i just stumbled upon this thread and have never done paper piecing so i have a really lame question . . . where do you get the pieces to piece together and make all of these adorable accents? cricuit cutouts? kits? do you hand cut all of the pieces? some of them look custom made and so unique!

Most of us use a cutting machine of some type (Cricut for example) to cut all the pieces. Then you piece it together like a puzzle and glue everything down. This is the easiest way!

You can make them by hand but it takes a lot of patience. If I'm making a design by hand I pick a simple coloring page. Size it how big I need it to be at the copy store by reducing it or enlarging it. Then I start tracing the pieces onto thin scrapbook paper (thick cardstock doesn't work). I either hold the design I'm tracing against a sunny window or a light box and then trace with a fine tip black scrapbook marker. Cut everything out. Then you need to have a base to glue the pieces on. You can just glue everything down on black cardstock and then trim around it.

Good luck!!!

I use a pregram called Sure Cuts A Lot & a cricut machine - I hate to say this but unless you already have "SCAL2" then you would have to find another machine - I haven't messed with any of the others so I can't tell you about them

The cricut is good but now you are limited by the carts that they have. but anything that will cut an SVG file, feel free to get my files (they are Disney copyrighted so I don't charge)

where I get the ideas - anything from coloring book pages, clip art or pictures

I'll post to blog later - got a friend coming over so I don't have time at this moment

Cute! (And I see the red toes, very nice :thumbsup2 )

Reddy, do you have access to any "Colonial" Mickey clip art? I'm trying to figure out what to do for my cruise gifts and I'd love a colonial type Mickey and/or Minnie.
