As for an event planner only being able to get the TWO color drapes & tablecloths, that ridiculous. But, again, I know the major party rental suppy companies that these blockbuster fundraiser events use. There are mega-warehouses of every color imaginable that can be gotten at the last moment.

I still think Joan may be able to mop up with the Silent Auction. The thing about them is you don't need the actual person bidding to write down the bids. If just one of her monied friends sent an assistant to write down the bids, she could win.

There was an article last year that the talent for the event were told to give the candidates extreme requests just to see how thye would react. This is most likely more of the same.
