The adulation of Obama by soooo many people is mind boggling. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that there are actually those who think his "coronation' should be a national holiday. Why don't we just call the pope and have him cannonized so we can have the feast of ST. Barack. I have three conservative sons who laugh all the time that Star Wars contains the answer to most of lifes problems. Last night my middle son said that this whole situation reminds him of the quote from Queen Amadala "So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause."They all promptly put it up on their AIM accounts as their message. My husband and I are so proud.

Oh please, anyone but Huckabee...for anything. I think we would have had a winning ticket in a Romney/Palin ticket. Huckabee sabotaged Mitt and I am afraid he will be back in 2012 to do it again!

Hi Dawn!

I love ya, but I can't back Romney, sorry!

I just wanted to come out of the lurking closet to say that I have really enjoyed reading this thread and your opinions and optimism have helped me see that there is "hope and change" :lmao: ahead for the conservative community. I really thought that enough people in this country would see through Obama and his empty campaign, but was disappointed in the gullibility of the American electorate. Thank you for being there and being a voice for reason.

Wow, KNJ, you just registered to post here! We are honored!:worship:
And I agree, in my wildest dreams, I never would have believed that he would have been elected.:sad2:

I'm surprised they haven't started measuring his big head for a spot on Mt. Rushmore :rotfl:

I agree with you Dawn - Pleeeaaassse no Huckabee, and I also agree with Mr. Man - enough with the "close enough" conservatives. I won't throw my hat in for anyone yet, although I really liked what I saw from Palin! I would feel very comfortable with her as POTUS.

I actually like Ann Coulter/Gingrich ticket :rotfl:

I would actually like to see Gingrich head up the RNC. He's a great spokesman for conservativism, and he is a historian who can really put it all in perspective.

Just now online and catching up on posts. Wanted to respond to this now though.

I agree with Dawn. I know this all isn't policy related, but I still think what she's talking about helped lead us to McCain being the nominee. I've said it a couple of times now, but I'm a Southern Baptist like Mike is. My preacher is from Arkansas and has been friends with him for years, even. But I saw firsthand what started to happen amongst some evangelicals because of the stuff Huckabee said and did. By publically making comments like "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the Devil are brothers?'', he riled up a lot of evangelicals I personally know to the point where they thought Romney was a nut. They didn't support him because of it. I'm in no way saying all people who didn't like Romney didn't like him because of his religion; just that some people (whom I know) didn't because Huckabee, frankly, freaked them out. A fractured base helped create the monstrosity that was the McCain candidacy. Now, I disagree with a lot of Mormon beliefs, but my personal opinion is that a candidate's religion is none of my business, as long as they aren't and/or their church isn't pushing violence, anti-American sentiment, etc.

But I am admittedly biased. Huckabee's been somewhat "famous" in my denomination for a long time now. Those who aren't Southern Baptists aren't as likely to know about the "Baptist Civil War" (yes, that's an actual term, as pathetic as it is to admit  ) we had within the denomination in the 1980s. It was a very complicated and, at times, very ugly and unseemly situation. Without boring people with the details or pushing my own beliefs down anyone's throats, many SBs do not trust or like him at all because people believe he showed himself at that time to be willing to turn on conservatives within the denomination for the sake of his own gain in moving up the power ladder. This has been the feeling among many for about 19 years now.

In short, there's more than just typical political "baggage" that Mike has to deal with. It's also church politics, which as I'm sure many of us know, can be more rough and tumble than national politics. :rotfl:

Well, it sounds like for Huckabee, its the "same old, same old". I have no doubt he will be back though. I think that is the purpose of his show on Fox, which, please forgive me, is one of the most boring programs that they have. He came across during the debates as "modest and likable". It takes more than modesty and likability to be president. His presence in the race was a spoiler for Romney. With regard to his comments on Mormonism; As a pastor, who took more than the normal share of theology classes, he asked a question to split the base, not to become informed. I thought it low.

I like Gingrich too. He seems to have an intelligent and thoughtful grasp of the issues facing the rep. party. My concern with him was his inability to reign in the spending when we had control after the Contract With America. I don't know if the power went to their heads and they went a little crazy but many felt betrayed by their lack of fiscal responsibility. He has some baggage to explain about that episode. IMHO.

Hey everyone,

Posted a couple of times but checked the thread daily. I always enjoyed the thread. So I would like to offer any conservative in this thread 2 nights in a studio at Old Key West for this Nov 21 & 22. The only thing is right now you would have to switch rooms. Maybe when you can check in they might be able to keep you in the same room. I had some extra points that I messed up so they need to be used by the end of November. If anyone can use them let me know.

Just in case anyone missed my offer.

I really like Gingrich too and wish he'd step up, but then - what do I know, I like Dan Quayle too.

I know  , how about we judge the best con pick, by how much the left demonizes them.

Man, his ear is ALL OVER Abraham Lincoln!

Travesty!!! Outrageous!!!

Let's just take out the rest of Honest Abe.......I mean, what has he done for us lately.......
