The Conservative - Liberal Debate Thread

Does anyone else find it interesting that the same people who defend the government's right to read our emails and listen to our phone conversations are so concerned with their privacy on a thread on a Disney board??

No offense intended, it's just interesting.

I alluded to that on the Conservative thread. ;) I wonder if it's okay for me to copy and paste something I said??!??!! :lmao:

That's a interesting stretch.

One person = same people? :confused3

And I don't think privacy was the issue. I believe it was context.

I wouldn't neccessarily say that the poster was concerned with "privacy" - rather than maybe that poster might not be posting in a thread where his/her words were c&p and he/she could defend their comments? I do agree that if I post something on a community board - than ANYONE can read it - privacy isn't an issue at all. But I would also like to be able to defend my words if they are being c&p in a thread that I wasn't posting on or haven't visited in a while.

My solution is to never post anything on the internet that I don't want everyone in the entire country, including my Mother, to read. Defense isn't really an issue, unless the person doing the c&p is taking a partial quote or otherwise removing the context. I can't control that, so I have to rely on the integrity of the other posters in the community.

Since I know we're all Disney fans here and we know Disney fans are ethical people, that won't ever happen! :)

I was not the least bit offended that the post was copied here. It was the condescending statement that went along with the C&P. And that didn’t even really bother me – I expect it from their side.

I’m willing, ready and able to defend any statement that I make.

Please do so - as I am still waiting on respnse from you from earlier in the thread.

And I rest my case.

I condemn a statement and you condemn an entire group...yet again. Typical. I don't know why it continues to surprise me.

Well I'm not confused anymore. Can I C&P what I said over on the other thread?? :teeth:

So are Democrats anti-Military?

I would say that the anti-ROTC policies that exist on many of the elite, liberal universities support that notion.

Also, how about the recent issue with Code Pink/Berkeley Town Council and the Marine Recruiting center?

How can you defend that?

Would it be softer if "I said I expect it from YOU?"

One word always seems to missing form your vocabulary. It might be a good idea to pencil it back in your dictionary. It's called "some".

I hope some realise that the Mods are most likely watching all of this and don't be surprised if threads start getting locked, including the "Liberal and Conservative only" threads. Didn't a warning by Kathy get issued on the liberal thread not too long ago?

I would hate to see the elimination of the political threads because I find the opinions on them to be interesting. Maybe some members need a cooling off period from each other? JMHO. We have a pretty unique environment here in which to bounce opinions, ideas, and statements off each other. Lets not ruin it, please?

If your talking about me, I never defended the govt's right to read our e-mails and listen. So I guess I am consistant in my issues, right?

If that's the case, then you're right-it wasn't about you.

How true Eddie. I'm looking forward to primary night. I guess my ignore list just found a couple more long term guests. :lmao:

:thumbsup2

The ignore feature can be a wonderful thing-as can walking away for a while.

I've found turning off the computer and having a cup of tea and a Girl Scout cookie helps but my waistline doesn't agree.

A girl scout cookie? You can stop at a girl scout cookie? Man, I have one and I devour the box! That why whenever I see those little fascist brats in their green berets, I run the other way! Girls Scouts are the devil...the devil I tell ya!

No. I don't believe Democrats are anti-military. I believe some Democrats and some Republicans and some Independents are so angry about the war in Iraq they've gone overboard. I don't feel the need to defend Code Pink. I understand their motives but I don't agree with their practices.

My family has a long time history of serving proudly in the U.S. armed forces. My father served in the U.S. Navy is World War II, My brother retired from the U.S. Army as a 'full bird' Colonel, another brother served in the U.S. Air Force and my husband served 12 years in the U.S.M.C. and is 100% disabled from his service. My nephew served four years in the U.S.M.C. and was injured in the siege of Fallujah. Oh, and my family is also proudly Democratic.
