The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

heads up to the adults.... i might be knocking on your door and hand delivering the adult gifts;)

I don 't understand that either. Our dogs were adopted when they were about 4 months old. They had been found as newborns abandoned in a plastic bag on the side of the road. We got 2 of the 4 and they are the sweetest dogs we have ever had.

Eli has some issues - they do not make him aggressive - just the opposite. He is so timid and submissive. He has some health issues too - allergies. The dog is allergic to - FOOD! He can't digest and absorb protein right so we have to buy special prescription food for him. Costs a fortune but he is so worth it. Even with the special food the best we can do is control the allergies, we can't seen to get rid of them even after seeing a doggie dermatologist.

How people can be cruel to animals is beyond me - it is like being cruel to a child.

We had a bull terrier with allergies. We spent several thousand dollars at CSU vet clinic trying to clear him up. His food cost us $75 for a 15 lb bag. Being a 60 lb dog, it didn't last long. Long story short he never got better. Hope you have better luck than we did.

Heads-up to those of you with kiddos 5 and under. I will probably be (if I remember to pack them) zip-tying your child's FE gift to your fish or door or FE - depending on where I can attach it. I don't want it walking off and it is too large to fit in a pocket.

So ya might need to pack a small pair of scissors or have your room steward remove it for you.

If you would rather me not do that let me know and I will just hang it from - something.

That is a great idea, I may do the same with the family gift.

Eli's food is about 70.00 for 20.00 and he weighs about 115 pounds.. it doesn't last long either. He has environmental allergies as well. He is VERY prone to ear infections and skin infections. The vet doesn't even ask to see him each time we call now. We have been dealing with them so long and she knows we can tell what is going on with him now so she just lets us pick up the meds we know he needs. The only way to keep the skin issue in control is regular baths with a specially medicated shampoo.

We have been fighting this all his life - he is 8 now. We really have no hope of it totally clearing up - we are happy when we can keep it under control and he isn't miserable.

I posted about this on the FB page but here it is again:

Speaking of zip ties....I highly recommend using a zip tie to attach your FE to your fish! We didn't do that on our first DCL cruise and our FE got stolen! Yes, even on a Disney ship, grrrr! We were very upset but we reported it to guest services and it was eventually returned to us. Apparently there was a 'suspicious' guest onboard that they were keeping an eye on and confronted the guest. Strange--and highly unusual that it was actually returned to us. We also lost a bunch of magnets and some FE gifts as well that trip which we never did get back.

I feel your pain. Exact same problems you have with the ears. We had to put our dog down in December he was only 6. His demise was that he ate plastic as well. Had surgery on him once to remove the plastic from his stomach for a cost of $3,000. The second time we decided he was never going to change. He even ate the plastic off of the handle of the snow shovel and with the grandkids we had plastic toys everywhere and keeping them from him was next to impossible. The medications also took a toll on him and he was losing weight. We decided no more dogs for us after that.

I'm finally done with the Fish Extender gift purchases. I had such a hard time with the young adults (16 and up). Especially the young men.

Now all I have to do is gather and ship!

19 days until we get to Vero.

So I just found you guys! We just booked last week. My husband and I are going to be getting away minus our darling daughter. She is 20 months- but mommy just needs a vacation before daddy deploys! So can anyone catch me up to speed? I'm getting excited!!princess:

What branch of the military is your DH in? Please tell him "THANK YOU" for his service.

Welcome. At 20 months, everyone deserves a bit of *me* time. So, are you also hitting WDW before or after the cruise? Do you have any excursions planned? Is this your first cruise?

This is a fun bunch of people. I'm sure someone will come along with details on our meet, etc. Make sure to go to the shared site for more details on DIS participants, and cool stuff.

On the cruise, there will be drinks!

Hey everyone! I was away this weekend at Antietam and Washington DC so I was unable to check in! The trip is coming closer and closer! This is going to be a crazy 3 weeks for me that's for sure. I'm pretty sure i got screwed into working every single day between finals and the trip which is just a really bad idea because I don't have time to do anything that needs to get done! (Like packing!) I may leave a note for my boss tonight telling her I cannot work the thursday before we leave because I will really need all day to get everything last minute done.

I feel for all of you whose dogs have allergies and health issues! I work in a Pet store, I'm a dog trainer, I work with rescue dogs, and I've been a groomer and a vet tech so I know how hard that can be. My own dogs have their fair share of issues but we love them anyways.

I hope everyone has a good few weeks leading up to this cruise! I have to head to class now but I'm sure we are all going to be very busy in the coming weeks!

Hey guys!
This will be our second Disney cruise! I sailed on the Wonder last trip. We were alone (as a couple) last trip, so I know we will have a blast! In fact, our DD was our souvenir! My family thinks we're coming home with another... Lol!

We are looking forward to drinks- my husband thinks the drink menu is a to do list! (Not all at one time! He just likes to make sure he has each of those fun girly ones before he leaves the ship!). So when we all meet, no telling him I told everyone he likes girly drinks!! ;p

We have the Atlantis tour scheduled (no dolphin or aquadventure). We were on Atlantis' website, and we think we'll have enough to do and see! In Key West we are going to do the Conch Train tour... Followed by a self-guided bar hopping tour. I've been to Key West, but husband has not. At CastawHay Cay we are parting ways in the morning- he is going on a fishing boat- I'm receiving spa treatments! Then we have the bike, snorkel, float combo to do together.

My DH is a civilian contracted employee for the federal gov- he works with the navy. He might as well be in the navy! Hopefully we will both be on this cruise! His schedule is constantly changing! Otherwise, it will be me and a girlfriend!

Hey Blair! I like your name DVC Blair! ;)

Welcome to the group. Your DH is not alone.. mine likes his fair share of "girly" drinks as well.. but he also like a good stout beer :crazy2:

Ian (my DH) has spent some time contracting - well his company did, for the Navy. He worked on navigation systems for the trident II subs back in the day. Even spent some time on a sub. This was a long time ago - our oldest was just a toddler then and she is 23 now. So I can feel your pain.

I don't see where anyone has mentioned it but we are meeting up in the promenade lounge at 3:00 if you are interested.

Are you doing WDW before or after? We are after.

Hi DVC Jen!

I won't lie, I think I got my name idea from you! Thanks for the heads up on the meeting! I'm assuming this is the day of embarkation?

I am interested in doing the fish extenders too. What types of things are people going to bring? I was trying to brainstorm - lack of time is a concern for me, cost, and room in my luggage! I guess I need a better idea what people do! About how many people are doing FE? Sorry if I'm making anyone repeat themselves!!!!

Btw- by any chance is anyone a college program alumnus? I am!!!

Thanks!
Blair

Hey guys! I'm not sure who is organizing fish extenders etc. I want to do it!!! I actually just ordered my "gifts" and I'm super excited!!! :)

How do I get to the "shared" page that I can get the list from??

BTW - we are in stateroom #7616

Let me know what other info you guys need from me! 24 days!

Blair

Blair, Prozac07 can add you to the FE list if everyone else is fine with having a late comer, I know some people have their gifts together already so it would be up to others. I don't have an issue with it, but maybe some others can weigh in.

I have ONE extra gift left - so I am OK with adding another family (our cut off date was April 1st).

Not sure how many others are finished with their gifts and if they have any extras left over.

Hi Blair! I'm had the FE list organized... our cutoff was April 1 but I'm sure one more won't hurt! The only other question I had for you is what's your hubby's name? We have agreed upon 1 gift per family per cruise, and if you wanted to throw in something extra for the little ones you can as well. Our meet is going to be at 3PM in the Promenade Lounge on embarkation day.

I'll be re-posting the list for everyone on here and I'll upload the file to the 4Shared site as well. (www.4shared.com, email: carl.stevens@oce.com,
password: disney) Anyone who wants an e-mail of the Word file, please just PM me your email address!

Thanks everyone! Sorry about the late notice! We just booked last week. Stupid husband's work schedule, we can never plan ahead. Everyone - please do not feel the need to do an extra gift for us. I totally understand this is last minute! I did go to the fabric store to get fabric to make a fish extender - wish me luck! (I'm not a big sewer, but I can do ok sometimes.)

My husband's name is Zachary. I think I told you already our stateroom is 7616. Thanks again guys for your hospitality! Please don't fret if you have already finished your gifts. Our feelings won't be hurt! Promise!! :)

I'm so excited, but a little nervous to leave our DD for 5 days! Eek!

BTW - We are celebrating our 5th anniversary! (A little early, but he'll be gone July 14!) :)
