Has anyone tried this ?

I know its extreme but I have ten weeks to lose as much as possible.
I know this sort of thing is no good in the long term, but maybe its OK for a quick fix.

Hi

Its an excellent diet go for it as long as you dont have diabetes or any other medical problems.

I was on the lighter life diet and lost 2 stone within 6 weeks, but I changed over to Cambridge but I havent really been doing it properly. I have been feeling a little ill recently not due to the diet. I will start tomorrow properly.

:thumbsup2

My mum has been doing the lighter life diet and has lost 2 stone in 4 weeks! She really enjoys the diet, I know someone who has tried the cambridge diet and didnt like it, the shakes are meant to taste horrible. Out of the two I think lighter life is meant to be better.

Funnily enough I preferred the taste of Cambridge the Lighter Life is double the price as they changed it to 4 packs a day. You have to have 3 stone or more to go on Lighter Life.

It was the difference in price that made me choose The Cambridge over Lighter life.
The only problem is my nearest counseller is 15 miles away so its a bit of a trek every week to go and be weighed.
Never mind if it works I'm sure it will be worth it.

Angel - Does the diet still work if you have a day off it every now and then ?

I'm not saying I'll absolutely blow it for one day evey week, but the odd night out for a drink and a meal now and again will be sorely missed :guilty:

Ihave been talking to a friend of mine today and both her and her DH are on the Cambridge Diet. She has lost 8lb in 2 weeks and he has lost over a stone. They are both over the moon as this weight loss has already made a difference. She said that the person came to their house to explain it and also to weigh them. They are getting a bit bored and the rep has encouraged them to follow a healthy diet for the next week and then go back onto it for another 2 weeks with no other food options.
Whilst off it they will still be doing the shakes/soups but having a healthy meal in the evening.
Good luck.

Hi

The only problem you have when you come off the diet is you come out of ketosis your body has to start detoxing the carbs again. As long as you have protein only you should get away with it. My counsellor said you may be able to get away with a night out every 5 weeks, but dont go overboard. This is what I intend to do. However I have not been on the diet recently due to being ill. I am still feeling slightly ill, but much better than I had been. So I am starting it today.

Hi Karen,

The diet involves 3 food packs a day and 4 pints of water. The food packs can be either shakes, soups or food bar. The first few days are horrible as you are withdrawing from carbs and you can have bad headaches, tiredness etc... after 3 days its ok. Which is why I havent been able to hold out due to being ill myself.

It really does work, but it can become boring its a all or nothing diet. Although I still intend to enjoy myself at PH. :yay:

Do you get to eat a normal dinner in the evening, or is it all shakes and soups?

I don't think I could do this, I like to snack, even if it is fruit and veg.

You can't have any normal food. You should have more than 3 stone to lose to do it so I think you are too thin to do this diet!!!

Me, too thin! I don't feel it, but on a serious note, I only need to lose about 7-10 lbs which isn't too bad.

That's why I get so cross when I eat naughty foods, cuz it wouldn't take me too long to lose it if I put my mind to it.

My mum ended up losing over 5 stone in 4 months and has kept it off. I had a go and lasted 3 days before I felt like killing and eating the nearest person!

Personally, I think it is possible to lose a stone or so in 6-8 weeks by following less restrictive diet plans. I do Slimming World and, while I haven't been particularly good lately, I did lose 8 lbs in the first 2 weeks, no change for 2 weeks (well, put a couple of lbs on and lost them the next week) and this week I reckon I have lost another 2 or 3 lbs. Not a bad result really for 5 weeks.

I couldn't do anything as extreme as Lighter Life or Cambridge, purely because I do like my food and I'm not sure a shake or soup 3 or 4 times a day for ever more would be something I could stick to.

However, from what I've read about these 'extreme' diets, you are carefully monitored - if you feel like you could stick to it then go for it (however, I think the very fact that you are talking about a 'day or night off' here and there suggests this may not be the right diet for you).

Sorry Jen but for some reason this really made me laugh. I know exactly what you mean though - I would be the same. Glad I wasn't anywhere near you then though ;)

there is absoloutly no way i could go without real food !!! i would end up eating the kids i think :lmao:

as long as its not Jarvis, Nat!

I agree with Joh that by just cutting back on portions, exercising a lot more and cutting out the rubbish foods should make a difference anyway

Its alright for you, you have had your own personal trainier!! ;)

Myself and DBF have been following the cambridge diet for approx 9 weeks

i lost 17lbs in first 3 weeks and then have not really stuck to it properly:guilty: but i havent put any weight back on tho ,feels like i have lost a little bit more .

its approx £33 for me to follow as i only have 3 food packs ,dbf has 4 packs a day so its a little more costly ,our cdc is lovely .

DBf has lost 3 stone  but finds it so much easier then me as he works longer hours and lives alone ,i only work partime and have 3 kids so i really have struggled fitting the diet into my family life :sad2:

the shakes and soups are ok really and once you have passed the first few days we havent been hungery (i just greedy ;) )

i really need to focus on on it properly as i only have 33 days left till i go to Florida :cool1: and i would like to lose at least a stone .
