Garden Suite info--
We stayed in GS #1205 IN April 08. The room had not yet been refurbed and was very much in need of an overhaul. The GS was terrific for the extra space and bathroom since we had our two sons staying downstairs.

My biggest complaint with the GS was that it was a 10 minute walk to everything-- the lounge, the buses, the pool, the boardwalk So plan accordingly.

Thank you! I think all the rooms are completely renovated now....we did stay on the third floor at the very end of a very long hallway so I can understand the haul tothe elevators, the boardwalk etc...peace and quiet and good food at the lounge

Hi Nicki,

You picked a great room! I wanted to stay in one of those for our HM, but couldn't justify the cost. I was so thrilled I nearly cried when they upgraded us to one.

We were in room 1204 from Jan 20 - Jan 24:

All I can say is WOW! It was so beautiful and wonderful. The second best room we have ever stayed in on WDW property, easily The split level and huge bath made it so much nicer than a regular 1 BR suite (and the fact that it had a king bed; most non-DVC WDW resorts have two queens in their 1 BR suites). We joked that we could almost live there if it had a kitchen and a bit more storage space. The whole bedroom/bathroom upstairs is exactly what I want for a master suite, with just a little more storage space.

BTW: There is a staircase right near the lounge that comes out by the GS. It's a lot of stairs so I wouldn't do it to go up, but coming down it was okay. Just some srvice stairs the CL Cms pointed us to.

Hi All! I will be staying at the Boardwalk in October and am so excited. Have always wanted to stay here and finally found a rate I couldn't refuse!

What are some of the best "standard" views one can get? Also, how common is it to get a free or discounted updrade if we are celebrating a birthday??

The best standard views are higher floors, courtyard view. Rooms that have the last 3 digits 261-311 are pretty good. Some of those are fireworks views.

Upgrading for birthdays would be very unlikely. BW doesn't do free upgrades upon request at check-in; if you are upgraded, it will be arranged before you arrive. It doesn't hurt to put Bday in requests but it probably won't do much in terms of upgrades.

Well, we finally decided on the Boardwalk!! Can't wait until June!

We are probably going to go with a standard view. Are there some sandard views with partial Boardwalk view? Perhaps the area where it breaks into the villa side and the inn side. Like if you walk out on your balcony and look straight, you would see the Wyland Gallery and if you turn right, you would see the bike rental area?

I changed our Deluxe CL room over at BC to here for Food and Wine in Sept! I am so excited to have that view!!!!

I keep hearing how some rooms are so far from the elevator. Where is the elevator at? Close to the end by the lobby?

The elevators are at the far end of the lobby past the checkin desk and the
small store at the end of the lobby-I can't remember the name

I've been in a room on the third floor that was 3 from the end of one hall -it made getting to HS quicker than going to Epcot by going out the back door at the end of the hall. That said, it took 3 minutes to get back to the lobby from our room.
No problem for us in the morning, but at the end of a long day it seems like forever :thumbsup2

I want to add, this is the BWV I'm talking about, I don't know about the Inn.

I do a girls trip every year and our favorite place to stay is the BWI. The deluxe rooms a big enough to sleep 6 They have new sleep sofas in the rooms now that they have all been renovated.

The cast there will go out of their way to make your trip special. I will be going in May for my girls trip, but before that my husband and I are taking our 6 yr. old grandaughter for a special trip. We would not stay anywhere else!!

My friend and I are staying in this room in Sept for F & W!
Thanks for all your posts! I had BC Deluxe CL booked, but posts like this, and from others like sfbank(? think that is her) I trusted my "instincts" and changed:)
Nothing against BC CL, I have done YC CL, but to have that view and the lounge looks wonderful and I have read the CM's are great!:cloud9:

For those who are BWI experts - I'm looking to get a standard room (i.e. not suite or deluxe or club) and want to get an idea of what to request. I've seen a few that had front courtyard views (you could still see the boardwalk/lake) and others who had garden views out the back towards Epcot. If you know of a room number range I should request then let me know. Or specific room numbers for that matter.

Some other questions...

1) I'm assuming I need to call the telephone # to request these specific things? Or is there somewhere on the online reservation to request these specific rooms? I would rather do online but if I need to call then I'll call.

2) How helpful are the disney folks when specific view/room requests are made?

3) I see people out here say they got upgraded unexpectedly....how likely is that and is it something I should just ask for to see if they'll do for free?

4) Is there a room layout/map with numbering somewhere online I could look at?

I cannot remember the exact room number, I think 3442 or something but we were way down the hall on the garden view side of the building, view of France and a view of the quiet pool and spa...it was perfect! We were right by the stairs so we could walk down to the pool quickly. The room was immaculate and the best was how quiet it was! When we checked in at 9am the CM said we would have a parking lot view and then she said that is not good so lets see what we can do for you? She did a great job in getting us a nice view, fireworks at night were great! I did not fax the BWI for a room location but I guess since we checked in super early and on a weekday there were more rooms to choose from.

2- you tell them what you want on the phone, and they make a note of it in the system under your reservation. i always call back later to make sure the other person I talked to did indeed make the request. Then ask again at check-in.

3-when are you staying? a free upgrade usually only happens during off season.

4- I have never seen a map like this for the Boardwalk. On the WL thread, they do have one and it made it so nice when we stayed there last year.

Last week of April into May this year probably. Not sure if this is value season or not.

I believe that's regular season. I would say it would be a slim chance for a free upgrade. It never hurts to ask, but they will probably just tell you the cost of the upgrade if you want one. You'll never know unless you ask!

Is there anywhere inside the BWI to fill your refillable mug?? thanks

In the mornings you can buy contintental breakfast items and fill your mug with coffee at the bar in the Bellvue Room. Otherwise, I think you have to go to the Boardwalk Bakery to fill your mug. You might be able to get it filled at the pool bar but I am not sure. This is one place the refillable mugs are not as convenient.

Thanks for all this information! :goodvibes :goodvibes and BUMP, too! This thread was nowhere to be found a couple of days ago :thumbsup2

Is the coffee in the Bellevue better than the coffee in the rooms or in the CL lounge? If so, I might be tempted to buy the refillable mug just for that perk! How much are the mugs?

In looking at the map of BW - I noticed the main pool is on the villa side. I know this is a silly question but how do people staying in BWI get to the pool? Do they have to walk through the lobby? Must be a path outside?

Thanks for any info. Not booked at the BW but considering it.
