Dizzy, if I wasnt going to FL the same time I would stay outside with Alec and we would tour together as latecomers! :thumbsup2

Nope - that was good. I only had one response on the DL board and that was just to quote me the rules  . We check in that day. We are staying in Morongo the night before - so I think it is an hour drive or so (assuming I can drag DH out of there kicking and screaming)

I will try that. The sad thing is he is so tiny I could probably easily get him in without a ticket - but the fact that he has an AP is going to mess it all up :lmao: (at least his AP does not expire until the end of the trip - one less to buy :thumbsup2 )

Dizzy, if you check in that day can't you get a voucher from the hotel or at least go "check in" to the hotel and then they can give you something for Alec so he can get in too before. You would have to get there really early to do this but at least you wouldnt have to chance it.

No problem, I figure if the CM won't let him in he can watch him for an hour and drop him off in Fantasyland

That is probably what we will have to do - I guess we will need to be lined up early, so they can line up while I check in :thumbsup2

Just leave him hanging out in the pavillion between DCA & DL for a bit. Then as the regular opening time nears, report a missing child.:thumbsup2 My guess is they will have already found him, fed him breakfast, given him a nice new DL pin to wear and no one will be the wiser!:thumbsup2 :lmao:

I swear people did thisf for real at EPCOT. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

but in theory. :rotfl2:

Dang it, just spent 15 minutes to make sure they have the kids on the reservation (the paper only shows 3 adults), but I have to call "group reservation". I guess it serves me right for booking with a group :rolleyes1

OMG! Your story of the Pale People reminds me of when I went to Reno for a vacation with my mom, dad & brother right after I graduated from high school. I was 17 and my brother was 11, and since we couldn't gamble we went to the MGM Grand basement...which is filled with shops, bowling alley, movie theater, etc...We decided to go bowling but were informed that a tournament was taking place. However, the nice lady at the door said go ahead and go in, you can watch them, some of these people are really good. So in we went. We were sitting there thinking something seemed very strange, it was quiet, but noisy at the same time. After a few minutes it dawned on us...it was a deaf bowling tournament. Virtually everyone there was using sign language! You could hear the bowling balls and pins, but not a voice one, no music, etc...it was very strange indeed to be in that different culture.
It's very astute of you to call the deaf community a culture, because it very much is. They have their own language (sign), their own slang, and a very different way of viewing the world and their place in it than does the hearing world.

I worked with a woman whose HS aged son was deaf. The whole family had learned sign language, of course, and they were so excited when their son was accepted at Gallaudet, a college for the deaf on the east coast. But there was a huge uproar at Gallaudet at the time because they'd just hired a hearing (can't think of the right term for the head of the college... The top dog!) They felt that there was NO WAY someone hearing could understand the deaf culture enough to lead the university. I think the person wound up having to step down, it was that controversial.

There is huge debate also about the cochlear implants, and whether it's appropriate for a deaf person to WANT to hear, or hearing parents of deaf children to get the surgery for their child.

I need to get back to sewing but I want to go shopping instead. I'm in the mood to shop. I could easily dwindle down our trip money with as badly as I want to shop today. I dont know why. I need to stay home. Its dangerous out there for me now! :lmao:

So you are saying I shouldn't do it???

Alec knows DL pretty good. I can just leave him lined up with his AP, and tell him to meet us by Matterhorn. He can do this.

How bad will I get flamed if I post a "will they let my 5 yo in without an adult" thread???

Alex, your camera sounds cool. My good friend has some sweet SLR cameras that she has paid a nice mortgage payment on and then she also has the Panasonic Lumix camera for point and shoot hold in the pocket things. So when my Sony camera broke I asked her if she liked her Panasonic. She said it takes some pictures better than her SLR. I can capture really great low light action shots (recital pictures in motion!) with this camera that my sony never did. I absolutely love it.
That is one thing I haven't quite got yet. I wanted to take night-time pics at DL, but the first time I tried (of the castle at night, beautiful!) they were super blurry. So I bought this cool tripod that is small and has these bendable legs that can wrap around lightpoles and such, very cool. OK for fireworks (if you don't ever need to move the camera!) or shots of the castle, but not terribly helpful for other nighttime shots. :(

So you're saying I should carry TWO cameras... :lmao:

OMG!!! DO IT! I'll post that I let my 8 year old go for it so if your 5 year old is "mature" then why not. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Washington State has their schools for the Deaf and for the Blind here in Vancouver. I guess kids come from all over the state, some even live on campus. Both of the schools were located near our old office, so I was used to running into both deaf and blind student's there quite a bit. Plus quite a few of them went on to Clark College nearby, where I went to school. It's funny, but for the blind students they had walk signals that beeped when it was time to go across. I got so used to those beeping signals that when we moved our office, I was forever standing at the signals waiting for the beep instead of reading them!:lmao:

Well yesterday I posted that you could steal packets of taco sauce at Taco Bell to make homemade taco seasoning mix and so far I haven't been flamed! So maybe fellow Diser's are mellowing a bit or perhaps they haven't found my post yet?? Go ahead and give it a try!popcorn::

Alright, they do have my 2 kiddos on the reservation. I really want bunk beds or at least a day bed, but then again I am guessing there might be a lot of requests for king size beds that weekend :rolleyes1 :lmao:

So for those of you more knowledgeable about APs than I (Which should be just about anyone)... :rolleyes1

Our APs are going to expire soon, I think around Oct. 4 or 5. (That's when we had our first trip with APs.) So I got this email, and then a postcard in the mail, letting me know that if I renewed the APs before expiration, they'd take $20 off the renewal cost of each AP, so for us, it would save $80.

BUT... we're not going to DL until Dec. 5, so is that a waste of money, considering that I could just get new APs in Dec., and they'd be good again until Dec.?

We could all post that we've done something similiar every 5-6 posts or so and that it was no big deal. :lmao:
