For years I've used this board to help plan my trips. Last year, I took lots of "food" pictures with all intentions of writing a review and never did. This year, of course, I didn't take any pictures. I'm back 2 weeks now, and missing The World. So I thought I'd relive my trip by writing some dining reviews. Unfortunately, with no pictures. So here goes....

We were in the World from August 19 thru August 25

The cast:

Me: The obsessive planner. Originally I told the kids their vacation is the parks; mine is the restaurants. We were going to dine where I wanted to. And my original ADRs were all places I wanted to try. Then I had a change of heart and made changes to try and please everyone.

DH: Hakuna Matata attitude. Pretty much a meat & potatoes guy. Not too fussy about food, but has to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. If he misses a meal, he gets cranky.

DD: 11 going on 25. "No way I'm ordering from the kids menu." Likes to try new food, but in reality is a chicken nugget and mac & cheese kid.

DS: A 7 year old who likes cheese burgers. (And ate one every day!) We'll see which place he declares as the best burger.

Table Service Meals:
Cape May Cafe
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Wolf Gang Puck's Cafe
Captain's Grille
Tutto Italia
Kona Cafe
Biergarten

Sassagoula Floatworks & Cape May Cafe

Our first day we had an early flight. We arrived at the Port Orleans French Quarter around 11. Our room was ready, so we freshened up and went to Sassagoula Floatworks for lunch. We were all pretty hungry. DS & DD both ordered the Chicken Quesadilla. DS got the kids chicken nugget meal and I ordered the Chicken Taco Salad. They lost my ds's order so after waiting for a while, we had to wait even longer. My ds was really hungry and pretty annoyed that his food wasn't ready. He declared this place as the worst ever even though he hadn't even tried his meal yet. My dh said the quesadilla wasn't bad; my dd picked all the chicken out out of the quesadilla and ate only half. I thought my taco salad was...well yuck. We left there and I figured that would be the last time we ate there. Already missing the Pepper Market.

We headed for HS and spent a very hot afternoon there. We should have stuck with my plan and spent the afternoon by the pool, but... Anyway, we left with just enough time to make our ADR at the Cape May Cafe. There was a boat by the dock boarding. But of course, as soon as we approached, the rope was put up and we were told another boat would be back in 20 minutes. So we sat and waited. The loading area got crowded pretty quick. Another boat came by pretty fast. We loaded and were on our way. The resort boats from HS to the boardwalk hotels is enclosed. It was hot in the boat. My dh got up and stood in the small outside area. He said there were a few people getting sick overboard. Yuck. Glad I missed that. The BC is the 4th stop from HS so it was a long, hot ride. We finally made it to the BC dock.

We were about 20 minutes late for our adr. We checked in and were handed a beeper. I thought the wait would be long considering we were late. Surprisingly, after only a few minutes we were called to be seated. This was our first time here. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't too crowded. It was a lot quieter than I anticipated; especially for a buffet. Our waitress came by right away to take our drink orders and explained the buffet. The restaurant was nice and cool and the pomegrante lemonade very refreshing. We headed to the buffet for the crab legs. They did not disappoint. My dd ate platefuls along with New England Clam chowder that she loved. My dh went for the landlover's side and had roast pork and sliced steak with a mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes. Ds tried the sliced steak minus the sauce and mac & cheese. He ate all of it which is a good sign. I thought the lobster tortellini was delish as well as the fried calamari. They were light and crisp and the sauce for them had a nice kick. I also tried the house salad with gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and cranberries. It was very good. We all liked the desserts. My ds liked the idea that he was able to go up a couple of times. The oreo domes were all that I expected and more! We all loved them. Our waitress, Leslie, brought out a special dessert for dh's birthday and had the whole restaurant sing to him. He was a little embarrassed to say the least. She also gave him a card signed by all the breakfast characters which I thought was cute.

This is a restaurant we all enjoyed. Although we're not big on buffets, we really liked this one. We've done other buffets in the past and found we had to stand in line a while to get our food. This one was easy to get to the food. The plates on our table were promptly removed and the birthday dessert was a nice bonus!

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

I hear you about wanting to book restaurants for you and then changing to what everyone else will like. Everytime I see Jiko or California Grill on I review I try to see where I can squeeze it in. Drop T-rex or miss Remy at Chefs? I figure that DD is only young once and we can try the other places I want when she is older.

Cape May sounds great!

sounds delicious......we have not tried this buffet as we are from Maine and thought no one could compete with our seafood.........So I think we will try it on our next visit to the House of the Mouse.

Thanks for the review
