I never wrote a trip report - but I believe I told a few of you, about the balls of my feet.

Yes, that area right under my toes... blistered. BLISTERED!! I wanted to chop my feet off and hobble around on nubbies they hurt so bad, each and every step. OWWWWuuuuuCH!

Layers and layers of mole skin helped me to walk, as well as Vicodin. I remember thinking "Thank god I brought some Vicodin...who would'a thought I'd use it for THIS!!!"

So, this past January - it happened again! Not nearly as bad - but it still happened in only a few short days.

So, forget the Crocs... theyre not giving me enough shock absorption!!! WHo can help me find:

- Shoes that absorb shock in the ball of the foot area
- Inserts that absorb shock in the ball of the foot area
- a good hack saw that I could put in my carry-on bag in case of emergency.

ETA - normal, everyday walking - Im fine. Its that everyday, all day, Disney walking that kills me.

I had the same problem, after a day or two I could barely walk.

Last trip I tried Body Glide, it was a miracle. No sore feet whatsoever. Apparently my blisters and soreness was caused by the chafing, it didn't matter what shoes I wore. Just a tip, it works better with socks/sneakers. It does work with sandals, but I think every piece of dirt I walked by stuck to my feet and by the end of the day they were black (but not sore).

Same problem, used Body Glide, also. Also wore wool socks. Saved the day!!!

I can only wear running shoes to Disney World. And believe it or not my favorites are from Target. The are Champions (orange/grey box), style is Helena, color is white/navy.

My problem is finding socks that are thick enough so I don't feel the ridges in the socks. I like cushioned sport socks from the Gap or Old Navy.

Hope this helps!

Girl, I feel your pain.

A few years ago (pre DS) DH and I went on a weekend trip to San Antonio. We decided to go to SeaWorld and after a long day of slogging around in wet shoes/socks I had blisters on the balls of my feet, the pads of my toes and even in between my toes and oh god did it hurt to walk. I was able to rest my feet and go barefoot on the drive home, but I was in agony for the next week or so because I had to stand on my feet all day at work. :faint:

After the third full day at WDW (finishing at Epcot). Wifey and I were in our room and I proposed that she and I do a 69.

I got a :furious: look until I told her that I'd rub her feet while she rubs mine. Then I got a :hyper: look.

I used to have the same problem! You need to get some of what I got, I'm telling you, it'll save your feet! It's called Body Blide and it goes on like a stick deoderant!

I'm telling you, it's the best thing going for blister prevention! Runners use it to prevent chafing as well as blisters, it worked like a miracle for me! There isn't any amount of mole skin or other band-aid like covering that works like Body Glide!

Oops, I see it's already been mentioned. That's because it's great stuff!

I also vote for Body Glide.
I don't use it for normal park walking but I used it in various places (and my feet were two of them) during the WDW 1/2 marathon. The stuff works great!!!

I also had that problem....moleskin did not help, the blisters were too big. I ended up buying a bunch of the Band-Aid blister bandages and regular Band-Aids. I put the blister ones on first, then put like, two or three regular ones on top. Perfect cushioning for my feet for the whole day. The blisters did not even hurt anymore. I think I went through two boxes each. At least it worked....it is the only thing so far that has.

New Balance Motion-Control insoles, inserted into a nice, new pair of New Balance sneaks. Takes the pressure off of the ball of the foot, and really, really cushiony!
I had horrible bruising on the ball of my foot with Crocs. They just are not the cure-all so many people think they are.

I also had wonderful luck with Keen Monterey sandals. No sole bruising, no blisters.

Maybe I should have explained myself better...

I dont think theyre blisters from rubbing - where BodyBlide would work... theyre like blisters from the ball of my foot slamming on down into the concrete...theyre like UNDER my skin... like UNDER that bally part of my foot and dont come up, until Im home...

Theyre that deep and down in there.

Thats why I need serious "Ball-O-Foot Shock Absorbtion"

I used to have a pair of "Herman Munster" flip flops. Ugly as sin, but Im telling you 3 inches of squishy shock absorbtion. I wore those one trip, with no problems. Maybe I just need those again???

There are some models of running shoes specifically for people who tend to have all the impact at the balls of their feet, perhaps those would help?

Do you know which ones are?

Sounds like Sesamoiditis.

Try this foot pain identifier to see if you can figure it out!

You are welcome. I have Morton's neuroma. That also affects the ball of your foot. Pain like that is awful and I do everything I can to not have it act up. I hope you find something that works for you. Merrells, all different types work great for me. I have yet to find a sneaker that doesn't aggravate it after a long day in the parks but I am still looking.

I know that pain. I got caught down in the Quarter (New Orleans) in a pair of high heels. I couldn't get a taxi and had to walk a little over a mile back to my car.

I finally stopped at Walgreens and bought a pair of flipflops. I still thought I was going to die as the damage had been done. I also took a wrong turn and walked all of the way around Harrah's very late at night by myself - which is not something you want to do in N.O. these days.

I alternated between thinking I was going to be dead at the hands of the local thuggery and wishing I was dead from the pain.
