Do you think that's a way to cope? My mom honestly doesn't talk about it much. Not that I think she should DWELL on it or anything, but I guess I'm more of a blabberer about things that really get me, whether it's something that bothers me or excites me, or I find very amusing. I MUST share it. But she has sort of kept most of this to herself.

My grandmother (mom's mom) had trouble facing her colon cancer, and just got severely depressed. Then she finally got to a point where she could function, as long as no one talked about the "C" word. So I wonder if my mom's reaction to her breast cancer is a little bit similar to that, and so I'm kind of afraid to bring it up. :confused3

Yeah, there are lots of ways of coping with it. But I also think that older ladies grew up in a time when breast cancer just wasn't talked about. We've discussed that on the Komen board a few times and the general concensus is that older ladies don't feel it very appropriate to talk about their breasts. Not to mention that many of them also grew up in a time when any type of cancer was basically a death sentence. So when they do talk abou it they are a lot more afraid of it then younger people are.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Right! If I am gonna GO, I wanna go out with some STYLE!! Not that starving on the toilet would have much style.. I need to think of something better. :lmao:

Didn't you ever do that project in English in high school where you had to write your own obituary?

Oh I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you really start thinking about any of the important things in life it can scare you. Just take 1 day at a time and it won't seem so overwhelming. You are a good mother, you are raising 2 kids and doing a good job and this won't be much different. Sure you'll be busier, but I'm sure you're up for the challenge.

Now if you only had 4 cupholders I would worry, but with 14 it'll be a cinch.:thumbsup2

Well ladies, it's my bedtime. I'm getting up early again in the morning...you guessed it, I'm going fly fishing again!:lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Thank goodness for all those cup holders!:rotfl2: But really.. I am hoping I will have the help I need at first, then all will be gravy!

Good night, Sam. :cloud9:

I think it won't be as hard as you're worried about. Somebody told me once that having the 2nd child wasn't as dramatic a life change as it had been having the first; and the third newborn and adjustment was easier yet. I think they have 5 or 6 kids now. :rotfl:

So, Staley-girl, what's going on tomorrow?

We're going to visit FIL, I guess. DS8 asked me today if I had plans for tomorrow. I said, "No, why?" and he said, "Because Daddy, [DS4] and I are going to visit Grampa. So what are you going to do?"

I was just  , then laughed and said, "I am sure I can find something to do, sweetheart. Don't you worry about me."

I asked DH about it later this afternoon, and he said, "Oh, yeah, my dad asked if we'd visit tomorrow morning, and I said that's probably fine, but I wanted to check with you first." I asked if all of us were invited, or just "the boys", and he looked at me funny, and said, "Well, ALL of us... why?"

:rotfl2:

Good Morning Hyenas. The sun is peeking above the hill, so it looks like the start of a beautiful day. Our high today should be 85 and tomorrow 90. Take that Rain Gods!:lmao:

I'm sitting here sipping that first wonderful cup of java and then loading the car to head down to the lake. DS decided to stay home and go fishing with me this morning instead of racing, so I have some company.:thumbsup2

Good morning, hyenas!

It's sunny here, but only 49F, brrr! I just checked the forecast for the next 10 days, and starting with today, the highs will be:
Sun. 72F
Mon. 77F
Tue. 80F
Wed. 76F

Then it poops out with clouds and rain again. But 80F onTuesday??? :woohoo:

I've been buying more of the flavored creams lately. For $2.50 I can have several weeks worth of yummy coffee. Beats paying $4 at Starbucks for 1 coffee. Still not as good as Starbucks, but some of the creamers are getting awfully good.

mmm, I like the fat free cinnamon vanilla coffee mate creamer (liquid, the powder types have a weird residue/aftertaste)
The french vanilla was icky to me.

I make a fake out sugar free vanilla latte: warm milk in the microwave, coffee, sugar free vanilla syrup (davanci or torani brand). Very yummy, cheap and I get a bit of milk to drink. I'm not one to drink much milk, unless it's organic (yum!)-- so anytime I an get a bit of calcium foods in is good. :thumbsup2

Did you guys see the thread about what music you want played at your funeral??? How depressing!!! But... I think cheesy porno music would suit me.. What do you think?

I've thought of that for us. Would love to create a slide show set to music of Eloy, updating as time marches on. That way it's ready to use if the time comes. Reality is that he is at risk for illnesses and an early death. The hard part would to be to choose just ONE song, there are several he likes.

Of course now I really don't want to die, I hope that I live a long time. But I am very at peace with death, it doesn't scare me at all like it used to.

Maybe I shouldn't talk about this on here. I don't really mean to be so serious and bring everybody down. It's just something that happened in my life that affected me deeply, so I tend to talk about it.

It's funny but when I hear older people talking about dying and they seem to be very matter of fact about it, I kind of know where they are coming from.

I think we are at a level of friendship where few things are "taboo" to discuss. Of course, we have to be within the DIS rules for some things. Death is a natural part of life. We talk about our lives, natually we must talk about the end of life.

And of course I also want the bestest song ever...Sweet Home Alabama at my funeral!
:goodvibes There is something about that song that makes me want to crank it up, smile goofy and let it loose in a crazy dance. It's silly because it's not my typical choice in music.

Of course I want to be cremated and I want to have an outdoor funeral. They do it for weddings, why not a funeral also. Then I want everyone to go on a hike in the woods and sprinkle some of my ashes.

I don't want a funeral, I want a Life Celebration, complete with popcorn!popcorn::

:thumbsup2
Perfect!

I agree, who else can you talk about this kinda stuff with? We talk about EVERYTHING!

YEP!

hopefully I die in some funny bizarre way, that can make them laugh. Like starving to death because my butt got stuck in the toilet or something.

Yeah, I can just see my obituary....died in a bizarre accident while trying to bicycle off the roof using a Hefty garbage sack as a parachute. No flowers please, donations may be made to the Hyena DL Fund for Wayward Ladies!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If I am gonna GO, I wanna go out with some STYLE!! Not that starving on the toilet would have much style.. I need to think of something better.

Starving while stuck on a toilet made of gold? :confused3

:rotfl:

We had warm weather last week.. this week it's your typical grey MN fall:

Sun 64
Mon 63
Tues 58
Wed 64
Thurs 59
Fri 66

And partly sunny/partly cloudy depending on the mood of the forecaster.

I should call my sis and tell her she is OLD today. :rolleyes1

I gave her a hard time last week, I was with her at CVS as she picked out hair dye.

"Gee Br, I still have my orginal hair color, do you even know what your original hair color was?"

She growled at me. :rotfl:
