Looking out on the CB today, I'm wondering who some of those folks will turn their hate to when GWB is gone. Does Bush Derangement Syndrome have a shelf life? What in the world will happen to those folks when a survey comes out in 10 years or so saying Bush is one of the best presidents of all time (he kept us safe from terrorist attacks; Obama is looking at keeping most of Bush's terrorism policies…). I was around when the left and the media was crowing that Ronald Reagan's presidency was the "worst evah!" And today? He's considered among the top 10 presidents we've ever had. I think GWB will be up there, too, as history looks at him and we learn more and more about what a truly dangerous world he kept us safe from.

Amen!!! This is exactly what I've been saying for two years. I hope when this comes to pass I'm around to point it out to those who laughed at me. And it will come to pass, I'm certain of it.

I agree in some respects. But they aren't called the Greatest Generation for nothing; they overcame a lot and those decades did have their problems but they were nowhere near as bad as the 60's on. I still think it was a simpler time and there are times I would like to have lived then.

I'm pretty fascinated with that era, too - I would have made a great Rosie the Riveter!

But, one thing I like to remember - to keep me optimistic about the times we are in .... life has never been perfect in any era. Back in the 30s, folks were struggling through a REAL depression, European countries were toppling like a house of cards, parents were terrified that their children would contract polio, mumps, measles, the flu - all treatable now but terminal back then. And don't even talk about cancer - even since I was born in the late 60s, cancer has become so much more treatable - amazing...

Then, when you think about certain demographics - the AA community was discriminated against without reprisal, women weren't taken seriously, forget about native Americans....

I don't mean to get all warm/fuzzy lib - I promise! But, we as a nation, have really made some tremendous strides - technologically, medically, and in the area of civil rights - since the 30s, 40s, 50s.

The different seems to be that, back in 'the day,' the degenerate parts of society were just that - and they stayed away from the view of the media. Sure, folks were all sorts of immoral back then - but this was kept away from 'nice company.' Not a bad idea in some respects, considering our terrible fascination with Springer-types of programming - in others, however, things should have been exposed much earlier - racism for one.

Now, I think we've swung too far in the other direction - I'd love some good old-fashioned entertainment without a leftward bias. Innocence would be nice, too. On TV even...crazy idea, that one...

All that to say, we do have a lot to be thankful for now - and we all have the capacity to influence our world for generations to come in this crazy generation we're in. The cool thing about looking back is that those folks from the 30s, 40s, and 50s made it through their tumultuous times. I hope we'll be able to say the same thing in a couple of decades....

I am also fascinated by that time period, specificallly The Depression and WW II era. Both these posts are right on with my views. The greatest generation is/was my grandparents generation. I am in awe of what they have gone through and how they have seen the world change.

A pole dancing studio in Salt Lake City has become part of a worldwide movement to get pole dancing considered as an Olympic sport for the 2012 Games in London, KUTV reported Friday."It's automatically assumed it has something to do with stripping," said Lizz Schofield, owner of Studio Soiree in Sugar House, which is filled with floor-to-ceiling poles. "But it's not stripping at all."

"I don't take my clothes off at all. I just come for a great workout," Andrea Bower, a mother of four, told KUTV.


Jim Walters, also a mom and another Studio Soiree member, said, "I'm an LDS house wife. It's not a typical thing for LDS women to do."

Proponents of "pole fitness," as it is referred to by some, has caught on in the U.S., Australia and the United Kingdom, Schofield told KUTV.

"This takes grace, fluidity and strength. It's on par with ice skating and everything else in the Olympics," said Lorinda Coombs, co-owner of Studio Soiree.

I truly wish I had been alive during the 40's. I have tremendous respect for that generation. They were people to be commended. They pulled together and did what they had to do because it was for the good of the nation. I wish we could do that, but I think it will never happen nowadays.

I like the idea of adding in Have a blessed Thanksgiving to it, then changing it to add in Merry Christmas as the holiday dictates.
