Happy Friday (and Weekend), All!

I'm just learning of the shooting near the Empire State Building this morning. It's a sad, sad world when a person who was laid off a year ago has a dispute with a former co-worker which ends in shootings. My hearts go to the families as they investigate this incident. Thankfully, NYC's counter-terrorism team was nearby and acted quickly.

Onto much lighter chat, what are your weekend plans? I'm getting things together for school and doing some cleaning.

Moving forward, I thought we'd consolidate the The Daily Grind posts in order to keep the conversation moving. We can have a "Weekend Edition" and one thread for during the week. Feel free to start one on Monday if you're up before me! ;)

Just saw about the shooting. So awful. :sad2:

I have very minor weekend plans. Some friends are coming up to see the baby tomorrow and on Sunday we're taking her to her grandparent's house for the first time! It's only like a 30 minute car ride, but I'm still a little nervous. I'm excited to get out of the house though!

Very busy weekend here... the GKTW meet tonight, then my nephew's birthday party tomorrow, and my husband's work party on Sunday. Yikes.

How old is your little one, auroralark? DS will be 4 weeks on Monday. I'm with you on needing to get out of the house! We have a 2 year old who is also getting stir crazy. No real plans here, other than church Sunday. My dad is coming to stay a few days on Monday and help me, which basically means he won't let me do anything and treats me like I'm sick, rather than over halfway through my recovery.

2 Weekends until Nikki's birthday!

Plus it is almost birthday bonaza time for 3 DL Podcasters.

We are most likely be boring again this weekend. Yardwork, early start to fall cleaning, and Netflix streaming or maybe Roku box streaming.

We are just about to leave our hotel room for the meet. Tomorrow tourist type stuff in NYC. Train ride back (about 5 pm). Church and laundry on Sunday. Maybe some netflix (Star Trek Voyager) or DVR of big bang theory.

DIS Birthday Bonanza! Woot! Woot!

It sounds like you all had a great time!!

:happytv: I had a Deep Space Nine marathon until 6am-ish after watching Rob Roy. :rolleyes1 So, I got up after noon-time.

We had Chinese take-out for lunch and I have half-left of my entree for tomorrow or Monday.

:woohoo: We saved over $60 on the grocery run tonight which helps out for the travel fund to get back started soon. I even bought M&Ms tonight for under $1 on the ones in the 11 oz range (3 day e-mail special plus coupon on the package) and got 3 big boxes of Krave cereals for around .50/.75 after the store deal/digital coupons. NC Beast is making some Jerk Chicken for Sunday and leftovers for the freezer. I'm making LTT style pot roast Sunday night or Monday. Looks like we are going to be good in avoiding take-out on chat night with leftovers.

I'm a slacking in cooking today. I got take-out on the way home and NC Beast claimed my leftovers from lunch plus salad.

Tonight, we might watch some Netflix movies. I don't think I do another Star Trek marathon till dawn this weekend. I got worn out some from watching the last half-hour of NASCAR race under the lights at Bristol. My score will be so bad on the main CB race thread. I did some fussing/yelling during the race and scared the dog.

Great weekend so far-rode bikes to watch our awesome local parade this morning :). This evening, got a babysitter and DH and I went to a bluegrass and wine event at one of or favorite wineries-great food and music, beautiful string, met wonderful new people, and it was all free since we belong to their wine club. So glad we made it happen.

Congrats on new babies!

Worked at my part time job yesterday to make some Mickey Money and today I have to start picking apples....the season starts.....ugh. Will be a slave to the orchard for the next two months.

Ah, but fall is such an awesome season! I'm looking forward to putting up all of my apple/Back to School decorations up this week in the house. Love, love this season!

The weather is going to be beautiful today here - 82 with a wonderful breeze. I'm hoping to get some things done in the house today. I need to reorganize and clean the kitchen; I swear a little green-eyed monster took havoch on my pantry and cabinets and messed things up!

We just found out that local schools are closed on Monday as a "Hurricane Day" because everyone is nervous about Isaac. I've never had a "Hurricane Day" before, so welcome to Florida, I guess! :confused3

The weekend has been very easy going for me, since work officially started on Tuesday, when kids came back. :teacher: Slept a lot on Saturday and did some hurricane prep shopping. We have olives for martinis, so all will be well. :rotfl:

I *finally* just finished reading Masters of the Universe - the original Twilight fanfic that EL James reworked into Fifty Shades of Grey. I was curious to see how the book has transformed, and I have to say whoever was her editor deserves some serious kudos because the original was just bad.

Now that I'm done with that and have some magic free time, I'm seeing some hot tea and new books in my not-too-distant future.

Time to do some grocery shopping, and then pack for WDW!
We leave on Thursday after work for the long holiday weekend. Haven't decided yet if I will put the fall decorations up before I leave or wait until it is really September.

John and I had a great time at the NYC meet Friday night!
Yesterday was just spent doing little stuff around the house.

I love the days leading up to another vacation! They seem to drag a bit- but I smile all through the week!! :yay:
