Another thing that I just learned of (I didn't know about it when the article was written), is the Picnic at Ascot company. I had never heard of them, but that morning I had woken up thinking, "We need an insulated backpack for taking food into DL". We've taken sandwiches lots of times, the people at the gates always see them and never make an issue out of it. We used to achieve this by using ice packs in our diaper bag, because the inside has that plastic lining so the moisture doesn't soak through? But this is the first trip we're taking with no diaper bag (my 4th, and youngest child, is now totally potty trained, yay!). So, I want to take a regular backpack, but didn't know if any company made an insulated one. Anyway, by chance, I happened to stop into one of our local thrift stores for 5 minutes the same day, and wouldn't you know it, the ONLY thing my husband even looked at was this backpack. It was an insulated one!!! This one had clearly never been used (It comes with plates and cups and everything for a picnic, and the paper liners were still between the plates, the napkins were still folded funny like they are on the company's website). I couldn't believe my luck, we picked it up for $5! Went home and checked out the website, and they retail for about $40 to $100+! Anyway, they have awesome products, and these bags are perfect for taking food into DL, I can't wait to use it. Check out their website, and then if interested, see if you can find one on ebay! It will keep food and drinks cold (read: you'll be able to pack club sandwiches instead of pb&j, lol!). For those trying to manage a frugal trip to DL, it's the perfect product.
Holy cow....I just read on one of the DL menus, that they sell the "Simply Lemonade" brand of lemonade there...one of my faves. I buy the large container (enough for everyone in my family to have some) at my local grocery for about $2. At DL, the SMALL, single serving ones are $4.50! That's where these Picnic at Ascot bags can come in really handy.
