~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Ha, FALSE!! I was at PTA last night for 3 hours!!
OMG, WHY?:rotfl2: And don't tell me that's what "responsible" parents do; it's what insane parents do!! I've dealt with the moms-with-no-life-let-me-live-vicariously-thru-my-kids first hand. Heck, I was one!:scared1:

Jodi~ I am running the Ridgefield Half with Charlie (Judy's DH)! I welcome another BOT there to run with, cheer on and generally complain to about how bad I'll feel afterwards. Please say you'll consider this one more than the others. Even if you chose not to run it, Cam and I'll be there for the weekend and will most likely hit a dinner spot with Judy & Charlie and perhaps we can all get together for some grub (Tequila Mockingbird or the Country/Western Place we ate at before that you know about).

Howie - The only problem I have with Ridgefield is that I have tickets to see a play in the City that afternoon. 3 p.m. curtain. It's kind of a lot to cram into a day & I'd have to disappear right after the race :rolleyes1. I don't want to intrude or cramp your guys style or anything, so maybe I could come down & we could all grab a light lunch or something - that is, if I don't run the race:confused:?

If she had said she was at a PETA meeting for three hours, everything would be honkey-dorey.:rolleyes1

Jodi~ No pressure. It would be great to see you (and Bruce?) if you are around. What play are you seeing? I didn't know you were into the theatrical arts.

Remember she ran the NYC 1/2 for Broadway Barks, the voice of the homeless Times Square & Theatre District dogs:hippie:.

Colleen
- I'd opt for a colonoscopy over a 3 hr PTA meeting:lmao:. You definitely have my utmost respect:hug:

I don't know about that one, PETA even freaks me out sometimes!:rotfl2:

We'd love to meet up for some grub, I just don't want to crash your guys' party! Don't forget, poor Judy & Charlie have never met me! I LOVE the theatre. Spencer & I are going to see Jude Law in Hamlet this Sat. And on that Sunday, 10/4, we're going to see Hugh Jackman & Daniel Craig in a play called A Steady Rain.

Hi, everyone!! Well, it wasn't quite the voluntary appearance and dedication of our dear Colleen, but I spent 3 hours at Andrew's school last night running through his class schedule, meeting his teachers, and hearing about their expectations. He has 3 college level courses and that scares the hell out of me. I am thinking if I can't start running again soon, I may have to take up drinking as a stress reliever!

I saw the orthopedic specialist this morning and he is still convinced that a cartilidge graft is in my future. Because I want to run. If I "just wanted to walk or do stairs", we could cruise along as I am now. But if I want to run, it ultimately needs to be repaired. For the moment, we are going to do another cortizone shot the Wednesday before the RftT and then start a 1x/week, 3 week series of injections of a synthetic joint lubricant. That might get me through 1/2 marathon training with another cortizone shot before that weekend. After that we are probably looking at an open-knee surgery where they take a "plug" of bone & cartilidge from a non-weight bearing part of the knee and put it in where the lesion/destroyed cartilidge is. The problem with that is that I have to be completely off that leg for a period of time after the surgery -- not even a walking cast, absolutely no weight bearing for a while. So, that is a tough decision and I have to do a ton of research before we get to the point of scheduling surgery. Oh, and I have to get through the next 3 weeks before I get another shot (didnt' want to do it today and not be able to have the benefit for the race on October 11). So, it's "suck it up, Cam" time. No running (hah! like that's possible) and "be conscious and conscientious" about how much wear and tear" I put on the knee in the next few weeks. Sound fun?

So, I'm living vicariously. Did anyone run in gorgeous, cool, fall-like weather this morning? :)

Cam - I'm so sorry that your knee is so messed up. I hope that you are able to complete the RFTT without too much pain and are able to find the best long term solution that allow you to keep running Disney races!

Below is the language I cut and paste from the email I just got from the Baltimore Marathon. Based on the finish line food, don't you all wish you were running? Mmmmm, munchkins :)

This year, we are excited to have added some extra benefits at the finishline this year. Aquafina will be providing bottled water for all the finishers and conducting a recycling program of all the plastic bottles. Dunkin Donuts will provide Munchkin Donut Hole Treats, Phillips will be offering warm Crab Soup, Atlanta Bread Company will be providing bagels and Smart Balance will offer various spreads to sample. As always, we will have Michelob Ultra on tap for all of our of-age finishers.

Cindy - That's making me hungry! They had Munchkins at Frederick when I ran it. In fact, that's ALL they had.:confused3

Cam - You're one tough cookie to go through all this and still have the desire to run. I can tell you that I wouldn't be so dedicated.:worship:

Jodi - I've got no need for Broadway. Way plenty enough drama in my own house for my tastes.

Howdy to everyone else.

Well, let's see. DD6 was home sick today for the 4th day in a row (garden variety flu?, H1N1?, other virus?) Good to get the pressure of perfect attendance out of the way in week 2 of school.

Take care all.

Good Morning BOTS!! It's 12:01 AM! :scared1:

My son took up some computer time tonight with some physics homework or something. :sad2: Good that he is getting it done though. :thumbsup2

I ran for the last time before the Philadelphia Distance Run this weekend. I am going to consider this my taper.

Miles: 4.0
Time: 34:13
Pace: 8:33
Spilts: 9:05, 8:33, 8:24 and 8:11

Notice the negative splits again. :confused3 The last time I ran this pace was back on November 16, 2008 and just prior on November 3, 2008 during my training for the 2008 Philadelphia Marathon. I was fighting the plantar faciitus issue back then. :sad2: Tonight, I put it out there to see what I could handle and what the knee would feel like at that pace.

It felt pretty good. No major issues. I will probably feel it a bit in the morning, but so far it feels just fine.

Have a great Friday and weekend ahead!

Cindy~ Mmmm...donut holes... beer...bagels....Mmmm.

Mike~ I hope your daughter feels better soon!

:grouphug:

Hi Everyone, I've been running, my shin still hurts, blah, blah, blah...

I just had to share this with someone though. You guys have to keep this quiet though, OK. Deal? Don't post this anywhere, just for BOT eyes only.

I just got off the phone with Iron Chef Cat Cora! I was able to interview her for the DIS Unplugged podcast about her new restaurant Kouzzina. She was absolutely great, and I really want to try out her new restaurant. She made me hungry.

OK, I'm sneaking back out now...

 COOL! :worship:

No worries, Dave. Even though I don't have a BOT license, I promise not to tell! :littleangel:

Dave - That's really cool. We picked up a menu when we were down there but didn't get a chance to try it out. Everything sounded really good.

Matt and Cindy - Are either of you running the MCM 10K? I have to work so couldn't make it down in time but was just curious.

Howard, Lou, and Jen - Good luck at PDR this weekend!

Matt and I just landed in Phoenix. (his grandfather passed away) Apparently they plan for us to sit on the plane all night rather than pull up to a gate.

Mike - no MCM for us this year b/c we will be at ToT. After this year, however, I intend to make it an annual tradition, unless, of course Disney has its new fall race at that time next year . . .

Good morning Bots,

Thinking about all the PDRers this morning! Good luck friends!

8 miles for me on Friday, on a treadmill, lots of rain here the last four days. I hurt more now than I did after the 15 last week. Weird!

Dh got 12.5 miles in this morning for a total of 30 miles for the week. He is very proud of the miles considering he was in Germany all week. (He got just back last night.):thumbsup2

Hey Everyone, I'm thinking of my friends at the PDR too. Hope everyone had a good run. I got 6 miles in yesterday in 56 min/9:20 mpm. Not too bad for me. My left shin is still a little sore, I'm icing it, taking alleve, and using "the stick" on it.
