Hi, Heather, just got caught up! We planned a big party for my dad's 80th birthday, then came father's day, then a garage sale at my parents this weekend, so I kinda fell behind on everything. Oh, and our 180 day mark came this week, so I was crazy trying to plan out stuff.
I'm so sorry about your little Jasper. Don't ever feel like it was your fault; you can tell how much you loved him, and I'm sure he knew it too. We had our cat, Abercrombie till he was 19 years old (well, I got him when he was 8 1/2 from a friend). He was definitely our baby, before we had our dd. We even gave him a sweet 16 birthday party! I believe our pets truly know what we're saying to them; Aber would sometimes meow back "I love you" at night when we told him goodnight. (No, I wouldn't post that just anywhere on these boards!

) We finally got so sick with hyperthyroidism, even with meds for years, that we had to let him go. Even the vet was crying when we had to put him to sleep. She was great.
It took us a long time to want another pet--actually about a year and a half after Aber died, a stray and then one of her half grown kittens started showing up at our house and decided to stay. So, we actually didn't "decide" to get a pet, one decided on us! They both moved with us when we came to our current house about 3 1/2 years ago, but the mama cat ran off on that new year's eve, and we found out she had taken up with a neighbor down the road!! Traitor! But we have the other cat still, Morris, an orange tabby. We love him very much, but it's still not the same as Aber because he's not in the house with us all day, and he just doesn't "talk" all the time and answer me like Aber used to. I'm sure when the time is right, you and Darren will find another little furry face to love.
Whew, well, that was too long! But the update was great, and I agree that those shrimp look really scary. I don't want to see the heads on them, or their little legs, bleck! Great pictures with your new camera, too!
