Although we've stayed inthe cabins multiple times, we've never visited the big pool or the gameroom. Now that DD is a big kid (5, :confused3 ) and is interested in these things I was wondering what they're going to be like.

We stayed at All Star Music for a night a few months ago and they had alot of activities by the pool for the kids. They had bingo, a dance party, games, hula hoop contest, etc. Does the big pool have any stuff like this?

Also, what's the game room like? Is it like the game rooms at the other resorts...with the tickets you trade in for various junk?

Normally she is happy with a pool, playground and tooling around on the golf cart, but since she's experienced this other stuff...I want to know what to expect. Thanks!

Yea, they do have activities by the pool for kids, you'll receive info at check in that will let you know what's going on, when and where.

They don't have any ticket trade machines at the Fort, both arcades they have are rather small. The one at Crockett's tavern is VERY small, probably only about 9-10 games in the whole thing. The one at the Meadows Trading Post (the "big" pool), is a larger arcade, but still small compared to most Disney resort arcades (and much, much smaller than the All Star arcades).

They definitely have games for kids in both arcades, just no ticket trading stuff.

our DS has always love the arcade at the Contemporary, if you get a chance to run over there. they do the ticket thing too.

Oh yea, Contemporary has a great arcade. Of course, it usd to be MUCH better when it took up the large portion of the bottom floor. Now it's been relegated to a corner on the main concourse. This happened last year, and to be honest, I was actually pretty upset about it, because I spent so much of my youth in that arcade with my brother and friends. Was always hoping I could watch one of my little one's play in the same areas I did as a kid, but I guess I'll have to find some other nostalgic area now...lol.

The new one is still a really decent size though, and yea, they definitely have the ticket games there.

I also spent many hours as a kid in the Contemporary arcade with my sister and cousins. I knew they where changing it but I forgot to check it out on our last trip. Talking about a nostalgic area, as a kid I loved that they had a singer at Trails End and they had a viedo game there that you set on called Tiger Helly you flew a helicopter it was so cool. Oh how time flys.:)

I was actually pleasantly surprised when I saw the new one. It was bigger than I expected, after hearing the reports that it had moved. I was expecting something much smaller, so I guess that was good that it was bigger than I thought it would be.

It's also a lot darker than the old one, much much darker. I always kind of liked the old one because it was so lit up, most arcades aren't that way.

Anyone remember the old movie theatre at the old Contemporary arcade that you could go watch movies at? Man, that seems soooooooo long ago now, I remember as a kid we loved that, they must have gotten rid of it 10-15 years ago.

Thanks for all the info! I'm glad there is stuff by the pool going on, is it something new here? I never remember getting a schedule of activities at check in before at FW.

We'll definately be going over to the Contemporary for the arcade. I always stayed there as a kid and I drag my family over there every trip just so I can smell the Contemporary, wierd, huh? :goodvibes

I remember the little movie theater...loved everything about the old downstairs gameroom. I could have stayed there all day between the movie theater, air hockey and the awesome shooting gallery!

That reminds me, when my cousin took us to property control, there were about 8 air hockey tables for sale. Wonder what resorts they came out of????

I've noticed they've been going to air hockey tables in the resorts that were a little bit smaller than the old ones. Plus some of those old tables had probably been around since I was a kid...lol.

The newer ones are "safer" as well, they have plexiglass on the sides to keep the puck from flying off. Sigh, what good is an arcade if you don't have to watch out for flying air pucks...heh.
