The Balls of My Feet and The Pain They Endure...

I know that pain. I got caught down in the Quarter (New Orleans) in a pair of high heels. I couldn't get a taxi and had to walk a little over a mile back to my car.

I alternated between thinking I was going to be dead at the hands of the local thuggery and wishing I was dead from the pain.

THATS the pain! YES! The same pain from stomping around in high heels....thats the pain. :guilty:

You know - as another poster mentioned, perhaps its just the freaking Crocs. Theyre not all theyre CROC'd up to be?

Maybe if I find myself a nice, good thick sole'd pair of shoes, and get those little disc inserts, I'd be good? And save the CROCS for the pool.

How cute are these: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/22736903/c/8585.html

I know, I know.... find GOOD shoes, not cute shoes.

::yes::

I love, love, love my crocs. But no way would I wear them all day in the parks.

I normally cannot stand Tevas. The ones with straps rub in all of the wrong places, and sometimes the soles have too much texture for my tender feet.

But I love the Teva Mush flip flops - very squishy. Delta lost my luggage last September, and I bought them because they were cheap, and I was having to replace everything.

If you are going with lace up shoes, I highly recommend SmartWool socks. They are outrageously expensive, but sometimes I can get them at Sierra Trading online. They are the best socks. My sister has the most tender feet in the world, and she is now sold on these. She has no money at all but will splurge on these socks for the comfort.

I think it's the tiny bit of friction repeated over and over that ends up causing such horrible pain. I do better in shoes that have a suede lining and a toe bar like Birkenstocks because my feet don't slip as much.

The shoes I wore in the Quarter were SO cute - high heeled mules with sequins and a pointy pointy toe. When I bought the flip flops the cop on the corner teased me a lot about having to ditch my heels for the flip flops.

If you would drink some of the Kool-aid you could cure your foot problems.

Do you know which ones are?

I run on my toes/balls of my feet and I have always had good luck with the Asics GT 2000 series. If you Google "running shoes forefoot cushioning" you'll get a lot of information on different shoes.

You might also want to consider seeing a good foot doctor for a gait assessment.

People are not supposed to walk on the balls of their feet...at least, the balls of the feet are not supposed to hit the ground first. Your heel is supposed to hit first and your foot is supposed to sort of "roll" toward the ball.

Shoes are important, especially at WDW, but if your gait is off, it's off and there might be something that can be done to fix that, whether it's exercise, therapy or just "forcing" yourself into a "heel-to-toe" gait until it becomes habit.

I dont walk on the balls though....but for some reason thats where it gets the most *BANG*. I think I push off too hard....

My Mom saw a Podiatrist (sp? yesterday), not for ball pain but for heel pain. I can't remember the name of what she has. Anyway, she was all prepared for a cortizone shot but he didn't do it -just yet anyway. He taped her foot up really well and next week is forming insoles for her.

He said that Crocs were not a good choice. My mom is a big flip-flop wearer in the summer - he said they are awful for feet as is going barefoot (which she also does). He did x-rays to see the damage in her foot.

Anyway, I would go to a Podiatrist and see what is suggested. Have them do x-rays, there may be a reason for this happening. THey may also be able to recommend good shoes for you.

Good luck!!!

Its very possible it would. Great thinking. I could probably get pregnant, cure any unknown dyslexia I have as well as score a Beau half my age.... Hmmmm.... Definately food for thought!!!

Thank you! Thank you to everyone who gave me some suggestions! :woohoo:

I was going to suggest getting your engrams read and then you could drink the kool aid and all your pain would be gone!;)

:headache: :headache: :headache: Stupid, stupid, stupid!!! What was I thinking suggesting a Dr. Naturally, if you drink some kool-aid, get a good multi-vitamin (call TC, he'll hook you up), and get your engrams read, that should cure it pretty quickly.

:)

Hmmmm...I had the best trip ever in November with my Crocs. the only day my feet hurt was the day I switched over to my running shoes. Never again. The Crocs were a God-send for me. Also, Monistat makes an antichafe gel that works wonderfully (like the body-golide) on inner thighs and on the bottom of my feet.

Blisters generally form on the skin and are caused by friction. It almost sounds like you have really bad callouses. I developed a super bad and painful callous on my toe after two days of horse showing (on my feet for 18 hours).

A trip to the podiatrist may be a great thing. He can test to see if you need an orthotic insert for your shoes. DH did and he's doing great now. Wore his orthotics to WDW last year and was doing way better than the other two times we went.
