For those of you who are not familiar with my family, and have not read previous trippies and the pre-trip report, please let me do the introductions:
Myself (Catherine) (41) - loves anything Disney, especially Pooh and Mickey as Sorcerors Apprentice
DH (John) (47) - luckily loves disney as well, and is usually happy to agree with my plans
DS (Stephen) (14) - not too bad as a teenager, but doesn't like rides that go upside-down!
Wednesday 2 August 2006 - Day Fourteen - MK, BB & WL
Up and ready at usual time of 7.00 am. Trip notes written and more of my book read. Out by 10.00 am and into Dennys for breakfast, although Stephen and I weren't particularly hungry.
MK today. We always make MK our first and last park, and we needed to try and do some rides that we hadn't already done. The park entrance was really busy, so we went straight up to Space to get a FastPass. We then walked through to Fantasyland and rode WTP and Snow White and the Carrousel.
We then wandered over to get a fastpass for Splash. Back over to Space as the fastpass window was now open. Now last year DS loved this ride and we must have ridden it about 6 times. While walking through the queue area (which is so long) he said he felt nervous. We got to the loading point and literally just about to get into the spaceship, and he said he didn't want to do it and took the exit. Now, I'm not keen on Space as I find it very jerky and only went on it for DS, but still rode it anyway.
On exiting we met up with him again and he still says he doesn't know why he suddenly didn't want to do it, but he just couldn't. Anyway, took the footpath back to Toontown to catch the train to Frontierland. However, DS didn't do Splash either. He did ride the Bilge Barges at US, but "I cr***ed myself then, so I'm not doing another water drop ride!" DH & I did the ride and I got quite wet even though we sat at the back.
Back towards Main Street as we wanted to go to BB. Stopped on Main Street to watch the band again, and then headed out of the park after a wistful look back up Main Street to the castle.
Once at BB there were quite a few people leaving, so we managed to find a nice shady spot with some empty chairs. We all then went on Cross Country Creek, and I went back to the chairs to read. DS & DH went on some more of the bigger rides.
We stayed for a couple of hours and then we left for Wilderness Lodge as we had and ADR at Whispering Canyon.
Again, I think this is another resort I would like to stay at.
I was looking forward to eating at Whispering Canyon as I had heard such good reports about it. I have to say I was quite disappointed. DS drank his first drink really quickly as I told him that if he did he would get the large glass. All our server did was fill his original glass again. DH asked for a large beer and got the yard glass, which he was not too happy about.
The food was OK, but I think it may depend on what your server is like, and ours did not seem to interact with us as other servers did with tables around us. DS normally loves ketchup, but decided he didn't want to ask for it when he realised what happened! Not a restaurant we will rush back to.
After our meal we took a walk round the resort.
We finally left the resort and went home via Walmart to buy DS a guitar stand he had seen earlier in the holiday.
