The Coffee House

Thank you for the coke with lime NC Beast. and for the tip ohanafamily-I do agree with you it does need to be cold.

Help me out guys and gals. One of our neighbors who lives up the road is having things hauled by big trailer type trucks, so they said that they will fix the road because of the potholes the trucks are causing...but instead of just patching the holes, they are going to pave the whole road. That's really nice and generous of them right-yes, but here's the catch. It's a one lane road, and they had a sign saying they need to close the road for five different days from the hours of 7-3:30pm. How about the people that work and if there is an emergency what are they to do? As for our family, my mom leaves the house at 8:00, and my DH leaves at 2:00. Those times will not work out for us, and I'm sure many of the neighbors. There will be a meeting tomorrow, but anyone have any suggestions? This week's situation of the week.

:wave2:

Mommytotwo---I have no clue in your road situation yet.

The Diet Coke w/lime is smooth tasting to me, but I am not sure a Pepsi lover would like it.

I am making a pot roast in the slow cooker---I bought the meat before the pot roast thread came up on the main CB. I am using spices and Dr. Pepper. I have never used Dr. Pepper in a meat recipe before---if it doesn't come out---its a Mc Donald's night.

Has NCBeast always had those tags.

I think he has had them since late May. We made a poem on the Tagilarchy Island thread before the different Summer Tag. Island threads.

MD ---NC Beast has not been on enough when you are around. I might have been hogging the computer too much. He has been busy too. He might be on later, but you might be in bed by then. NC Beast is going to sleep to about 8pm--when he wakes up--he will be hungry. We are watching the Iron Chef battle then a dvd or 2.

I'll be awake and then asleep. It doesn't matter though.

Okay. I might not be on too much tonight. The sooner I fall asleep the sooner I will wake up and leave for disney.:earsboy: :earseek:  :bounce: :Pinkbounc

So NC Belle how did the roast turn out?

It came out real tender. I shredded it and added back about 4 cups of its liquid/juices + several splashes of milk and some butter slowly over 2 hours to where there was little liquid yet.

NC Beast toasted some wheat bread and we put the meat on top. It was so moist and tender. We have more than enough leftover for tomorrow. Whatever, I did--it came out good and no noticeable Dr. Pepper flavor. I might trying it next time by adding bbq sauce instead of the juices.

Yum bbq sauce. Unfortunatly I'm the only one in my family that likes that flavor. Can I come over for some roast? DH is going to make my favorite preperation of fish tonight, and I am going to make some california rolls.

Mommytotwo,

Fish sounds wonderful. How is it cooked? Can you share the recipe?

NC Belle's roast was wonderful. The best pot roast sandwich I've ever had. Yum.

It's a chinese style prepared fish that my husband actually learned how to make while working at the hotel-so instead of having to go to the hotel's restaurant and paying those big bucks, I can have it in the comfort in my own home.

I'll post the recipe later....I have to pay attention to how DH actually makes it lol.

How about your California rolls? That sounds interesting.

California Rolls-Half a sheet of nori, thin layer of regular rice or if you want sushi rice, maynaise-opt., thinly sliced cucumber, imitation crab, avocado, raddish sprouts, takuwan-Japanese pickled radish, tempura-not the fried ones like shrimp tempura, and you can add some other ingredients like shredded crab meat, and shrimp. Wrap it all up into a cone shape and dip it into some wasabi soy sauce mixture and enjoy.

 everyone how was your day? NC Belle here's how to prepare the fish.

Fillets of ahi-(tuna fish)
Slivers of green onion, and ginger
Cilantro
Sauteed mushrooms of your choice-cook these seperate from the fish
Butter or margarine
Peanut Oil
Salt, pepper, and garlic salt for seasoning
Soy Sauce

Season the fish with salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Heat the peanut oil in a pan-approx. 2 Tbsp. per fillet of fish. The fillet should be around one inch thick. Heat pan with peanut oil until it is very hot. Add the fish into the pan and cook the fish the way you prefer it to be-it's best if it's cooked medium or medium well since your fish will cook furthur after the peanut oil is added on it. Once the fish is done, put it on a plate or serving dish, and top it off with the mushrooms, ginger, cilantro, and a bit of soy sauce-approx. 2 Tbsp. then put the hot peanut oil over the fish to cook it furthur.

mommytotwo --Thanks for sharing your recipes. I need to work on my seafood cooking skills. Maybe I try them soon.
