The Berkshires

I'd just like to point out that tattoos can be covered up by clothing. Hair can not. Unless you have very short hair and a very big hat.

As for maturity level, well, I don't know anyone who is over the age of 21 or so who still dyes their hair bright, funky, punky colors. And this is coming from someone who used to routinely do so.

then maybe you need to stop playing your little card games(Dungeons and Dragons)and get out more!! because I see them EVERYWHERE!

EsmeraldaX, you and my DH would get along really really well. He's a closet D&D fan and a Chess Master. I on the other hand love the Ren Faires.

Would you guys like it better if I did a deep chestnut almost black on my head?

From the way you have described your DH in the past, as a man who refuses to hold his own children who left his DW to do all kinds of work around the house while she was VERY pregnant because he wanted to play video games...no offense, but I don't think we'd get along much. ;)

Deep chestnut is a natural hair color and I don't really think that would look bad or in any way hurt your chances in the job market. If you truly feel you can afford it, then by all means. But seriously consider skipping the funky punky stuff.

First off, please get your facts straight. I didn't bathe PJ in the winter because my windows were so drafty that when I had my heat cranked to 80 it was only about 60 in the apartment.

Thank you for correcting my error, but, you didn't bathe your son. Don't you see a problem with this?

DWhittles said:
I've never ever ever not paid a bill. Not ever. Not once.

Good for you, but other people are supporting you. You can't afford basic necessities (please don't say your father WANTS to buy these things, i.e. diapers, food -- he sees what the rest of us see)

DWhittles said:
I don't think I'll ever get you guys to understand me so I've stopped trying.
Alot of people don't understand me so I know how that feels.

I also know that our budget can withstand a visit to the salon every month or 6 weeks.

You got a job? Good for you. What kind of work will you be doing?

DWhittles said:
As far as subjecting myself to riducule? I can't post here what I think about that so I'll just attempt to be PC and say I don't much care...

I don't want people to ridicule you Diana. You sound like a genuinely nice person and you try so hard to fit in. I see so many great qualities and people won't notice them if you have purple edged hair. I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just trying to state the facts.

And you are correct, you didn't ask for my opinion. I regret, I have never been to the Berkshires and therefore do not know any hairdressers in the area.

My little card games? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Right.

Well, I don't see them anywhere. I certainly don't see them in my office, or in the last office I worked in. I don't see them on the subway during the rush hour commutes. I see them at the mall, hanging out in hot topic buying punk clothes to wear to school...

I don't either. My hair was a myriad of colors...in college. :confused3 However, I grew up and needed a job and the haircolor wasn't appropriate anymore.

You have 2 kids, spend the money on them. :wave2:

Do LadyX and Gepetto not get along on a normal basis?
There are a few people that post around here who's voices I respect and who's words I take very much to heart. EsmereldaX is one of them.
I'm not doing this to my hair tomorrow. I have time to mull it over in my head...Very vaild points from all of you and I'll have to decide what I'm gonna do.
Last thought that I find sort of odd is that my DH who thinks that tattoos are stupid and that my wanting to go to a concert or a club to see a band play live is my regressing and I need to grow up has no issue with my wanting funky hair colors. Go figure that one out!

You know vickyBaby, she didn't ask for mine either. Bad me.

Oh the temptation is there, but alas I think I'm going to exit this thread now and go try to figure out if I even own any card games... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Diana, I have been nothing but supportive of you in the past. I'm trying to be supportive if you here by being honest. I prefer my friends to be honest with me and tell me when they think I'm making a mistake. At any rate, maybe you don't or maybe that's not what you wanted. But alas, like vickyBaby said, you didn't ask for my opinion and I also do not know of a hairdresser in the area you are seeking. Might I suggest you try the yellow pages for the area or ask on MySpace, MySpace has a pretty good forum like this one.

Good luck!

I haven't posted anything about DH in a while beacuse I felt so beaten down on here when I did but he's done a real 355. (Not 100% yet but close) He's giving the kids baths and he feeds PJ dinner and plays with him all night when he gets home. He's started behaving like a real dad should and when I see it I want to cry every single time beacuse I can tell he's finally really enjoying his time with his two boys and he sees how amazing and beautiful and wonderful they are. Things on that front are getting much much better.

Maybe you can buy the temporary spray in hair color? Have you tried coloring your hair yourself? I use Garnier Nutrisse and have had good results.

:confused3 I've bough the occasional t-shirt there and sometimes, they have cute fairy items in there but I don't wear them when I'm at work and I don't even really wear them anywhere except around the house...

Geez. It's another let's beat up DWhittles thread because my life is so much better than hers.
:sad2:
Do what you want with your hair. I wouldn't worry about what people on the DIS think. You live in NYC. I see a lot of different hair styles here.

Just wanted to say I'm very happy for you! Are you still in Hoboken?

Okay, let me try this one last time. I came onto the boards in order to find a safe healthy way to bathe him in that cold apartment. I DID BATHE HIM. I'm really not sure though, how even if I hadn't bathed him it would make me a bad mom. There is a thread going on now where LOTS and LOTS of mommies are confessing that they bathe their kids once a week. Both my babies get baths at least 4 times a week, PJ gets more than that usually.

No one is supporting me now and hasn't been in quite some time aside from DH. Yes, my dad got us diapers and formula. (Why do I feel like a broken record?) I'm still not so sure that's a crime.

Sarcasam not needed. Our financial situation has improved and it now allows me to do something for myself once in a while.

I appreciate this and it makes me feel good. I know you are just trying to help me out but there have been many changes around my personal zone that I haven't posted about beacuse I was tired of trying to explain myself to people who in the end were very angry with me. I'm in a much better place now than I was even 2 months ago because I've learned (and it's partly due to you all here on the DIS) that I have to give myself a voice and I have to stand up for me. No one else will if I don't. Once I did that it was amazing how the changes started to come to me.

That's good Diana. It's a good start. I hope he stays that way.

Good luck w/ everything.
