The "Boo to Us" Weight Loss Challenge

So today I finally got back to doing some exercising. I decided that I've had enough of spreading my bahookie and it was time to get up and hit the boards! Literally!

I spent the better part of an hour exercising around the house this morning...yes, I know that it's not quite hitting the gym but I jogged on the spot and mixed it up with walking for about 30 minutes. Then I did some of those arm dips and leg squats that we all hate but are supposed to be so good for us....and I spent another 15 minutes doing tummy tucks and leg exercises.

I've also been fairly good with food for the last week; and this evening after the modest dinner of a slice of quiche and loads of salad, I took my bike out for a 20 minute spin around the park.

Yes, I think I'm going to keep this thread firmly in mind and keep pushing towards losing that weight I so want to lose.

So we've been swimming lately. I haven't lost any weight, but I think I look better. I asked Fran if she could tell any difference in me, and she said, "yeah, you look a little better, your stomach is not so poochy!" :lmao:

Too funny! I wish my stomach looked less poochy! To be honest, I am not sure where the weight is coming of from, maybe just a teeny bit everywhere?

So rumor has it you are doing quite well....the rest of us need inspiration. I started about three weeks ago and I'm down 7 lbs, but my biggest nemesis is how I love to have glasses(s) of wine. I did great when I first started, having one glass per night and I dropped six pounds instantly. Now I find myself having another 1 or 2 glasses and I know that has extra calories. No matter how many I save during the day by eating salads or fruit instead of Drive through burgers, I know each glass adds another 100-200 calories each!

Yikes! I wish I had more than just this dress I want to get into to motivate me to lose the weight. Anyways....we'll see how I am in a month!

And I'm back too.....started being good again at the start of this week. It's been pretty decent spring weather all week, and I realised that I need to get my bahookie in shape if I want to be seen out and about this summer.

So, I'm building up the bike riding and am now up to 6 - 7 km stints around the velodrome. I've been on my bike 3 times this week (if you count Saturday's effort).

I've also cut down on portion sizes and next on my hit list is to decrease my sugar intake. That's been my down fall all winter....sitting on the Dis and snacking!

My downfall is the carbs. We had our leftovers from Mrs. Knotts chicken dinner. We'll be good from here on out, at least I will. I've planned our dinners for the next week, and we'll be eating healthy!

:rotfl: I am doing HORIBBLY. I have managed somehow to GAIN weight. :confused3 I am so frustrated with myself right now, but I am trying to channel that frustration into motivation. I have new vacation plans now, rather than the fall trip to WDW I had planned, Jack and I are sailing on the DCL Wonder to the Mexican Riviera and then spending 2 days at DLR!!! I have 66 days (our sail date is 10/30) to get my butt in gear, so this thread could not have been resurected at a more convenient time!! I need motivation!!!!! Thankfully the summer of feasting is pretty much over. I have one big dinner coming up in September, but other than that I don't think I have any huge "eating events".

It's so funny to hear you talk about summer coming when our summer is winding down! I need to get back on track! I want the weight OFF by the holidays so that I can enjoy eating and not feeling guilty.

My downfall is the carbs. We had our leftovers from Mrs. Knotts chicken dinner. We'll be good from here on out, at least I will. I've planned our dinners for the next week, and we'll be eating healthy!

Carbs are my favorite things. And chicken tenders. And beer. And sugar. Ok, I have lots of downfalls!

franandaj- This won't help the diet talk, but when Jack and go to DCA we are going to do a dinner package for World of Color. Which restaurant would you recommend? I don't eat seafood...

BTW I saw your name on the October thread (we're going at the beginning of the month), so I knew you were coming. I would recommend Ariel's Grotto. The things I heard (at least last summer) about Wine Country Traytoria were inconsistent and not a good value.

At Ariel's the appetizers are served family style you would want the vegetarian plate, the other one has seafood on it. Their tri tip is really good, and I enjoyed the vegetarian pasta entree, and I'm a real meat eater. PIO can tell you about the picnics. I've heard they are OK, but nothing special.

Three weeks ago when I decided to do this seriously I was up to my highest weight ever. I'm down from there but I think I have another 20+ pounds to go to get in this dress. Why? So I can eat German foodlike a pig and drink beer like a fish! :lmao:

Tonight we'll be having Chef salad, breakfast will be some diet cereal, V8, cottage cheese and applesauce. Not sure on lunch, maybe my chicken, feta and spinach sausage, or half a can of chili plus a piece of fruit.

Doesn't it suck how many calories are in booze? :headache:

Excellent, I will go with Ariels then! I do love me some tri tip! I had already decided against the picnics, I looked at the options and none of them really appealed to me.

I think I am almost up to my highest non pregnancy weight. Seriously none of my clothes fit well, and it really snuck up on me. I wasn't aware I was being that "bad". I just can't figure it out. Lunch today will be a single serving of edamame, and maybe something from our cafeteria, since it's all about wellness in there. We are having leftovers for dinner, we have some tri tip and some steak, and various veggies etc.

It absolutely does suck that all booze has calories. Except the "skinny" stuff which I never like. :rotfl: Go figure!

P.S. I am sure I will be coming to you for lots of DLR advice, since we only really 1 1/2 days, I will need to make the most of it :goodvibes

Goodness! Activity on this thread! :woohoo:

Nice to see you again Steph. And wow....66 days? Sounds like a quick countdown to me!

My day was a mixed bag. I started off on a bad foot this morning, so to speak. The company that I'm currently in has just recently (as in the last 2 weeks) built and installed a new coffee shop in the floor that I'm located in. Long story - but the upshot is that I can get proper barista made coffee there for $2 a cup. And they sell muffins there for $2. It sure beats paying $6 of $7 for a similar purchase outside the office.

Being on the floor and seeing that I have to walk past it every morning that I work, it's been really hard to ignore the smell and the low cost of my favourite morning brew.

So, despite having every intention of not getting a muffin this morning, it was all too easy to slide into the 'normal' purchase because the server had already started to bag the muffin up for me. :sad2: (hanging my head in shame).

But, I made up for it at lunchtime. Today, I got a small Thai beef salad for lunch. By WW standards, there would have been all of 3 - 4 points in it...mostly because of the beef.

Snacks have been good too - two pieces of fruit; one at morning tea and the other at afternoon tea.

Now I'm home and waiting for dinner. It's Friday night and we normally have Fish and Chips for dinner. I'm going to have the fish and remove the batter off it and no chips. That'll keep me well within my WW allowance today.

Hope you're all on track.

Today has been ok so far. I had a WW breakfast sandwich and a glass of milk for breakfast. I plan on having edamame for lunch, and a sub sandwich for dinner. I drink a lot of coffee too, but it fills me up and gives the much needed energy right now. Plus the coffee itself isn't bad, it's the creamer I put in :goodvibes I plan to take a long walk this evening with Jack and the dog. Since we are only doing 1 full park day at Disneyland, I am seriously considering not renting a stroller so I want to work on his walking stamina. Plus I NEED to exercise. That's where my diet is failing, I am just not moving as much as I should.

We spent the last six months clearing out the FIL's house, moving boxes and wearing myself out daily. I thought that counted for something, but obviously not.

I haven't eaten anything yet today (not even dressed yet!) Yesterday I did pretty good. Breakfast was V8, Starbucks coffee and a bowl of Fiber One. Lunch was a wonton noodle soup bowl. It's low in calorie, but you need to understand that you are getting your daily allotment of sodium. I had a bowl of cantaloupe for an afternoon snack and Chef's salad for dinner. I was hungry before bed and had some rye toast and applesauce.

I have an immediate goal (end of Sept) which I am 28% towards. I will keep a further goal once I hit the first one or Oct hits.

Oh, I forgot to say....ask me whatever you want about DLR, Steph, I've been there a few times :rolleyes1

Today, I didn't exactly stick to plan. We were meeting friends for breakfast and I had every intention of doing a simple poached eggs on toast option. But there was French Toast on the menu; so I indulged.

To make up for the breakfast, I didn't have lunch. Afternoon snack consisted for some wheat biscuits and an apple.

Dinner was a bowl of gnocchi - well within WW portion size recommendations.

I had hoped to get out to ride my bike, but we ended up doing some garden home repairs instead.

Hope you're all well.

I will totally be taking you up on that! I've been to DLR a bunch, but the last time was in May '08 when Jack was 4 weeks old, and I know a lot has changed since then!

I did ok yesterday, stuck to the plan... until I remembered I promised Jack ice cream...

Today should be better, Jack is sick today so I will probably leave work early since he is at home with my sister... she's not the best with children...

I had a WW breakfast sandwich and coffee for breakfast, and I have half a sandwich and edamame for lunch. I will probably eat the other half sandwich for dinner, and maybe have some Wholly Guacamole with it.

I did get out for a decent walk yesterday, and I plan on doing the same this afternoon/evening if Jack is up to it. If not I may wait till he is in bed.

Tomorrow I will be super good becuase we are going to Mongolian BBQ tomorrow night, which is actually not bad for you as long as you don't eat a ton. Usually 1 plate is plenty for me so it will be yummy and healthy!

Not a good day today. We headed out to a springtime festival and I ended up eating far more sweet things than I should have (and we won't even talk about portion sizes).

Ah well...I'm still full (although a little peckish) and dinner is definitely not on the menu tonight.

I actually weighed myself this morning and I wanted to cry. I hadn't weighed myself in a while, I just knew I had gained because NONE of my pants fit right, but I had no idea it was so bad. I weigh more now than I ever have except while pregnant. I actually weigh more now than I did for probably the first 4 months of my pregnancy. This is the end of the line, this HAS to stop! Of course I had Chinese for dinner last night (I weighed myself this morning before I left for work) though I will say I was much more careful about portion size than I usually am. And my sister brought home gelatto for dessert. But all that stops now, I had a WW breakfast sandwich and I have had 1 Starbucks Via iced coffee and I am having a regualr cup of coffee, with 1/2 the creamer I would normally have. I will be having edamame and water for lunch. And I will still go to Mongolian BBQ tonight, but any thoughts I had about getting an adult beverage are gone. And I WILL be exercising tonight and every night from now on. I am so mad at myself right now for letting it get to this point, but at least I can use that anger as motivation!!! It's on!

I didn't do so good yesterday. I was up until 3AM Fri nite/Sat morn because our friend went to emergency and was admitted overnight. Being tired is bad for my diet. I ended up driving through McDonald's on my way home from visiting in the hospital. Later I made a package of noodles and sauce for lunch. I drank a lot of water yesterday and had the dinner I had planned which was a chicken casserole and green beans. I was up a pound and a half this morning.

I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself every day, but it's hard not to when it's right there in the bathroom. Today I feel better and have a healthier dinner planned. I'll be feeding about 8-10 people this evening and we'll be having an early dinner so that's good.
