Thank you for the congratulations!

I have to say that this was our first trip to WDW, so I'm guessing any of the resorts would have been a big "WOW" for us...but, I don't know. We visited the monorail resorts and weren't particularly impressed. I mean, they are beautiful and all, but there was just something about BWI that really got us...maybe it's because we were married there, I don't know...but we loved the ambiance, the atmosphere, the decor, everything!!!

If you'd like to take a look at some of our pics, here's the link:

There's a (blurry) pic of our room, and a few pics of the boardwalk area (I need to get some more developed and "edited" before I can put them up).

We didn't get to rent one of the surrey bikes, but it was something I wanted to do (maybe next time)...we were just overwhelmed, I think! :goodvibes

I think my favorite part about staying there was sitting on that balcony early in the morning (when it was SOOO quiet) and later in the evening after we got back from the parks...watching the entertainers, and just regularly people watching! It was really very magical!!

MinnieSummer...I can understand your reasons for being nervous, but really, I think you are going to absolutely LOVE the BWI! It will be magical!!! It's Disney, how could it be anything less?!?! :lovestruc

Well we stayed at the Boardwalk from 9/30 to 10/3, first time there and we loved it, but I do have a warning, avoid room 5285!!

We arrived on an early flight and we where at the hotel by 10 am so we checked in and I was surprised whent they said our room was ready, so we went there and at first i was really happy because we where like ten steps from the elevator but once in the room I could hear some noise on top of us, and I just thought they where doing repairs on the roof (we where on the top floor)by the way it had no balcony, just a small window overlooking part of the boardwalk. Went to the park, came back, and we could still hear the noise but we where really tired to go and find out what was going on, but next morning that same noise woke us up like at 6 am :earseek: We finally figured it was related to the elevator so we requested to be moved, which they did and we ended up in front of the quiet pool, room 1326, we could walk right from our room to the pool, and it was really quiet around there, we where on the corner so had windows on one side and terrace on the other and the room was slightly bigger the only down side was that it was a longer walk to the lobby and the buses but I'd rather walk than have that noise all the time!

Hiwaygal - THANKS for letting me view your pics!! I LOVE that room decor. The wicker chair won me over right away! I just adore wicker. The room in your pics looks nicer than other BWI room pics I have seen at other websites. I appreciate it!! I peeked at some of your other pics, too. ;) Looks like you had a fabulous wedding trip!!

THANKS again. I am just so excited now that I have settled on the BWI. Still bummed about no krispie kremes in the lounge, though! :earboy2:

thank you to everyone who put this thread together... it's quite comprehensive and if we decide to go deluxe, i think this is the one for us!

i read this on deb's site and have a question <<"The Belle Vue Room serves a continental breakfast from 6:30 - 10 a.m.: Croissants, muffins, bagels, danish, yogurt, cookies, toast, coffee, tea, cereal, juice and fruit are on the menu.>>

is there a charge for the continental breakfast referenced above? i could not find a "menu" for it, yet it seems very un-disney to offer free breakfast on a non-concierge level... does anyone know the pricing?

thanks in advance!

I can't find if anyone has answered your question. Does anyone know if they charge for the continental breakfast mentioned in the above post? Also can you rent points for the rooms at BWI or is it just the BWV? Am planning on renting points at $9/pt which is much better than staying at any of the value resorts but would like the concierge rooms. Help Please!!! :confused3

I know the YC had something similar and everything was priced separately. More like a grab and go breakfast. I would imagine that the BWI is similar. I'm sure someone here will have the answer for you.

You might have to ask the points question over on the DVC board. I know that members can do something that allows them to use points for resort rooms and cruises, but I don't think you can if you're a renter. Congrats on getting them for $9 a point. That's an excellent savings.

There is a charge for the continental breakfast offered in the Belle Vue Room. Each item is priced separately. However, the offerings are reasonably priced.

Hi there,
a friend just returned from DW and stayed at Coronado Springs.
They had a complimentary refrigerator in their room.
Do you know if this is true at the BWI or is it still $10.

Thanks,
Denise

WDW now has refrigerators (complimentary) in most moderate and deluxe hotel rooms. :)

I just wanted to bump this thread up for any special BWI info as I will be checking in 5 nights from now!!!

Anybody out there with some great BWI reviews or info???? :sunny:

Thanks,

Are the entertainers on the Boardwalk there every night? I've read conflicting information...one site says every night, one site says Thursday through Saturday nights, one site says weekends, etc. I've done searches here on the DIS but can't seem to find the answer. :confused3

I'm wondering, when we plan our evening off from the parks to just hang around the Boardwalk area, if it makes a difference which night we choose. If someone who's been recently knows I'd be grateful for the information! TIA

His is the site that says Thursday through Saturday, but it also states that it was last updated in April 2003. I do use that site for park entertainment schedules, but I didn't know if the information on the Boardwalk from 2003 was still accurate or not. :confused3

Here's what Steve Soares' site says:

BoardWalk Buskers are on the Boardwalk from 6:30pm to 10:30pm
See the fun, the wacky, the bizarre, the just plain weird, when you catch the traveling Buskers. Guests participate to make the silliness magical and the magic just plain silly.

UPDATE 04/27/03
The Buskers have been replaced by a rotating group of performers that only appear Thursday-Saturday, at least at present. The only musician still performing is "Musicale Mark;" the others include a cowgirl doing rope tricks, a juggler, a balancing act, and a presentation from one of the former Buskers.

Unfortunately, you can't use points on rooms at the BWI, only the Villas. Points can be used at GF, CR, Poly & a few others, but if a resort has a vacation club property attached to it (Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club & Boardwalk Inn) then points may only be used at the Vacation Club portion.

I Hope This Helps!

No need to bump this thread. It is in a sticky at the top of the resorts board along with the other resort threads.

For those of you that have stayed at The Boardwalk.....is there a AAA discount available? If so, how much of a discount did you get?

TIA,

Jodi

Ok..I tried. I got up to page 15 last night. When I reserved the BW deluxe concierge room yesterday CRO gave me a choice of 3 views BW,pool or garden. But in this thread KerryCM posted that all the deluxe rooms are BW view. Can you see any of Illuminations from the rooms? I'm guessing yes because we could see them from the front of the Bakery last year. Also my DH smokes on the balcony only & I have requested a smoking room. Any idea which of the 10 rooms are smoking? I really prefer to be on the concierge floor. We stayed at BC last year w/concierge access to the 5th but barely visited the lounge as we were on the 2nd fl by the quiet pool & it required 2 elevators to get there. TIA

Joyce

Jjohnson, I really thought there were only 6 deluxe rooms and they were all above shops on the BW, therefore have BW view. Not sure which is smoking or not. I think 6 rooms because we requested lounge floor with IPO and CRO as my daughter is visually impaired and uses a white cane and stairs are a fright for her. We checked in and did not get 4th floor (lounge level), but 3rd floor. The valet that checked us in and showed us our room & called to see if we could move up and was told "no". I am almost positive he told us there are ONLY 6 of these room types that's why they were all taken.

I would STRONGLY suggest you get on the 4th floor. It was not convenient at all being on the 3rd. I don't know what happened that we wound up on 3rd, after being reassured they would get us 4th, but we did. :guilty: We were basically under the lounge and had to walk far down the hall to take some cement stairway up to the 4th. The elevator was farther down the hall the other way. If you are looking for convenience, 3rd is not going to cut it. We didn't use the lounge much at all and one reason was the difficulty getting up/down to it.

It wasn't a good stay. Sorry. We had nonsmoking, so hopefully smoking is up on the 4th. ;)
