The Darling Family June 2010 Trip Report: When are the Parents Showing Up?11/5 New TR

It was good to meet you, too! I was glad you flagged me down...I can sometimes walk by people that I'm related to and still miss them...:rotfl: I might have to borrow that picture to put in my TR.... ;)

We've seen Frontier Donald over there on past trips - he very rarely has a line. Glad John got some quality time in with him! Love the pictures of the boys on Big Thunder Mountain. Jack, Haley, and I all ended up riding it together not long after you saw us. I couldn't get over the short lines that morning! I sent DH over to get us Splash FP while we rode, and since the stand-by line only said 5 minutes he didn't get them. I think we waited ten minutes, tops, by the time we got there! And on a Saturday, too - I was really surprised.

We were also at MK on that day and had no waits for the big rides.:thumbsup2 It was amazing that it was a Saturday in June.

Great pics. I don't have a pic of Donald in that outfit. I love it.

Can't wait for more.popcorn::

It is a bit suprising I'd never been on the train before. We are usually big walkers so I've always preferred walking to riding the train. I'm glad we gave it a try. Maybe someday I'll do the rest of the loop.

I was going to ask if you ever rode it the rest of the way around, but thought I would wait and see in your TR. There is a nice surprise when you go from the front of the park to Frontierland. You may know about it, but I sure didn't realize it until we road one day.

I've been a way for a few days and I just realized you were back and writting again! Welcome back!
Sorry to hear about what happened on your trip. You and your family must have been so scared! So happy to hear all is well now.
I really enjoy your trip reports, you make me feel like I'm right in Disney with you!
Can't wait to hear more! :)

I couldn't miss the tye dye:goodvibes John will be thrilled if you use the picture he took in your trip report. He'll feel a little bit famous:laughing: The lines really were short that morning!

We really did just barely miss each other a lot this trip! I don't know why all the lines were so short, but it made for a fun morning so I'm not going to question it!

Now you've got me curious. I'll have to finish the loop soon!

Thank you for the kind thoughts. I love reliving the trips through my trip reports. Almost makes me feel like I'm back there too:goodvibes

First stop in Toontown was Mickey’s Judging Tent. It still was a bit before ten so we waited for a few minutes in the line and the boys enjoyed a few moments of classic Mickey cartoons. It didn’t take too long for our turn. Here we are.

Minnie was especially playful.

The boys wanted a private shot with Mickey. (Michael especially still has a thing against “the girl ones.”)

After greeting the hosts of Toontown the boys were up for a wild ride. So we walked right on Goofy’s Barnstormer.

They liked it so much we did it again.

We even did it a third time, but I decided I had plenty of pictures. As we exited the third time John said, “Hey look it’s the Disney Family.” For any of you that read my trip report from last summer you’re familiar with the Disney Family. They used to be our neighbors, but left us for greener pastures. Now we’re lucky enough to see them occasionally in Disney World. Mrs. Disney (most people call her Liz) was there with her 4 boys (who we sometimes call The Lost Boys.) Mr. Disney was coming later in the week. Like DH, Mr. Disney actually works for a living. Of course I knew they were in Disney, but seeing them right at this moment was a pleasant surprise. We happily greeted each other. They were on their way to a tour of Mickey’s house and we were more than happy to join them.

We leisurely wandered through the house taking a few pictures on the way. Liz especially was quite nostalgic thinking this could be our last time through Mickey’s house. The area is slated to close late this year or early next. Here are some of the shots we got.

Michael noticed the sign from Mickey asking us to take Pluto for a walk if we saw him. He talked about walking Pluto for the rest of the trip.:goodvibes

After we finished our tour the Disney family was off to ride the Teacups. My boys had other plans. Where do you think they wanted to head next?

Another great update, too cool about running into another family. I was going to look up when Toontown was going to close, so that helped me. We have never been through Minnie's house and need to do that at least once before it closes.

Hmmm, now I am trying to remember what all you have done and what you would go to next. Buzz?

Great update and some great photos :)

Another chance meeting in the same day, very cool :)

Hmmm, Buzz Lightyear next?

It was such fun running into you that morning. I'm glad we got to tour Mickey's house together. :)

Wow, what a rare sight in MK parking lot I imagine. I have DD's BBB appointment at 8:00. :) I'm looking forward to a "relative" empty MS.

Wow, Dumbo Dash winners! ;) What a fun memory for the boys to hang onto.

Great updates!!

Great update!

Toontown didn't actually look that crowded which is always nice.

Love the pics with Mickey:goodvibes

Wow you three got a lot done quickly that morning! I don't know if I wouldve lasted three times on the Barnstormer! :rotfl: Cute pics with Mickey and Minnie!

You got some great pics in the Judge's Tent. I love how they wanted a shot with just Mickey! How cool that you ran into friends! :thumbsup2 Are you headed to Tomorrow Land next? :confused3

Great update!:thumbsup2 Love your character pics...so cute!!:goodvibes Glad you were able to ride Barnstormer 3 times! We did the same thing last April...we got off and then got right back on again with no wait. Aww...I loved looking at your pictures in Mickey's house. I'm so sad we missed it when we went in April.:sad2:

Can't wait to find out what you do next.popcorn::

Buzz Lightyear? Spce Mountain? Pool? (Is that too many to guess? lol)
Not too many to guess:goodvibes All good guesses, but none of them are right.

I don't think anyone knows the exact time Toontown is closing (even Disney). Current rumors are they are scaling back the whole project so who knows. Never been through Minnie's house:scared1: That is Wendy's favorite place in the MK.

Great update and some great photos :)

It's not Buzz, but it is in that direction.

It's always fun to see you!

The parking lot did seem rare. That is why I took a picture though I don't think it will make it into my scrapbook.

The crowds were really pretty light this day, especially for June. I noticed you're heading to WDW soon for the 1st time. Just a heads up about one of the differences between WDW and Disneyland. Toontown is soooooooo much better in Disneyland. The first time I went to FL Toontown I was pretty disappointed.

Wow you three got a lot done quickly that morning! I don't know if I wouldve lasted three times on the Barnstormer! :rotfl: Cute pics with Mickey and Minnie!
The crowds were relatively light. Three times on the Barnstormer was a bit much. I was glad we saw the Disney Family because then the boys didn't ask to go again.

You got some great pics in the Judge's Tent. I love how they wanted a shot with just Mickey! How cool that you ran into friends! :thumbsup2 Are you headed to Tomorrow Land next? :confused3
I like the Mickey/Minnie pictures too. Yes we are headed to Tomorrowland.

The boys sure do love Barnstormer. It's nice that lines are short in the morning. I'm glad we had a chance to explore Mickey's house. Usually we spend more time in Minnie's house because Wendy likes it so much. Without Wendy we had more time for Mickey.

So if there is one thing little boys love (or at least my little boys) it is playing in water. So my boys were geared up to head over to Donald’s boat. I took a couple of pictures

Then I sat down on a bench to give DH a call. I guess I chatted for a while because by the time I was done this is what the boys looked like. These are the kinds of things that happen without adult supervision.;)

DSC01867.jpg

I don’t know why Michael looks so upset, but John was upset because I told him his “cool hair” was running. He was quite disturbed about the idea of messing up his do.:rotfl2: I figured they wouldn’t complain about being hot for a while.

We headed off with no specific destination in mind. The boys saw the teacups and wanted to go for a spin. So we did.

Then we headed toward Tomorrowland and we passed by what I call the Stinky Cars. (Most people call it the Tomorrowland Speedway.) I don’t really like Stinky Cars.:rolleyes1 (I suspect you might have guessed that from my nickname.) First of all, they are stinky. Secondly, the line is usually long and always in the sun. Because of my aversion to the ride, John had ridden it once in his life and Michael had never been on it. I was trying to be relaxed and go with the flow and the boys wanted to ride. I said OK as long as all 3 of us would fit in one car. (John was not tall enough to drive himself.) So I asked the CM if that was possible. He said no problem so I was stuck. Stinky Cars it was. The boys were very excited about riding. They were really feeling like there was no adult supervision now. The line wasn’t too bad. Maybe 15 minutes. As we approached the cars and I got a closer look I was a little skeptical about all three of us squeezing in. I’m nowhere near a size 2. I couldn’t really back out now though so we somehow all managed to fit. Here we are on Stinky Cars.

DSC01879.jpg

John steered and I worked the pedal. Let me just say it is good John has another 8 years before he gets his license.:rolleyes1 And that pedal is hard to push. The boys loved the ride. My opinion of Stinky Cars has not changed.

It was good we went on it though because the boys were now full of good will towards me. We wandered out of Tomorrowland across the hub and what did we see. One of my friends, a Photopass guy!:) Because of all the good will I’d collected on Stinky Cars the boys were more than willing to pose. Here are some of the shots we got. (Notice their clothes are still not dry.)

By this point it had been a while since breakfast. Our tummies were rumbling a bit, but we had an early dinner scheduled so we didn’t want a full blown meal. Just a little snack to tide us over. Where do you think we headed?
