WOW- 64% Of Republicans Want Palin to Run in 2012

Well Maybe the GOP can save money on primaries. According to a Rasmussen poll released today, almost 2/3 of Republicans want Governor Palin to be the nominee in four years. In fact more GOPers approved of the VP Pick this time around than the Presidential pick. Those cowardly McCain staffers trashing the governor better keep their mouths closed, after all they might want a job with the campaign in 2012. Read the full survey below:

69% of GOP Voters Say Palin Helped McCain
Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Republican voters say Alaska Governor Sarah Palin helped John McCain’s bid for the presidency, even as news reports surface that some McCain staffers think she was a liability.

Only 20% of GOP voters say Palin hurt the party’s ticket, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Six percent (6%) say she had no impact, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Ninety-one percent (91%) of Republicans have a favorable view of Palin, including 65% who say their view is Very Favorable. Only eight percent (8%) have an unfavorable view of her, including three percent (3%) Very Unfavorable.

When asked to choose among some of the GOP’s top names for their choice for the party’s 2012 presidential nominee, 64% say Palin. The next closest contenders are two former governors and unsuccessful challengers for the presidential nomination this year -- Mike Huckabee of Arkansas with 12% support and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with 11%.

Three other sitting governors – Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Charlie Crist of Florida and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota – all pull low single-digit support.

These findings echo a survey earlier this week which found that Republicans were happier with their vice presidential candidate than with their presidential nominee. Seventy-one percent (71%) said McCain made the right choice by picking Palin as his running mate, while only 65% said the party picked the right nominee for president.

The key for the 44-year-old Palin will be whether she can broaden her base of support. An Election Day survey found that 81% of Democrats and, more importantly, 57% of unaffiliated voters had an unfavorable view of her.

Palin, Alaska’s first woman governor, was elected to a four-year term in 2006. She was largely unknown nationally until McCain chose her to be the party’s vice presidential candidate. She quickly became a darling of the GOP’s conservative base and energized the party’s rank-and-file.

Speculation about her future has run high for weeks when it appeared Barack Obama was likely to beat McCain. Already this week there is talk of her possibly taking the seat of embattled Republican Senator Ted Stevens if he manages to hang on and win won reelection despite recent federal felony convictions. Stevens would have to step down if his appeal of the convictions is unsuccessful.

Palin could also run for another term as Governor in the state where she still enjoys very high approval ratings.

Among Republicans, 66% of men and 61% of women say Palin is their choice for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. Sixty-six percent (66%) of GOP women have a Very Favorable view of her, as do 64% of men.

While Palin’s high favorables suggest she has a bright political future in the Republican Party, it is important to note that favorites four years out from a presidential election quite often do not get the nomination. Obama, for example, was just an Illinois state senator four years ago, and Hillary Clinton appeared a shoo-in for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

Similarly, vice presidential candidates historically have seldom risen to the highest office by election.

Republicans are closely divided over the two most important issues in the next presidential election: 31% say economic issues, 30% say national security. Fifteen percent (15%) list fiscal issues, followed by cultural issues (12%) and domestic issues (6%). Five percent (5%) are undecided. Palin is overwhelmingly the top choice for 2012 among voters in all these categories.

Over two-thirds of Republicans describe themselves as conservative in terms of foreign policy, fiscal and social issues.

Eighty percent (80%) of Republicans have a favorable view of Huckabee, including 46% Very Favorable. Sixteen percent (16%) regard him unfavorably.

Eighty-one percent (81%) view Romney favorably, with 45% Very Favorable. Fifteen percent (15%) have an unfavorable opinion of him.

Jindal, Pawlenty, and Crist are far less known than the other candidates. Roughly 40% of GOP voters have no opinion one way or the other of these three Republican Governors.

By the way, I'm not saying Sarah Palin should be the Republican nominee in 2012. That is a long ways off, and unfortunately, she has a lot to recover from (unfairly) in this election.

I just posted the article to show that she most definitely was NOT a drain on the Republican ticket. A lot (although not all) of Republicans really like her. :goodvibes

Oprah now wanting to interview Sarah Palin. I hope Sarah tells Oprah were to stick it. I wouldn't go on her show if she was the only show.

Oh my dear lord -- someone make me turn the news off... a Caribbean nation is re-naming one of their mountains Mt. Obama --

pukey smiley please

I thought Al Franken lost?!?!?! He won?!?!?!?!?!

Oh, BTW, hi everyone! :) We're some busy people with a lot to say!

I was on the abortion thread for a while. Very sad. :sad2:

He hasn't won yet but it's looking good for him. Yikes!

Nope sorry,, Just finished our cruise and Easter is blacked out for the Disney offer. OItherwise I's seriously consider it.

You know, I was wondering if it was.......we are going to be offsite at WH in a 3 bedroom. We are so excited...........I wish it were next week, I could use a trip to my happy place.

I can't remember if I posted or not, but Jacob didn't make it home on Tuesday. Monday he had ALOT of things done and they took their toll on him, and he had a "brady" episode, which means his heart rate dropped more than 50% below normal, and he stopped breathing for more than 20 seconds. The nurses had to pick him up and stimulate him to get him started breathing again. The doctor that morning had said she felt it would be better to hold off another day or two before discharging him. At first I was a little ticked but in hindsight I'm so thankful. Had I taken him home or even roomed in with him that night he would have died while in my care because he wouldn't have been on the monitors that went into alarm when he stopped breathing.

Tuesday is my 1st wedding anniversary, so we'll have something else to celebrate :)

I didn't know about your son...........I'll be praying also. And happy wedding anniversary. I can remember back to our first, seems so long ago. It goes quickly.

Jeepers, creepers guys
You type so much
Anyways, I am a Disney CM and would LOVE to meet anyone when they come down
Currently, I work days and can meet up for a quick snack
I get in the parks for free, so meeting at a park is not a problem
Soarin' you are going to have so much fun as a CP
I cant wait to meet you
I can show you all around property control and all kinds of things
Heck, I can even have you over for homemade food

I would love to meet any one of my conservative buddies when I'm down there. I wouldn't have thought you existed if it wasn't for this thread. :rotfl:

I don't get it...I got points for quoting an article that described the procedure for a late-term abortion that Obama SUPPORTED, yet that abortion thread is allowed??:confused3

I've given up trying to understand how they do things around here. No disrepect, I know it must be a hard job, I just don't understand it. I got a warning once about posting to a link of a house rental (I guess they thought I owned it) and I saw someone else put about 5 links in one of their posts. :confused3 I understand you gotta have rules, but I guess I'm not on the list that gets to bend and break them.

You guys will have to forgive me, as my typing and spelling skills stink
I am also not very eloquent on paper.....

I know we are very disappointed the BO is now our president-elect
Some of the posters are demeaning that fact by saying he is not my President
Like it or not, America voted and he got the most votes
We need to be respectful of the office of the President
By dismissing BO we are lowering ourselves to their slimmy tactics
We should show them how gracious we are
We need to bring them UP to our level
To do other wise makes us just as bad as them
I hope you guys dont hate me

Don't hate you. And I see what you are saying. I'm having fun picking at him but I can only go so far. I will not give to him what the libs freely gave to Pres. Bush. They crossed the line over and over. But........I will admit that I might enjoy watching their reactions when Pres. Obama gets dished a plate of ridicule. It's not fun when your guy is trashed.

Unlike Miya Angelo (sp?), I will not be ashamed of my country even if the man I don't like gets the presidency. I'm so glad that some Americans can finally now be proud. I'm sorry, that makes me so mad/sad/angry that it gives me tears in my eyes.

I so agree with you.

I cannot believe he made the Nancy Reagan comment. I have been really trying today to just move on. He won, he's our president. I have to respect that.

I read the other thread and see them make fun of us, call some of our screen names out, refer to our current adminstration as bags of crap then scream bloody murder if we name call or don't show respect. It all makes me sick

Bottom line, I am trying. But if President Elect Obama makes comments like that, it makes it really hard.

So all of you from the other side who have joined our thread, go ahead and lurk, make fun of us, we lurk too. So you aren't the only ones that see some inconsistencies going on around here.

Agree with this, except I don't lurk over there. and since they do here.......may I take this opportunity to say......... Go ahead and make fun of us! Not only do I NOT care, it actually gives me a natural high!! You don't know how happy it makes me to know you read our thread! I wear your mockery as a badge of honor, are you kidding? GO RIGHT AHEAD! And I'll add to that, that I don't care what country makes fun of me either. I could care less what European countries think of us! Have we forgotten our history? Half the time Europe has been killing their own people. I'm supposed to worry if they like me??! Again, you have got to be kidding? Read away!

There.......I feel better now.

Oh yeah, did you all hear Sarah is doing an exclusive interview with Greta on Monday night?:thumbsup2

Good to know.

Hey!!!! joining in...can't wait until the next four years are over :scared1: i voted for the first time this year and was proud to vote but so upset!!! i cried when mccain gave his speech lol. can't wait to vote again in 2012!

disgal, I need to stop visiting their thread. I sometimes go over to see their point of view, not all of them by any means are rude. But I think I need to stop that and realize that they are a small slice of the pie so to speak. I have many democratic friends and family that I know would also find some of their posts offensive. Particularly the ones regarding Sarah Palin.

Their mockery is a badge of honor. I feel the same way.

Go Sarah, Go! ::yes:: Time will only help her as she can build back her image, and many people will not remember the bulk of things that were said about her. We probably all will because many of us are political junkies, but most people don't even start following the GEs until around the convention or debate times.

As for Huckabee, count me in on the 16% who view him unfavorably. :scared: I think I would've had a harder time voting for him than I did voting for McCain. I know some people here like him, and I respect that. But he is, IMO, completely unelectable on a national scale. Add his new TV show into it, and that ship has sailed. There'll be too much footage and comments for Op-R people to dig through and blast him on.

Back to Sarah. I had thought her taking Stevens' Senate seat would be a good idea, but on further reflection I don't think it is. Several reasons:

1. Voting records in Congress are easy to distort. Look no further than what happened with McCain and the O-B ticket saying he "voted to cut off funding to the troops." Actually, McCain voted against a timetable plan that included funding until the withdraw date. He supported the bill that had funding but no timetable. And you know with Sarah, the opposition will distort anything she does.

2. Related to that, the Dems do control the Senate, and I do believe many of them would be worried she'd run for Pres in 2012. So, what better time to make up stuff than when she's in the Senate with them? I can hear it now. "Anonymous Democrat sources on the Hill say Sarah Palin, *gasp*, took two napkins instead of one when she got her coffee this morning! She is destroying the environment!" :scared1:

3. Part of Sarah's appeal is she's an outsider, she's not part of D.C. Put her there this fast and that removes some of her appeal to some people.

She needs to be out in front of the press as much as she can on the energy issue especially. Whether he likes it or not, I think Sarah will be a thorn in BamBam's side for quite a while on energy especially. ;)

I think the Nancy Reagan comment was not only immature, but displayed his lack of sensitivity. That remark is really going to piss a lot of people off. He's certainly not putting forth a thoughtful effort in being much of a uniter.
BO doesn't care what we think of him. It's all about him and his radical agenda. I will give him the same "respect" the left gave Bush.

Here's another bumper sticker or maybe a window sticker:
