I am so glad to come across this post. I was searching for a BWI thread and could not find it anywhere. We had such a hard time deciding on a resort and finally decided on BWI and are going in January. We are staying in a standard room but after reading all the posts I am wondering if we should upgrade to CL. We are doing the deluxe dining plan...Any suggestions? It's me, my hubbie and kids (2 and 8).
Thanks

Thanks! I'm looking for a map of the resort. Silly me can't find it. I'm probably not looking hard enough.
OUr reservation is for a studio garden/pool view. Just trying to figure out where that might be. We are smokers and would like to be near a smoking area and close to the main building(which has a PERFECT covered smoking area right under it that we used in 2007). In 2007 we were in a good spot on the 3rd floor I believe we faced out the front of the property but when we went down the stairs right across from our door to smoke we ended up being in a little smoking nook near the pool.

I know exactly where you are talking about;) We just put on the ressie close to DSA & end up near an elevator. It hasn't been a problem so far at any of the villas. You could also request view of village green & be very close.

Just a question from my dear ole mom. How are the pillows? Good, flat, fluffy, firm??

She's trying to decide if she can chance leaving her's at home.

Thanks

Just read through most of the 105 pages! Great info! I can't wait until September 2010, we booked a deluxe club room:cool1:

We have just booked a handicap accessible room for our first trip to BWI. I would love to read any experiences for the HA rooms there. I haven't read all the way through the thread yet, but I will tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated.

I would not do the deluxe dining plan and the club level if I was you. I usually travel with our family of four as well and I love CL at the Boardwalk and will be there again in 2 weeks, but without the dining plan. We have 3 ADRS for early dinners/ late lunches and then we will snack in the lounge later in the evenings. We have done the deluxe plan and you will not get your moneys worth out of one or the other with trying to schedule so many meals.:goodvibes

We are doing our first CL stay at BWI soon and this is the first time I am not going with the dining plan. We used at least a few of our TS for breakfast buffets typically. With the continental breakfast in CL, that will hold us over til we have our CS lunch. I have made a handful of dinner ADR's that we will pay OOP for and I think that will be just fine. I priced out what I thought we would eat against when the basic DP was going to cost and it works out very closely. I don't think we would have lost money on the plan, but it doesn't seem that it will save us any money either.

Is there a business center at the BWI? I am not going to have a laptop along and I'm wondering if there is a place there that I can use a computer for a short amount of time.

NOTE: I found out the answer myself after further research. There is a business center at BWI however I'm also reconsidering the laptop - but probably won't take it since the wifi is only available in public areas for $$.

Just found this thread. Trying to decide between the BC/YC or the BWI for next year.

I am going to go back and read through the thread when I have more time. But until then maybe someone here can answer my questions. . .

Do all the standard rooms have 2 queens and 1 daybed?
How deep is the water at the bottom of the pool slide?
Can the kids wear a life jacket on the slide?
Do all the standard rooms have a full size balcony? (I know some of the BC rooms only have the tiny balconies)
Is there bus service to DHS or just boat?
Is there a long line for the boat before park opening (DHS) and to come back after the park closes?
What is your view in a standard room?
Is it true that some of the rooms are VERY far from the bus stop? (you read all kind of things on here) What is the average walk from your room to the bus stop? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? More?

I think that's all for now!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I'm super excited to be returning to the Boardwalk. We've stayed at the Inn on two previous trips and are renting DVC and staying at the Villas in February!!!

Not sure when in Feb you're going, but hopefully you know the main pool is closed. See below -- I leave next week and will be there the last week of January so this affects me. Of course getting to use SAB is a pretty good deal and there are 2 quiet pools, so it's not too bad, but I'm not sure if the pool bar will be open or closed.

* Luna Park Pool at Boardwalk Inn/Villas is currently expected to close on January 18 and is expected to re-open on February 6, 2010. Guests may continue to use the leisure pools. Alternatively, shuttle service to Stormalong Bay at Beach/Yacht Club will be available.

I have read most of this LONG thread :) I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the resort, we are staying for the first time in March. So, if you're staying at Boardwalk Inn you can not use stormalong bay, correct? We have two standard view rooms for 6 of us (me, husband, 16, 14, 12 daughters and my Mom). Are we paying more to get two rooms, or should we look into garden suites? I wasn't given that option on the phone. What is CS and how much does it cost to upgrade? I'm feeling a bit confused. I want to be sure I made a good decision. We usually stay at POR or CBR.

The only way you can use Stormalong Bay is if the main BW pool is closed (which it is in late January).

A garden suite would work not for you. It's a king bed and a pullout couch. It's really designed for couples. You could look at a 2 bedroom at the Boardwalk Villas.

CS = counter service. A fast food place.

I just got back from a wonderful stay at the BWI. It was for a conference so I did not select the resort, but I will absolutely stay there again...

Just found this thread and haven't read through all 105 pages yet, so this may have already asked...

Saw that the first post with all the information was dated 2002 and wanted to find out what the Character Caravan is and if it's still going on!
