it was long..it was still very suspenseful.

Just finished seeing it--thought the movie was fine & I was prepared not to like it!
I did like the book, thought Dan Brown used just enough fact to create a thoughtful fiction.

Gotta say, I was happy they laid off the romance between Langdon & Sophie in the movie. Seems a very smart move, considering Hanks was in the Langdon role. With that tack, like OPs have said, Hanks neither added nor distracted us from the movie's pace-
thought Paul Bettany as Silas, Jean Reno(Capt Fache), Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellan, the actor that played LT Collet--all very, very good!

all three of us enjoyed the 'historic' aspect visuals--

It's a movie, they had to leave out a lot of good stuff, but Chris, DS17 & I all enjoyed it~ :thumbsup2

Well I saw it today with my family. I liked it a lot. It was a little long and some of the dialogue I found cheesy. "Professor?!?" She said that about 4 times within 10 minutes...otherwise good movie. A little more violent and graphic than I was expecting, but it was ok.

My family is Christian and my dad is a pastor. We all came out :confused3 My mom is wondering what we are supposed to be outraged about and what we are supposed to be "deciphering and debunking." :rotfl2:

We decided that a lot of it was just marketing to that group of Christians in today's society (in America at least) that don't miss an opportunity to play the victim/martyr/"Christianity is under attack" card.

I can't wait for the next book he's working on about the American Free Masons, I always loved that lil bit of contradiction on the dollar bill; Having "In god we trust" and The illuminati all seeing eye.

I am a freemason and a Christian (though I don't suppose I've ever thumpeda Bible  ) and the above is not even a little bit of a contradiction.

I'm more concerned about the Maonic misinformation he will come out with. And although you will even hear it from some Masons, the reality seems to be that no one in the fraternity had any influence over the design of the dollar bill either. ;) (Much less connections to the Illuminati  )

Weren't you on that committee? We talked about it in the last world domination meeting.
