Cool, are u going to DL? MHT?

Going to DL the 2nd-5th. No MHT again this year - one of these times we will have to do it, maybe when the kids are older. I just don't think they could handle it with my semi aggressive touring plan

Cool! I will be there for MHT on the 3rd and I'm off that day and the 6th. Maybe I'll see u and stick you on the gondolas.... I mean, to say Hi. ;) JK! :rotfl:

Good morning, hyenas!
(I'm giggling in anticipation, can you tell?) It's SUNNY!!! :rotfl2:

Did that sound a little whacked? Maybe all that SUN is going to my head!

Ok, break is over. Back to work. :( I'll try to DIS from home later. TTYL. :grouphug:

:cool2: I'm reading through Pixsters photog site. Some of the comments amaze me. I'm not that smart when it comes to photography and I'm so interested in what people have to say about it. I didnt get through all of them the other night. So I'm back. I'm on the bird.

A few years ago she had made the comment that she wanted her kids in schools were the other students "looked similar to my own kids and culture"

well that's fine, I guess, but my kids are not just "one" anything. And frankly, it's not going to be an issue to find other white middle class suburbia persons in the neighborhood. I want my boys to be more "worldly" and have friendships without barriers of class or race. Considering in the world beyond school, they will be working with people from all walks of life. Isn't that what school is for? To prepare them for life and work?
When I was growing up we always lived in more diverse neighborhoods, so we didn't really notice it. In CA there were a lot of Italians and Mexicans in town, heavy Catholic area. There was also an East Indian family or two. In WA, at least on the west side of the state, there are a lot of Asians, and at least back then, more African Americans in Seattle proper.

When we traveled to the Midwest to visit relatives, I went to the local mall with my cousins. When we walked in we saw tons of white people! And not just white people, but I swear, at least every 4th person was blond!
I muttered something to my sister about how odd the crowd looked, and she'd noticed it, too.

We went back to my aunt's house and our moms asked how the shopping trip was. I said something about how strange it was, like Twilight Zone, to be around so many white faces and blond heads, and they all looked at us like  ... including my mom! (Who, by the way, is blond haired - blue eyed..) :lmao:

Nope G. that's not what school is for at all. See it's really a place to house the children for free while we go to work when they are little, then from about 2nd grade to 6th grade it's a place for them to learn to read and write. Once they reach 7th grade they KNOW IT ALL, no use trying to teach them anything. So it then becomes a social club where they learn fashion tips and how to dress like street walkers. Then when they turn 16 it becomes like a bar, a place to pick up members of the opposite sex and learn how to party.:rotfl2: All of this is then followed by the reality when they graduate that they really don't know very much and must then pay $$$$ to a college so they can learn the stuff they should have in school!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

How do you come up with these things? OMG, and so dead on!!! :lmao:

Good Morning!!

Pix, I love love love your siggie!!

Alison, Even though you have been through alot, (And I mean alot!) , I think some of your thinking comes with age too. I'm sorry to have to break that to you. :lmao: By the way your car is cool. :cool1:

I too went from a Surbaban, to a medium, and to a sporty.

Hi Dizzy!

Yeah, I figured it had to do with my age also. Guess I just wasn't quite ready to admit that!:lmao: Well I still have my Excursion and I really will drive it a lot of the time, esp. when it starts raining. So that should be October - June, I believe! Not to mention that there are a lot of winter mornings when we are near freezing or snow is predicted, so I really do need a four wheel drive to get up the hill.

It's a beautiful car, but very impractical. I wanted to buy dog food yesterday, but the trunk wasn't big enough with the top down and I didn't want to scuff up the white interior trying to get a giant bag of dog food in the back. Nor did I want to look dorky with a 40 lb bag of dog food seat belted into the front seat.:lmao: On the plus side I get lots of cute guys looking my way...on the downside they are all less than half my age!:lmao: Not to mention that it is a kick to drive.:thumbsup2

:lmao: It was only one time! J/k! :rotfl: I was told that he downloaded a bunch of games.

Well that's better than the idiot a few years ago that stole my DH's credit card number off of his expense report (a few years ago before they started truncating part of the numbers). He left his expense report on his desk with receipts attached so he could turn it in for reimbursement. A few weeks later we get our Visa bill with a bunch of charges for internet porn sites. Needless to say we had to dispute them, then they tracked them back to my DH's computer at work. They were downloaded during the night shift when he wasn't there. Needless to say the IT department had to then set everyone up with passwords, started monitoring internet activity, put a filter on their network. It really sucks when someone has to ruin it for everyone else!

Alright, I have my priorites in line. The house is a mess, no laundry is done, but dang it I have a PS for the 5th :lmao:

You know Dizzy that really is the way to set priorities. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say in their Golden Years "I should have done the laundry more promptly and cleaned the house more". You are creating wonderful memories for your family...that is what life is all about!:thumbsup2

Besides, if your family is like mine, I bet you could quit doing laundry for a month and everyone would still have clean clothes to wear. Not to mention they are perfectly able bodied and can step over messes on the floor quite well, as a matter of fact it's good exercise. As far as the dishes, I'm sure you have perfectly clean ones in the cupboard that you can use, if not paper plates are cheap!:thumbsup2

I did that, too, when she first had the link. I'm very interested in photography, but very uneducated about it as well. If I'd ever thought about posting my photos out for the world to see, that killed it! :lmao:

I realize the comments are meant to help you get better, and I think most people actually mean theirs to be that way, but some of them are... GEE, what bee flew up your  ???

Exactly. At first I read it and I was like WOW that was harsh and then I was like Oh, she is just giving advice maybe. I just dont know ANYTHING about photography but want to learn. Its just so overwhelming. Thats why I have the point and shoot style camera! :lmao:

Alison, my mom has the same attitude, so do her friends. I agree age plays a factor. :lmao:

Only if you are there with me!!!

Dizzy, I havent seen you around here in forever. How you been girl?
Hey Shawna - all is good - just hectic - but good :goodvibes

:goodvibes Very true :lmao:

Dizzy, is it starting to cool off up there. Its been remarkably cool here lately high 90's and dry. The other morning i opened my doors before it got too warm. This was 4am mind you but still. Its coming. We may have another 2 months but its coming!!!

Ok, so far people on the DL boards are useless. What do you guys think...

DH, me, Will and Alecia will have to buy park hoppers at the start of the trip - Alec will still have his AP. Do you think they will let him in for early entry (we are staying at the grand, but will not have checked in yet) or will I have to leave him with a cast member while we run to Peter Pan???

Yep - it is beautiful right now. High in the mid 70's or so, and then chilly at night. I actually wore long sleeves to the 6:30 soccer game yesterday.

The other night we forgot to turn off the swamp cooler and the house was at 62 in the morning :lmao:

DH bought me a new camera right before our 1st DL trip. Well, for Christmas 2005, when our trip was supposed to be in April '06. Anyway, I wanted a real camera, but I don't know how to use all the features, so I wanted one that was also automated, so he got me the Nikon D40. I love it!!!

Sometimes I see these tiny, lightweight, cute little cameras that take awesome pictures, and think it would be nice to have something like that to carry around instead of my big camera and case. But I know I'd love to take a class or read up more on the features and practice using them to get better at my photography, so I'm glad I have it.

How do I come up with these things?? I'm living them!!:rotfl2:

I guess it's sort of like when you have your first baby...everything is so sterile, you buy books and try to do everything "right". Then the second one comes along, you use the 3 second rule with the pacifier on the floor, baby formula no longer needs to be heated to the exact proper temperature, the rag you just used to wipe down the dirty kitchen countertop is a perfectly acceptable burp rag.:rotfl:

OMG! Your story of the Pale People reminds me of when I went to Reno for a vacation with my mom, dad & brother right after I graduated from high school. I was 17 and my brother was 11, and since we couldn't gamble we went to the MGM Grand basement...which is filled with shops, bowling alley, movie theater, etc...We decided to go bowling but were informed that a tournament was taking place. However, the nice lady at the door said go ahead and go in, you can watch them, some of these people are really good. So in we went. We were sitting there thinking something seemed very strange, it was quiet, but noisy at the same time. After a few minutes it dawned on us...it was a deaf bowling tournament. Virtually everyone there was using sign language! You could hear the bowling balls and pins, but not a voice one, no music, etc...it was very strange indeed to be in that different culture.

I think it depends on the CM honestly. They might have to get a supervisor. When do you check in? That day? If you could explain the situation I dont see why not but i know some CM's are complete sticklers to the rules. :confused3

See how useless I was there too. :lmao:

I don't know, but I'd bring the info on the reservation for GCH just in case. Then you can show that you are staying there, just haven't checked in yet... Either that, or you or DH check in while the rest of the family lines up, then join them in line. If time permits, of course.

Alex, your camera sounds cool. My good friend has some sweet SLR cameras that she has paid a nice mortgage payment on and then she also has the Panasonic Lumix camera for point and shoot hold in the pocket things. So when my Sony camera broke I asked her if she liked her Panasonic. She said it takes some pictures better than her SLR. I can capture really great low light action shots (recital pictures in motion!) with this camera that my sony never did. I absolutely love it.

Nope - that was good. I only had one response on the DL board and that was just to quote me the rules  . We check in that day. We are staying in Morongo the night before - so I think it is an hour drive or so (assuming I can drag DH out of there kicking and screaming)

I will try that. The sad thing is he is so tiny I could probably easily get him in without a ticket - but the fact that he has an AP is going to mess it all up :lmao: (at least his AP does not expire until the end of the trip - one less to buy :thumbsup2 )
