The Celebrity Apprentice 2

If I missed another Hilter comment - I might have a change of heart - but if that was the one and only time - I say - Joan was right.
It was mentioned at least twice that I have seen on looking back on the tapes, looking for other things people said weren't said and that I found. Someone else said it was three times, but I'm sick of looking at the tivo, so I won't be looking again.

You are right..she did say that finally on the last show. Gee, I wonder why, by then she was upset with Joan LOL.

It really is moot. This whole thing was set up by Trump. It ended how he wanted it to end..pretty much like last season, only this was more blatant. Joan does wield some power in the show business arena..Annie yields no power anywhere. I fully understand why the celebrities answered the way they did, when asked who they thought should win. Clint's answer was the most honest.

If they were only going by criteria as set for the last task for the winner, then there was no reason to have the last boardroom with the audience. We already knew Joan had won the task. I'm not sure why Joan won for the most celebrities..I guess they had to actually say 'real' celebrities during the explanation. Those people Joan had creeped me out.

All that said, I do find it fun to discuss this, and see how differently we all perceived the who and why's of who should be the winner. I called Joan by the second episode..but I'm not happy that I was right LOL!

Annie called Joan a cancer, said she must die, said she was going to crush her. That's not personal?

I watched the show - I was pretty sure I knew the outcome already since things were pretty blatantly in Joan's favor throughout the series. If she hadn't been pre-selected to win they wouldn't have let her back after she walked out.

Annie is a tough woman - she might not be a traditional lady but she makes her living in a very male dominated profession and I respect her accomplishments.

Neither of them are very likable but of the two I would have preferred to see Annie win.

I'm glad Annie didn't win. She mainly focused on how deep her friend's pockets were. The way she asked those friends for money gave me the creeps. No doubt Joan's friends are very charitable, but don't need to publicize their donations on TV. Kind of like the saying about those with money don't need talk about it.

I just found the Community Board and boy do I wish I had found this earlier when the show was going on so I could have talked about the show with others who were doing so as well!

I think both contestants who were in the finale had moments where they were making comments that weren't PC and very unprofessional but to me Trump chosing Joan wasn't because she had 3 and Annie had 2. Trump's former sister in low Blaine Trump is on the Board of Directors of Joan River's Charity. God's love we Deliver. So I doubt regardless of how it ended up this years was left to the 5 parts so that Trump had the ability to chose who he wanted based on whose charity it was and to me at least Joan would have won regardless and was predetermined.

http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20125252,00.html is an old article about Blaine.

Their Divorce is still going through the courts so its not very Kosher in my mind that Trump choose the Charity that his sister in law boards with.

Till next season...now that I know they have these topics i'll be sure to chime in sooner!

Well, that's interesting. Although I don't understand if you are saying he chose Joan (and her charity) out of respect for his ex sil, or in spite of it.

No offense but Joan is right, they are trashy. Not all, but most. Like I mentioned in another post, have you ever seen these guys in the WSOP? They are some of the tackiest people I have ever seen.. and no it's not for television. That is how they really are. And FYI, Annie acts the same way as the guys in those tournaments.. she is no lady.

Wow, I play poker and gamble. I had no idea I was tacky, thank you filling me in. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

Trump's former sister in low Blaine Trump is on the Board of Directors of Joan River's Charity.

DING DING DING! We have a winner!

Also, Mark Burnett (executive producer of the Apprentice) has a new show coming out with Joan this summer.

Funny how that works...

I love Joan and I was so happy she won! She is just a classic. Annie just rubbed me the wrong way, I can't explain it but she did. I liked Joan's charity better too....although both charities need help, but I could relate to Joan's charity as I had a good friend with AIDS who could have used that kind of help at the end.

I still say the party planner was part of a setup, because I know too much about that part of the business, especially in NYC. Here is one of the largest party rental suppliers that several of the top caterers in in NYC use to supply their parties: partyrentalltd.com

If you look at the pictures of racks upon racks of equipment in these pictures alone and times it by 10,000, you'll get an estimate of the equipment ONE party supplier in the METRO NYC area has. The center picture of all the pink, is their racks upon racks of wine glasses lining and filling the walls. This isn't even their drapes or tablecloths. I've seen more variations of a single color of tablecloths than I care to in a lifetime. :headache:

That little logo in the upper left corner, of the pink hippo, is on their trucks and the T-shirts their men wear. Their trucks are parked in loading zones about every 5-10 blocks in Manhattan.

While Joan certainly doesn't know about the set up or catering side of these events, she's driven by enough of those trucks loading in & out and attended these soirees when they are all set up, to know when a NYC party planner says he can't get different colored drapes and tablecloths at the last minute, or that he ONLY has TWO colors, that this guy is a donkey's behind in knowing what he's doing. :sad2:

Even if he supplies his OWN drapes as someone said he was going to do for Annie, every NYC party planner has on speed dial, access to a few of these party rental companies. And if you have an account with them, you do have after hours access to one of their sales reps.

This isn't Smallville, USA with one guy who only has a stack of equipment in his personal garage. A holiday weekend like Memorial Day, 4th of July or the Christmas party season, there are several large parties going on at once. Some parties require 200-300 tablecloths EACH. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Ball was last week and that is a 300 table party, PLUS cocktail reception area, PLUS after-party. And it's ALL draped. :headache:

There have been many events I've worked where the wrong tablecloths were sent, or none packed at all, and LAST MINUTE, a Party Rental guy has to make an extra trip to drop them off. We can't even set anything on a table until those tablecloths arrived. There are a hundred waiters being paid on the clock and they can't set up a table until the rental arrives. We've also ordered stuff at 8pm, because we need stuff for a 11pm afterparty and found out we are short stuff. Or a waiter drops a whole try of champagne glasses on a stack of tablecloths reserved for the afterparty  and we need more.

Plus, the rental guys have to hang around till after the party's over to take back their stuff. That means they go back to the warehouse at 3am. :faint:

Joan was perfectly in her right as a client to ask what color red the curtains were. There is a very big difference in tomato red or shockingly bright, fire hydrant red hanging up, or a muted cranberry red. She had a right to delegate to someone to go and oversee and help pick the final colors. If Clint was worth anything, she would have sent him. She chose to send someone with real, professional color sense.

You think any bride :bride: is going to be told she is getting "cream" tablecloths and not want to see swatches of what shade of "cream" it is? :confused3

If the party planner got upset over that, that was his unprofessionalism. The fact that he cancelled out on Joan over an "artistic dispute" is one thing. But to then also cancel out on Annie was a second round of being unprofessionalism. He could have still chosen to do Annie's party and let Joan hang.

There might have been a lot editted out of Joan's phone call to him. But, we've also seen how she was able to get her grieving friend to laugh and go out of his way to help her find celebrity impersonators. This smells too much of "setup" to me. :snooty:

BTW, where DID Joan end up getting the curtains and tablecloths in the end?!? :confused3 They must have finally come from some party rental place. They were in the RIGHT shade of Kodak red & yellow on the tables. While her charity put them down and set up, she had to have gotten them from somewhere.

LivingtheWDWdream, Welcome to the Community Board! :wave2: Don't go away until next season. We actually have many TV show threads. It's one of the fun things here at the CB. As you have read, these can get quite lively with all the very different opinions we have about the shows. It's even more fun to talk about the shows while watching them together. :happytv: popcorn::

The only reason I wanted Annie to win was her entire record in the show. As a PM and a fund raiser she did better than anyone else. Trump never gave that a thought in the final decision, or it would have been Annie who won. Joan is in the entertainment industry and knows more millionaires than most. The fact that she couldn't get them behind her charity is a weakness IMHO.

In the end, Joan is better known than Annie and that was a big reason why she won, I think.

Time to ditch the "celebrities" and get back to real people. Watching people make phone calls to friends to get money just isn't entertaining after a few seasons.

Hmm..I relooked at the tivo. She said..and I won't be back, when Melissa left. Wouldn't that be qutting?
Nope. "I quit" is quitting.

After all she said, she expected Annie to be nice to her at the end? Excuse me..I've said several times, you are like Hitler,
But that's not what Joan said.
Trump: "Annie's charming".
Joan: "So was Hitler".
is NOT saying Annie is like Hitler. It is saying one can be charming and still be evil.
Although I did like Joan's comment about Annie spitting on the sidewalk... ;)

I certainly don't think Annie was perfect, but she did seem to know that it isn't nice to call nasty names on national television...
On the other hand, she didn't seem to know that it isn't nice to be rude and catty, and talk about team members behind their backs including comments about their apparent lack of intelligence, then turn around in a matter of hours and seem to become 'best buds'

I'm personally hated to see Joan win. Annie should have won in my opinion she raised more money which was the goal of the task,
Respectfully, that was only one of five goals - or 20%. No goal held more weight than any other one; since Annie won two and Joan won three... as Pier pointed out... Joan won.

I was laughing my butt off when Trump asked Clint who he thought should be fired and he said the editors lol
Well, really - after how many seasons of Apprentice, Celebrity Apprentice, and most other reality shows... SOMEBODY had to say it!

She started rubbing me the wrong way in the first challenge when she (a) "took over" running everything even though she wasn't the PM and (b) gave Brande such a hard time about selling the last box of cupcakes because what if somebody else came by in the last five minutes and Athena didn't have any cupcakes left to sell them? Please! What if nobody did?

Oh, but surely you heard Annie name various famous people who are her friends? ;) Many of those well-known people have a lot of money; it really can't be said she was at a disadvantage simply because she's not in the entertainment industry. Every time you turn around, "Oh, he's my friend". "We're friends". "We're good friends".

:rotfl2:

Not really sure why you're laughing, nothing too funny there but I'm glad you can crack yourself up. I take it you gamble as a hobby as do a lot of people, that's not the group that I'm referring to and that's not the group that Joan was referring to either. And you know that! But good try :thumbsup2

Hmm..I relooked at the tivo. She said..and I won't be back, when Melissa left. Wouldn't that be qutting?

Nope. "I quit" is quitting.

I agree with kaytieeldr. Also, if she didn't say it in the boardroom, and to Trump, it's not quitting.

Rick, you must work in a very calm, tame environment. I've had co-workers get so frustrated or pop a cork on the job or afterwards and swear they were quitting, or were going tell off the boss and tell him where to shove it, etc.

Then, when the boss actually walks in the room, of course they don't say that.

It was after hours, and Joan was on another floor in their "lounge" or whatever. The Boardroom was over. She can say whatever she wants at that moment. She was upset and went home to be WITH her daughter that night who was extremely upset for being fired.

Joan showed up for work the next morning. :sunny: She hadn't quit.

Thanks, Imzadi :teeth:

Hey, I have a question. And a comment. Question first. No. Comment first. What the heck was Trump thinking, claiming that Trace Adkins is a big country star because of [Trump]? Gag me, PLEASE! :rolleyes2:

Question: With all the other challenges, the winning team's PM's charity got ALL the money raised if in fact money was raised. Over $600,000 was raised in this challenge. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REST OF THE MONEY?
