~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hey Lou: I am on the Disneyland podcast. I didn't remember that you listened to the DIS Unplugged, or I would have let you know. Yeah, my segment is in the last 15 minutes of the show. It's a hoot.

I did 3 miles today on the TM. Nothing too great. I was able to watch the Survivor episode I missed (because DW had to watch American Idol) on my iPhone.

Oh, I really don't want to push here too much with fundraising, but we're getting really, really close to raising $1,000 for Give Kids the World with our Muddy Buddy fundraiser. If anyone wants to donate, you can check out the link in my siggy. It would be so cool to get to $1,000 by the end of the week.

LOL!!! How in the world I posted in the wrong thread, I have no idea? :confused3

Miss you guys! Maybe we'll see you in Baltimore, depending on Howard's fall race schedule. :cool1:

Lounatic - Nice chit-chatting with you as well! So glad you'll be in Baltimore. No more running until Sunday's race, kay? BTW, will you run even if it's pouring like they're predicting?popcorn:: Not me, man, I get wicked blisters in the rain.

Cam - HI!:yay::hug::hug:Glad you come to visit us once in a while! I hope you guys can make it to Baltimore. Wouldn't it be great if Howard got into NYC, too????

Dave - You've already run quite a bit, so don't stress over "only 3" on the dreadmill! You're gonna have a blast in the Muddy Buddy! What are you doing about getting a bike down there? Good luck with the FUNDRAISING!!!!, ahem.;)

Howard - I'm feelin' real bad about your foot. Please, just give it the time it needs. In the meantime, pick up "ChiRunning" & give it a read, i think you'll like it. BTW, Cam said you're going to run Baltimore :rolleyes1. Oooh, speaking of which, I must register by the first!

Colleen - Please don't let our chat put you off free dining! GO!!!

I hope ALL my BOTS get into NYC!

I ran 8 miles today, one of those runs that makes you think "wow, this is great". Those are SO far & few between for me lately, so I'm happy. The Cloud & I are going to NYC to celebrate our anniversary tomorrow, it should be a nice day out. I'll try & sneak in a short run early a.m. before we go.

I'm still not sure I'll run that 1/2 next Sunday, all depends on the weather report :rotfl:. No, really.

I've been checking the Pittsburgh Marathon website everyday, and they just posted this. I have no idea where I am on the waitlist, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed I get an e-mail...

1500 PEOPLE WILL BE ADMITTED FROM THE WAIT LIST TO THE MARATHON, HALF MARATHON AND MARATHON RELAY!

Please do not call the Marathon Office regarding your status. Check your email for notification. The Wait List is closed; no new runners will be accepted. Beginning Monday, March 30, emails will go out to Wait List runners on a first-come, first-serve basis (by time of Wait List registration.) You will have 48 hours from time of notification to register. If you do not register in that time frame we will give your place to the next person on the Wait List.

Good Morning Everyone: :surfweb: I just wanted to catch up with everyone as I'm waking up and fueling up for my long run.

Hi Jodi :wave2: Great job on your 8 mile run. WTG! :thumbsup2 Have a great time on your anniversary with the Cloud. Which anniversary is this for you guys? No, I wasn't fretting "only" 3 miles on the TM. It was what it was. I had run so much with Cindy and Matt during the week that I didn't want to push it too much. I wanted to save something for my LR today. About the Muddy Buddy, I still haven't figured out the bike issue. Not sure what we're doing, but we're working on it. I'm really hoping we could just borrow a bike from someone. Something will work out.

Chester, you wouldn't have an extra bike we could borrow for the Muddy Buddy, would you? Just throw it in the ark maybe?

Hi Cam :wave2: You're always welcome here.

Howard- WISHing you well on your foot.

Lou- Good luck with the Ocean Drive 10 miler. Have fun tomorrow. Oh and by the way, GO PITT!!!

Jen- Good to "see" you. Did I hear you're running the Disneyland Half this year? I'm going to try to do that too. Are you and Butch on Facebook? I thought I remember you saying you were, but I can't seem to find you.

Colleen- So, are you going for Free Dining? Have fun if you are...

Hi Sara- Good luck with your 10 miler this weekend.

Hi Cindy, Hi Matt (even though you never post) :wave2:

Howdy Mike

OK, I guess I should gear up if I'm actually going to run.

Hey everyone :hippie:

Lou: I hope your race goes well despite this yucky weather. Are you in for Broad Street this year?

Dave: Good luck with the wait list at Pitt-- it sounds like good odds, keep us posted.

HOward: hope you are having a nice trip and that the foot is behaving

As for my next race-- we are doing Broad Street in Philia on May 3rd then the DL 1/2 on Labor Day weekend. The fall schedule is still undecided but I'd love to join the Bots in Baltimore. We are doing Goofy in Jan too.

I'm currently debating with myself where to stay in DL-- the 5 nights for the price of 3 thing makes staying on property much more tempting-- about $30 more per night than off property, not quite sure if it is worth it but the Disney snob in me prefers to be on site... any opinions? DD5 will be with us if that sways any opinions. Does anyone know if the free dining is also at DL or is it just a WDW thing?

Hey Everyone: Just wanted to report that I got my long run in. I did 14 miles in 2:20 a steady 10 min/mile pace. I'm intentionally trying to slow down a little on my long runs. I think I was running them too fast before Philly, and that's why I injured myself. Plus, I'm trying to squeeze ramping up my training into a short period of time before Pittsburgh on May 3rd. So I figure I'll concentrate on building up endurance, and not worry about the speed. If I keep adding 2 miles/week to my long runs, I can get one 20 miler in and then a taper week before Pittsburgh.

Hi Jen, right now I'm shooting for the DL Half too. I've never stayed on site at Disneyland (and I haven't been there since 1992). However, from the research I was doing, I'm going to try to stay at the Disneyland Hotel if I can swing it. The thing that swayed me is the pool complex. I don't know when I'll get back to DL, and I know my girls would love that Neverland Pool complex. $30/night doesn't sound that bad to me at all.

Also, no DL doesn't have free dining. It's a WDW thing. DL doesn't have the same type of dining plan that WDW has.

I'm actually going out to California next week for work, and I'm going to tack on a day at DL just to check it out. I'm staying 1 night at the HoJos. They have a great rate for Entertainment Book holders - it's only $59/night. I couldn't beat that anywhere.

Thanks to all for the congrats on the half last weekend. I’m officially back in training mode and am going to register today for the Maryland Double that Mike mentioned a few pages back – do the Frederick Marathon in May and Baltimore in Oct. (I’ll do the half at both) – and get a 3rd medal! And (unlike the Goofy) save $10! (I’m such a sucker for the extra medal deals - throw in a discount and I can't say no!) Dave – Matt said he is going to go for the full in Baltimore.

Mike – Congrats again on an excellent PR last weekend! I can’t believe you had to work the night after running a marathon!

Cam – I’ve been thinking about the DE Half. We could do it, but that is the only weekend in May that we don’t have something scheduled, so I think we’ll have to pass.

Chester – I hope things are ok at work for you.

Howard – by the time you read this, you’ll be back from WDW. I hope you had a great time and the foot didn’t cause you problems.

Jodi
– Happy anniversary! Yeah, I meant what I said on FB – I’m not going to do any marathons this year. I’d like to focus on getting faster in the half before I go back to a marathon. I also will not do another marathon unless I am able to train like I trained for Philly and right now, I feel like I have too much going on to commit to the 50+ mile weeks. Happy belated birthday to Spencer – that’s cool that you got him a training book. Have you registered for the Yeti yet? There is a small chance that Matt and I may head down for ToT this year.

Dave – I really enjoyed getting to see and run with you last week. There is no way I would have gotten up 3 days in a row to run if we hadn’t had plans to meet you. We listened to the podcast on our drive up to Delaware yesterday – too funny! Nice job on the run. I 100% support you running your long runs at a slower pace – if you want to run faster during the week, throw in a tempo run or some speedwork.

Sara – I’m glad to hear that you are in for Baltimore!!

Jen – Do Baltimore! Don’t worry about it being too close to the PDR. Since you’ll be training for the Goofy, doing halfs a few weeks apart won’t seem like a big deal.

Colleen – Did you decide on your August trip yet?

Lou – Waiting for a race report!

As for my running, after my three runs with Dave, I rested on Thursday, ran 4 on Friday, and am planning on running 10 today. Couldn’t run yesterday because we had to travel up to Wilmington DE for a funeral (my Dad’s fiancée’s father).

Yesterday we got a fraud alert on our credit card. This has happened before and it has always been charges that we made but the cc company wanted us to verify. Turns out this time someone actually stole our cc number and was using it to make charges since earlier in the week. Kind of annoying, in that we have to cancel a number of automatic payments, but I’m glad they caught it.

Colleen – Did you decide on your August trip yet?

Hi cindy, I think so, now that free dining was released a little earlier in August this year, we will take advantage of that. So we moved from early August to August 16th arrival date. That gives us more time in Canada to see the family.

Jodi, how was NYC anniversary trip? I guess I should head over and enter the NYC lottery...

Howard and Cam, hope Jen is doing well in her WDW adventure. What a cool thing to do. It would be interesting to see Disney from a different perspective.

Lou, good luck in your race today. Details, details?popcorn::

Dave, I haven't listened to a podcast yet, I should make my way over there too.

Hey BOTS!

Just a quick drive-by! I registerd for the Baltimore 1/2 as well today!

Don't forget, the price goes up on the first of April :headache:.

Now to find a hotel :surfweb:.

Well, I'm back. I'm a little disappointed in the performance but I guess you can't have your A game every race.

Weather - It was about 45 degrees and damp/misty at the start and throughout the race. Not bad but the wind was basically in your face the entire run.

Pre-Race - This is a point to point race for the marathon and 10-miler so most runners, like me, park at the finish and take a shuttle bus to the start area. I road with a lady from Chicago who was running the marathon. She was in her 50's and was 6 states away from running a marathon in all 50 states. I was impressed and felt like a wuss for only running the 10 miles.

The start area is in Cape May at a nice hotel right on the ocean. Everyone just piles into the hotel and camps out for an hour before the race. Not a bad perk.

Both races start at the same place and same time. This is odd. They should have let the 10-milers go out first to get them separated from the marathon runners. You have about 350-400 runners for each race so you have a bunch of runners jumbled up for a few miles running at different paces.

Course - I think the course is actually very scenic. Unlike LBI, where you run on an island and never see water, this 10 miles was adjacent to water and crossing over water a lot. There were more hills then expected because you have to go over a number of bridges to get from island to island. The bridges were kind of steep but they were very slippery, especially the draw bridge sections which were metal grates.

I knew going in to expect the wind to be in my face so it didn't shock me. It actually wasn't as bad as expected so I am not making that an excuse.

Race Performance - WEAK! I didn't have it in me today. Nicole and I had a few mararitas on Friday and I think that did me in. I had nothing in the gas tank. I was breathing SO heavy the first 2 miles. I from Mile 3-8 I just shifted into a low gear. I tried to turn it on the last 2 miles but was just beat. My legs were DEAD. Enough whining...it's over.

Post Race - This was WEAK. Watered down gatorade, water, oranges, and bananas...that's it. Worst post=race spread I ever saw. I hope the marathon spread was better.

Next up...Penn Distance Classic 20K (4/19).

Lou - Sorry that the race wasn't all you had hoped for, but, you did just run a kick-a$$ half PR a couple of weeks ago.

Jodi - glad you are also in for the half in Baltimore:cool1:

Matt just registered for the FULL!

I just wanted to check in for all you not on FB. Oh wait, that's just me!

Lou - Sorry the race didn't turn out like you hoped but nice job anyway.

Cindy - I'd do the Maryland double too but I have to work and it's too late to try to arrange off for Frederick. I'm very interested to hear your impressions of that race.

Dave - I hope the Pg waitlist works out. Nice job on the 14 miles.

Howard - How was your trip to WDW? How is Jen liking her stay there?

Jen - Plenty of time between PDR and Baltimore! You're going to be running that much as part of your training as it is. Might as well get a medal for it.

Jodi - Happy anniversary!

Hi to everyone else!

Mike, have you recovered yet?
Yes and no. I ran 6 on Tuesday, 7 on Wednesday, and 7+ today. No aches or pains but after about 2 miles I'm COMPLETELY out of gas! I guess I shouldn't be too greedy.

Take care everyone.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Wendy posted this on the Lean Meaner thread and her words resonated with me, so I thought I'd pass it along as it serves as the inspiration for this week's mixer. :flower3:

It feels like Spring in my head-- a time for cleaning out the junk, renewing my resolve, and enjoying all that is beautiful around me. It's a renewed hope thing -- Do you feel that way, too?

So, WISHers, springtime is in the air as well as on the calendar. And even if your neighborhood isn't enjoying springlike weather quite yet, it's fun to plan for that day that's just around the corner. So this week's set of related prompts are...

What outdoor activity (or activities) do you most look forward to in the spring, and why? What is an annual spring tradition for you? How do you enjoy that first, perfect spring day?

Feel free to talk about prepping the bike for the season's first ride or the first run in shorts. But we're also interested in hearing about other activities: gardening, kite-flying, spring cleaning, picnics, roller blading, hiking, and so on.

So tell us your stories. The 'Ohana Monday Mixer starts here.

P.S. And a personal note to the Bots. It's Baltimore, then, that's the fall Bot race? I've put it on my Google calendar and DOOD and I will see if it works with our schedules. Not that I'm stalking you or anything. :goodvibes

Greetings Everyone: Rest day for me yesterday. It felt good to hang out around the house, get caught up on chores, etc. I have to go out of town again this week. I'm heading to San Diego for a conference Wed --> Saturday. :thumbsup2

Jodi- Happy anniversary to you and The Cloud. I checked with my sister for the Baltimore Marathon and got the OK for us (meaning my family - not all you, sorry) to stay with her. I'm planning on running the full. I probably won't register by the April 1st deadline because I'm hoping I need to register for Pittsburgh. Plus, I need new shoes, and my extra "fun" money is dwindling. I just checked and it's only a $10 price difference after April 1st. I won't have to pay for a hotel, so I think I'll wait to register.

Cindy- Sorry about the funeral you had to go to. That's never any fun. Glad you liked the Podcast segment though. Did you get your 10 miler in yesterday. Are you and Matt still running together, or did that end after I left? I'm planning on running the full in Baltimore. That's going to be my full for the year. I decided IF I can get into Pittsburgh, that I'm going to do the half. I just don't have enough time to get the training in for the full, and I don't want to hurt myself again. Tell Matt I'd love to run with him for the Full in Baltimore. I'd also love to shoot for a sub-4:00 full. I think I might try that training plan that you both were using.

Colleen- I'm so glad you'll be able to take advantage of Free Dining. That's such a good deal. Are you going to try to come up to Baltimore?

Lou- Sorry your race didn't go the way you hoped. Just look at it as a training run. Maybe you expended too much energy rooting for Villanova over Pitt. :confused3

Hi Mike :wave2: Sounds like you are still recovering from your full marathon. Take it easy on your body.

Hello Howard- Hope you had fun at WDW. Is Jen doing the College Program?

DK- Fall Bot race is Baltimore. You and the DOOD come join us. You know you're a Bot!

Cindy - I'd do the Maryland double too but I have to work and it's too late to try to arrange off for Frederick.

Does that mean that you are going to do the other half of the double and run Baltimore?

Are you and Matt still running together, or did that end after I left? I'm planning on running the full in Baltimore. That's going to be my full for the year. I decided IF I can get into Pittsburgh, that I'm going to do the half. I just don't have enough time to get the training in for the full, and I don't want to hurt myself again. Ha! No. Matt and I are not running together. That was definitely an "only while Dave is here" thing. I think running the half in Pittsburg makes sense and you know I 100% recommend the Advanced Marathoning book, just make sure to run all of the slow runs as slow are you are supposed to. (Oh, and Matt said he is going to try for a 3:45 in Baltimore)

As for me, I only got in 8 instead of 10 yesterday. By the time I got out there, the wind was crazy and running into it just really tired me out.

I just wanted to check in for all you not on FB. Oh wait, that's just me!
Oh, I'm right there with you my friend:hippie:

Jodi - Happy Anniversaryparty: For Baltimore I'm in at the Homewood Suites on So President.

Dave - Awesome job on the 14 miles:banana:. Glad you got the okay for Baltimore and Matt will have company for the full:woohoo:

Cindy - Congrats on officially being back in training mode:yay: Sorry about both the funeral and the cc fraud:headache:

Colleen - What's your calendar looking like for Monday, 4/13 for dinnerpopcorn::?

Jen - Another vote for you and Butch joining us in Baltimore:grouphug:

Lou - Glad you're putting the race squarely in the past and realizing you just smoked a PR recently so no sense sweating this one:thumbsup2. The Penn Distance Classic will be here before you know it:cool1:.

Howard - Hoping you had a splendid time with Jenn and the foot's being kind to you:hug:

I'm still not feeling the running mojo these days:confused3 and it poured yesterday so I had to put in the miles on the TM:sad1: Have a great week guys:grouphug:

Good job on your 8 yesterday Cindy. OK, maybe I'll try to run with Matt for the first half of the Baltimore marathon, and then see if I can hang on for a sub-4 the second half by myself.
