The Boardwalk Inn Information Thread

We were at the BWI from Nov 1- Nov 8 and stayed in room 5270 which was wonderful and met all of our request that we had made with our reservation. We had requested non-smoking, fifth floor with Epcot Illuminations view, balcony and a daybed. It had everything we had requested and wasn't too far from the elevators.

L&MsMom, I think we stayed in 5269 right across the hall! We had a semi- BW view but would love 5270 for our upcoming trip since we have requested all the same things you did!

I stayed in room 5274 on my first visit, and I agree, it was wonderful! We were able to watch and hear Illuminations (at least the high fireworks) and had a fantastic Mousekeeper. She and my son played "hide the Komodo" all weekend long.

(He had purchased a 3-4 foot plush Komodo at AK; the first day he accidently left it in his bed; we found it hiding behind the shower curtain when we returned, and the game was on!)

momtotwinglesx4 - I have never stayed in a deluxe concierge bwi room but will be doing so in Feb. I have gotten some info on them though and I'll be happy to pass it to you. This is from Disney Guest Services so it is hopefully accurate - Concierge Deluxe Room - 644sq Two Queen Beds & One Queen Sofa Bed I know it isn't much info but it's all I've got - besides the room layout on the Disney web site. These are the largest Deluxe rooms in the Epcot area (Disney owned). Please post about your stay when you get back as you'll be there before us.

I am familiar with the boardwalk area since I usually stay at the Beach Club. This spring I am staying at the Boardwalk Inn. I am exicted to try a new resort but have questions. Can someone give me some info on what the resort views are and what view/room characteristics you would request? Is there a map anywhere like the maps available on the Beach Club thread? I have a standard room booked now.

I am so glad someone bumped this thread! It may take a while to read all of it but it is definately worth the time! In my very humble opinion Yacht Club is the best resort, hands down. My second favorite is Boardwalk. It has everything to offer and makes you feel so comfortable. Makes me wish we were going back this year (we are taking a cruise and going to the beach)!

I haven't stayed in a deluxe concierge room, but I can tell you a tiny bit about the food offerings we experienced at BWI concierge. Here's a part of my review about the concierge lounge:

The lounge itself is very opulently decorated with huge sofas and chairs to relax in. There is also a desk area for the concierge staff to assist you inside the lounge. There are two beverage service areas and one main food service area. During our trip we tried the midday snacks, evening appetizers, and evening desserts and cordials. I am also happy to report that soft drinks were out for the taking. Can you tell I’m a Diet Coke addict? The midday snacks were plentiful and consisted of goldfish crackers, pretzels, popcorn, M&M’s, cookies, etc. Evening appetizers consisted of cheese, vegetable, and fruit trays, as well as hot appetizers. I found the mushroom stuffed phyllo pastries to be delicious! The evening desserts were a tiny bit disappointing. What they had was quite tasty, but there was not a lot of variety compared to our earlier experience with desserts at the Grand Floridian concierge.

The concierge staff in the lounge was very friendly, and they even started conversations with us. They were also happy to help us and were always polite. Also, their pre-planning team was extremely helpful and was even able to get us an Illuminations cruise.

I am looking forward to relaxing out on that big porch on those comfy rocking chairs...every single night for 10 nights....it will be great for my DH too, who is a super workaholic and will need that peaceful, beautiful atmosphere. We sat out on that porch a couple of years ago when we went there just to visit, and that is when I fell in love with BWI. It was a rainy evening and just getting dark, it looked so beautiful. Can't wait til August!

Today I talked to the intinary planning for BWI concierge. This is going to be the first time even with concierge I am not doing on my planning and PS, I usually feel bad having them do my work but this time I feel like being pampered. I wish I remebered my room number the last time I stayed concierge there, I loved the room, overlooking the boardwalk and it was right over the spoodles sign, I am going to hav e to go through all y disney things and try and find it. Thanks so much for doing all this work for me and the rest of the DISers, it is so helpful

This sounds like the room we would like for our Memorial Day/26th anniversary weekend coming up VERY SOON!!

We spend much of our time on the Boardwalk and in the Belle Vue Lounge, where our friends work.
Is this room right down the hall from the lounge?

We've stayed at the Inn many times, but I can never remember room numbers.

I assume we can get a full size coffee maker in the room?

We recently returned from Disney. 2nts BWI, 4 nts poly lvc, 2 nts AKL concierge. Wanted to let you know a few things from our stay.

We booked standard room using ap rate. Arrived at noon and inquired about any upgrades available. Cm gave me the sheet with rack rates and said, whatever the differences is. No concierge upsell here but we did want to see about an ap rate for a boardwalk view since the room they had originally assigned was way far out and by convention center. They had to call central reservations and said it would be ok. They just needed them to fax some info over and give them about and hour and we could get into the new room. This part took about 30 minutes. Took the kids to lunch, returned, and still no fax so off to MK. Returned around 6:30, tired, wet, and hungry. Still no fax so let's talk to the manager helping the unhappy group next to us. She finally got us into the room but had to bring our real keys up later--guess my whining kids in the lobby got them moving! They did send a lovely fruit basket which I assume was for my trouble, but it only said "Welcome to the Boardwalk Inn" so I'll never know.

We had room 3235 and it was very nice. We were between Boardwalk Bakery and Spoodles. There wasn't much noise when the doors were open (we were there during the week) and very quiet when doors closed. Only thing we heard was music from club at other end of boardwalk. Our balcony was a little walled off though, not the open ones, and part of it was really concealed. We did not have a daybed either (2 queens room). The only complaint about the room was the mold on the ceiling above the shower and the very sloppy caulking that was coming off near the tub. My 5 year old was actually the one to notice this.

The lobby and other main areas were lovely, just as pictured. I took an early morning walk and decided that we would've been better off with the standard view rooms. The garden areas were so pretty and fragrant and truly quiet.

It did take some time to figure out the elevators going where though, but I think this isn't the only resort like that.

About the pool. Loved the pool area. My 5yo did the Keister Coaster several times. One neat thing, they picked someone for the first kid of the day (unfortunately, not my son) for the first ride of the day. He got his picture taken with a rainbow clown wig and red nose and Magic Moment Certificate before they announced he was going to be the Keister Coaster Kid of the day--he then was the first one down the slide. Too cute! My 2 1/2 yo was begging to do the slide. The lifeguard told me no minimum age so he could do it. He had lifejacket on and I brought him to the top. I cannot tell you how awful it was to watch his little body spinning around while he was crying the whole way down (and he's my little daredevil!) He did not ask to do any other slides at the other resorts after this. I would definitely wait until they are bigger and braver for this one. Start off easy at AKL.

They also grabbed me in the lobby about doing a daily survey about our spending habits while here. For filling out where we spent money each day we could receive a disney character shaped pen each day. Don't know what they're doing with the info but the kids liked the pens and we are supposed to receive in the mail a gift worth $25 so we'll see.

Overall, a lovely resort. Would we stay here again. I doubt it, unless it's concierge and we could sidestep front desk altogether. I think we would enjoy it more when the kids are a bit older or on a trip without them--the garden suites look especially nice! Hope this info helps.

Actually, even with concierge, you must check-in at the front desk. We were surprised in December, because we've always stayed at the GF with personalized check-in. Though this certainly doesn't detract from the level of concierge service or our wonderful experience, it would be nice to have private check-in. We asked the concierge in December and she told me they were working on it.

Yes, that was the only thing they need to change.
the front desk check in does lack that extra special concierge check-in touch.
Jackie said they will have curb side concierge check-in soon.

Just returned from staying at a garden suite and I'm hooked on this place...the concierge lounge and staff are top-notch!

I am going agree with bambiTambly about the concierge level here. I have stayed at most of the CL at Disney resorts and have found the BWI to be my all time favorite. I will be returning in Oct for my 4th trip in 2 years. You can't beat the cast here. they are the absolute best on property. The lounge is so very relaxing, the views from all of the CL rooms are wonderful, either BW or garden view, I do like the garden view rooms. You are able to view Illuminations from the balconies in the lounge. Can't wait to go back!!!!

We have a room booked at the BC for July, but I am considering changing to the BWI if an AP rate is available still. How much larger are the concierge rooms than regular rooms? Do they all have a sofa bed? Is there any specific room location to request? Also, I cannot tolerate cigarette smell at all - I have read that the concierge rooms are all smoking optional - is this true?
