The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves! (my journal)

Hi, Don! I am a little late in welcoming you to WISH but an infant makes it difficult to get to journals as much as I used to...so anyway WELCOME! I have enjoyed reading what you post! You have a great sense of humor! You are doing great so far and I look forward to reading more of your journal!
Hi Tasha! (I assume its not Scott!? :teeth: ) Thanks for stopping by, glad you like it, sorry if I go on and on sometimes. What a cute baby!! Our baby's 1st birthday is 2 weeks, she's almost not a baby anymore. Last one, too

So, last night was ok, DW's night off so we went to the movies again!! We were going to be frugal and go see the Hitchhiker's Guide at the dollar theater, but on the way the boys got so crazy laughing that Andrew choked on his water and threw up! We were about a mile from home, so we just went home to clean it up. Sorry for the gross out moment. So, then we were too late for that movie so we went to War of the Worlds. Wow, I don't think I've seen 2 new releases back to back since I was single! I enjoyed it, except for the parts where I had to go out with the baby. It was a bad idea to bring her but it was a last minute decision. She was ok for about the 1st hour, eating her cheerios and drinking her bottle, but then she had had enough and just started telling me about it. She loves the sound of her own voice! Bought a bunch of Arby's sandwiches with coupons on the way, but still we've spent way too much this weekend, not good for the budget. Plus these movies are cutting into my exercise time, didn't do anything. Try again tonight.
D: Arby's Giant and a bacon cheddar melt, water.
B: bfast casserole, water
S: Quaker banana bread bfast square (call them bfast bricks, from the evil breakroom)
Stopped for gas on the way to work, had my water bottle with me, so wasn't even tempted to buy a soda, that used to be my biggest weakness, a fountain refill at the gas stations around here are only about 50-70 cents for a 44 oz.
Made a roast beef and swiss sandwich on ww for lunch, and I still have a small piece of chicken in the breakroom fridge, maybe I'll add it to a Wendy's side salad.
Scale still holding, I did get pretty good sleep last night, got home from the movie and went to bed with the baby, left DW to deal with the boys.
Have a great day everybody!
 pirate:

Keep up the work - and those Quaker Oatmeal Breakfast Bars aren't THAT bad (I really like the brown sugar and cinnamon) because they have great fiber!!!!! :earseek: :earseek: But I have gotten hooked on the Quaker Fruit and Oatmeal bars - they are good!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Hi Don!!! Good for you for not getting that soda at the gas station.

You are doing a great job, don't get discouraged that the scale is not moving. It will!!! I can feel it!

Have a great day

Hey Don- I haven't been by in a while due to my writing schedule, but it sounds like you're doing great and taking it one day at a time (wasn't that a 70's sitcom with some guy named schnider?) Anyway, keep moving, keep away from the soda, and keep keeping on...:)

Have a great day!

Good morning Don! :sunny:

It sounds like you are having a great week with the guys! That's really nice of you and your DW to take them to the movies and out to eat. ::yes:: Arby's is one of my favorite fast food restaurants! For some reason, I feel "healthier" when I eat at Arbys vs. when I eat at McDonalds or even Wendys.

You are doing a great job and the scale will start cooperating with you! ::yes:: Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Hi Don,

How are you doing today?

Just wanted to stop in and WISH you a great, healthy day.

Have a good one!!!

Hey Don!

How are you doing today? Just stopping by your journal to wish you WEIGHT LOSS today!!! :) I know you're already "swimming" today, but incase I don't see you in the ocean...have a GREAT ONE and I'll catch ya on the flip side!

Hugs,
jen :fish: ;)

Hi Christin, thanks for stopping by, hope all is well with you too.
Hi Tracy, Jamie and Jen! What a great bunch of cheerleaders I have! Sure is fun to come here and find new messages of hope and encouragement in my journal.

Well, some good and some bad yesterday, as usual. After my good low-carb breakfast, eating was hit or miss.
L: Roast beef and swiss on WW, with mustard, miracle whip and horseradish, Salad with chicken (I should have saved the chicken for today, darn)
D: garlic cheeseburgers and polish dogs, on the BBQ. I made 6 burgers out of a pound with fresh garlic and american cheese, forgot the bacon, I have a side burner on my grill and usually fry up some bacon for the burgers. I ate 2 of the burgers (with buns, darn) and 2/3 of a polish (with bun, darn), a piece of corn-on-the-cob, (overcooked, dangit!), and some bag salad. I did drink the kool-ade (double darnit), I really need to recommit. Then to top it off I had a small bowl of ice cream before bed (good grief).

After dinner at about 8 I practiced trumpet with my nephew, he brought his nice horn plus a student horn for Andrew to start on this year. We played together for about a half hour, then my lips were giving out. I had to run to the library to turn stuff in before it closed at 9, then came back and started digging the weight bench out. Its in the last unfinished bedroom in the basement, and the room is also full of contruction materials for finishing the bedroom and the bathroom.

Andrew was at an informal football practice from 4 until 9, coach bought them pizza, we're all pretty excited for this year. Found out they're calling our team the 1st B team, last year we were 2nd pick, so considered the 2nd B team. The A team gets to pick their whole team, and then the B teams do a draft of everybody else. There were 3 B teams last year, and Andrew was the 2nd lineman picked, which was awesome because the 1st B team wasn't that good, and our team was great. We went 7-2 in the regular season, 3rd place, won our 1st playoff game, then lost to our arch-rivals in the championship. We really like the coaches, we even had a female lineman! I've seen girls play other positions, but this was the 1st I've ever seen a girl on the line, and she was one of the best on the team. It was awesome, she's a great kid. Saw her at the theater on Monday, she's excited about the season too.

Anyway, the older nephew and I were lifting a little when Andrew got home, and he joined in. We only lifted for about a half hour, it was good for the 1st time in a while, we'll do more next time. After that had to run errands late with DW, so it got too late for walking. In fact it got really late, the boys have been staying up until all hours of the night and then sleeping til noon all week, and the baby has adapted to their schedule. I'm gonna make THEM put her to bed tonight. Didn't get to sleep until about 1:30, then had to get up at 6:30. Grrr.
Needless to say the scale didn't like me, today will be better, gonna make sure.
No breakfast yet, I was late for work, I'll try and keep it sane. Got a coupon for a KFC chicken salad for 2.99, that should make a good lunch.
Here's to a better day (toasting with ice water)
:drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :crazy2:

Good job on getting those weights out!!!! You've finally hit a goal - you wanted to get them out and start using them and you did. CONGRATS!!!!

Thanks, Chris. I felt kind of dumb only doing 1 set of bench press and 1 set of curls, but then I thought that maybe it was good because I usually over do it the 1st time back and get really sore the next day. I feel just a tiny bit of tightness today, so its all good!
:moped:

Don't feel guilty about that - you got them out and did it and that's what matters!!!! Increase a little each day until you don't feel so sore - I know, it's easier said than done. I like to go full force when I start something and then pay for it later!!!! UGH

Hi Don! Great job getting the weight bench out. It's OK that you only worked out a little bit, remember you are just getting back into it. Sounds like you have a few workout buddies, that always helps!

As for the overindulging, we all do it occasionally. Just bump up the exercising if you can, and that way you won't feel as guilty. And even the fact that you feel guilty is an indication that you are on the right track and in the process of changing to a healthier way of living!

Keep it up! :cheer2:

Hey Don!

Great job on hitting the weights! Wish I was close enough to join ya! I think you did right by yourself not overdoing it at first as that could lead to wanting to quit when you "can't do it". (Hope that makes sense!)

I will say I was laughing at your paranthetical comments during your description of your BBQ meal. It is great that you can laugh at yourself but I also understand the frustration you are feeling. Feeling off track and wanting to recommit is understandable and I know that you can do it!

And don't worry, the scale will be your best bud again soon!
Have a great night!
Mike :cool1:

Hey Don!

Way to go getting that weight bench out and hittin' the weights! :jumping1: That is awesome!! Keep up the good work and the scale is going to cooperate! ::yes::

Have a healthy and happy day! :sunny:

Hi everyone, just a quick check in between company mtg and company picnic. Ate better yesterday, had the kfc chicken salad for lunch, pretty good, and made a lemon herb chicken and rice bake for dinner (out of a box). Had that plus salad, no kool-ade! Didn't walk, was just feeling very tired. Got to bed around 11:30, up at 6:30, felt well rested, had some bfast casserole, 1 serving left. Had a couple of small granola bars so far here, pizza at the picnic (its not really a picnic, its indoors at a pizza/bowling place). Not too hard to control, since I hate pigging out in front of co-workers.
Scale was good, 382, almost back down to where I was about 10 days ago when i bottomed out. Itching for a new clippie!
Have a good day everyone!
:grouphug: when i give a hug it feels like a grouphug :teeth: :rotfl:
    :3dglasses

Hi Don,

Good for you for weight lifting :cheer2:

Hope you are having a great day. Keep up the good work!

Hey Don!

That new clippie is just around the corner! Can't you see it peek out at ya???
hehehe!

Hope you have a good night!

Hi all, wow, busy couple of days at work and at home. Some good, some bad, the usual, gotta break out of that rut.

Lunch was company party at the bowling alley. Ate salad (good), 3 pieces of pizza (w/crust, bad) and a slice of cheesecake (bad). There were pitchers of drinks all set out, all different kinds of pop including Dr. P, Coke. I started with water, had a couple glasses, then had one of lemonade. Near the end of the party I was really thirsty, trying to keep an eye on the baby, all the water was gone, couldn't go to the drinking fountain, pitcher of Dr. P with ice right there in front of me. Probably the biggest temptation I've had so far, but I RESISTED!!! I just couldn't break my string, its been 4 weeks now, will be a full month on monday. I know it doesn't quite make up for the bad eating, but I'm trying to stay positive there. I did bowl 3 games, pretty good exercise when i was actually bowling. Hadn't bowled in more than 10 years, my scores were 93, 101 and 117. DW kicked my butt tho, her last one was 143! Her name is Elaine btw, and she had a bowling class in college. The boss got the award for most gutter balls, 16!

We were pretty full from that so didn't eat dinner at the proper time. It was the night Elaine was taking the cousins back to Denver, flying out of SLC at 11:15. Weak moment on the way to the airport, everyone wanted food, so went to arby's at 10pm. I should have just said no, i really wasn't hungry, but I went with the flow and had a giant and an arby's melt. Dumb. Got them off safely, came home with Andrew, Matthew and baby Amber. I said "let's go walking!" then started feeling lazy and almost didn't go, but Andrew went and put on his shoes, so that got me up and out. Warm muggy night, the hurricane moisture is starting to come by.

Today I ate the last of the bfast casserole, then mid-morning i had a bowl of peanut butter captain crunch. Its my favorite cereal, been avoiding it, but i gave in. Wasn't that good, so I don't think I'll be doing that again. Had a big roast beef and cheese sandwich on ww for lunch. Just me and the boys and amber tonight, got some burger thawed out, might make tacos, taco salad. We'll definitely be eating earlier, and see if we can manage some exercise.

I might be flying to NYC on monday to meet Elaine and the girls. Elaine really wants to see the Statue of Liberty, we missed it on our last trip, both of our 1st ever to NYC. Trying to figure out if I can make it all the way from JFK to the pier by bus, save money, skip the subway, too crowded and smelly, and can't see out.

Have a good weekend everyone!
:hyper: :hyper2: :crazy2: :faint:

Hey Don!

Glad to see you posting (here and thanks for posting in my journal too!). You had me scared at first with bowling alley story!! You are a good suspense writer, keeping it hidden til the end that you resisted the Dr.P!!!
Sorry that you don't feel good about your eating the past few days. Have you thought of any ways to help yourself if you get back into any of those situations again? As we all know life stress never goes away! I know you can figure it out and if we can help let us know!
NYC sounds like fun! Lots of great walking there too! Hope you get to go.

Have a great weekend!
Mike :cool1:

Hey Don!

Way to go resisting that Dr. Pepper, Don!!!!!! :jumping1: I'm sure it was tough, but you did it!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!! :hyper:

I hope you have a healthy and happy weekend! :sunny:
