The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

I love that story and especially hearing this will be your first Disney experience.

Just a warning - if you see me around the ship and I am smiling at you like a doofus -just ignore it and know that I am just enjoying watching your first disney adventure. I hope with my entire heart that it is perfectly MAGICal for you.

Will you be going to the parks after? Or before?

Omgosh - I have it bad (Disneylove).. I am sitting here truly feeling giddy for you. :goodvibes

:) Okay, I won't think anything of it if i see you poking around the corner cheesing really big :teeth:

We are only doing 2 days before the cruise at OKW (seems to be the popular spot with this bunch!) and i made ressies to eat at Whispering Canyon (let me just add here, DH is not big on being "goofy" or whatever, he doesn't like it when we are at a restaurant and they sing happy birthday, etc...and I'm the total opposite.. I want to stand up on the table and scream it's my birthday wearing a tiara..which is weird, because I'll also add, other than that, I'm VERY quiet/shy until I get to know you..I just like to sit back and take it all in.. so now yall now, I'm not being rude with my quietness, it's just my personality!) so whenever i read that WC was a "fun" place to eat, I made the ressie and just told him I have lunch taken care of (I do all the planning, he just goes along with it, which I love!) and i figured we would ride the monorail, take the boat to DTD, explore, etc. and then the next day (the day before our cruise) we will go to MK.. although honestly, I'm still debating on AK or Epcot (i love flowers and they are having the flower/garden show, and I love animals and dinosaurs, so I just can't make a decision!) and then we will hop on board the ship!

So for the questions...

Yall are probably going to think I'm nuts.. :squirrel:

i am realllllllly hoping to find some Toy Story earrings. I mean it's not the #1 thing I'm looking forwards too.. but it's pretty high up there LOL! I am sooo excited about the whole new experience.. we've never even been to FL (and my fav animal is alligators so I'm just hoping/expecting to see one as soon as we cross the state line lol) but the "magic" feeling that I'm hoping I'll have once we get to the parks, that "feeling" i'm expecting to get once I see the ship, and then actually board it.. I guess my #1 thing I'm excited about is feeling magical!! In my mind, I'm leaving all my cares/worries/whatever behind, and hoping to just dive into the magic 100%. And, I've never been to a beach, so I'm eager to get my toes wet in some salty shark infested water :)

The thing I'm worried about... if you read my last post, then you understand that this is like a million things! weather, sea sickness, what if we don't like cruising???, what if i don't get that "magic" feeling i'm so prepared to get, fish (yes, i want to swim in the ocean but i'm scared of fish! LOL) etc. but i keep telling myself to take a chill pill and relax, it'll all be okay, no matter what happens because it's a disney trip! and surely anything disney has got to be great!!!!:yay::cool1:

Mrs Potato Head

You sound just like our DD, Taylor. Did you ALSO cry at Toy Story 3. She blubbered like a baby!

Do yourself a favor and DON'T go research why: Video tape your entry to the ship from the gangway.

Here I'll start the Question o' the Day...
What's your favorite Disney Memory? :earsboy::earsgirl:
WDW
When Taylor (now 19) was 6 we went on our first trip where we STAYED at All Star Movies for a total of 5 days. We walked into MK, and there was a parade. Now those of you who were Disneyfied in the early 90's know. Aladdin was HUGE. Taylor had a crush on him real big. Well what was the FIRST float we see? Aladdin and Jasmine. Jasmine notices Taylor with a Jasmine shirt on, points to her, puts her hand over her heart then blows her a kiss. I still get weepy thinking of Taylor's face. We are huge Lion King fans (maybe you'll catch the family tattoos)... anyway, Taylor is carrying around this little Lion Simba. We run into Rafiki. He takes it from her hand holds it to the sky. I SWEAR that you could see beams of sunlight around him.
DCL
Jon and I renewed our vows on the Magic in 2009. It was wonderful. Dancing on deck 7.

Question of the Day (3/23):
What is the one thing you are most excited about for the cruise?
Bonus: What is the one thing you are most nervous about??

I have quite a vacation planned. But you're going to think this is weird: I am excited for the time where we pull all the batteries from our phones and put them in the safe. Family togetherness WITHOUT mobile devices.

What I'm afraid of... Don't tell Jon but I'm not looking forward to the Vero Beach time with in-laws. I fear NOTHING on the ship. We drove around a hurricane on the Dream in August. I STILL had a great time, even with missing my second dip of the double dip at Castaway Cay.

I am soo excited for my whole family to travel on vacation together. When I was young, my family did not travel at all. I had never been on an airplane before up until a year ago  This will be the furthest from home I have ever traveled!:cutie:

Most nervous about: getting sick! My oldest dd and I both had samonella when all the peanuts were contaminated (like 5 years ago) and since then I am always terrified about getting sick (I know I am weird like that). I also get motion sick. Oh well, I just keep telling myself that no amount of worry in the world will change whether or not it happens!!

You sound so much like me... I love the whole idea of being in the ocean. I LOVE sitting on the beach with a good book or just starring out at the waves crashing on shore - but man am I ever prissy when it goes to fish and other ocean critters.

Follow your heart when picking a park to go to -but there is NOTHING like the Magic Kingdom for your first time.

I am also pretty quiet around people I don't really know. It is sooo easy to type things here and just be me.. but when standing face to face - I get pretty shy.

Oh wow - Ian and I have wanted to renew our vows for quite a while. Our 25th was this past December and I really wish we could have done it - but with two kids in college and him in grad school (going for his PhD) just didn't happen. Maybe for our 3oth??

I have quite a vacation planned. But you're going to think this is weird: I am excited for the time where we pull all the batteries from our phones and put them in the safe. Family togetherness WITHOUT mobile devices.

Nothing like being "unplugged". And to be honest - I wouldn't want to vacation with my in laws either.. LOL heck I wouldn't want to vacation with my out la...errrrrr I mean my own family.

I am soo excited for my whole family to travel on vacation together. When I was young, my family did not travel at all. I had never been on an airplane before up until a year ago  This will be the furthest from home I have ever traveled!:cutie:

Our last and first cruise (6 years ago) I felt a little disoriented on our first night. I remember going to dinner and feeling the slightest of movement but it was enough to kind of throw me off. Didn't last very long and I never actually got sick.

Did you or will you be bringing someone on board with you just incase? We brought some prescription patches but never had to use them. I am thinking of asking our doc for some again - just in case.

Sounds like the absolute best memory of all! Congratulations!

Love the photos and the mouse ears.

Whoa... that is awesome! So you two really are still newlyweds.

Thanks all! Our 1-year anniversary is April 22, so we are using the cruise as our celebration! We actually DIDN'T keep the top of the cake to eat (smushed and half-melted after a 8 hour drive back after the honeymoon), but I'll take a Palo chocolate souffle in lieu of that!! :yay:

Well my mom asked me which bathing suit I want and I told her I really couldn't decide but I guess the bikini. I'm hoping for some sort of birthday surprise! The one piece is adorable, black with white polka dots 50's style vintage, and the two piece is the same 50's style vintage but red with white polka dots, so we will see what happens.

Oh my! I got a red and white polka-dot bikini too! Minnie has such great style though, so why shouldn't we both emulate her?!? ::MinnieMo

Excited about all the new experiences! I feel like a WDW expert, but the cruise is all new to us. I'm excited to meet all y'all too! :woohoo:
Nervous that this trip won't live up to all I imagine it will be... but then again, all our past Disney-cations have been more than magical, so I really don't know how this trip can disappoint.

My DD 19 is prone to motion sickness. On the Dream she only felt iffy once. On the Magic twice. We like Bonine. We give it to her in the transportation to the embarkation and then that evening. After that, we don't have to give it to her on a regular basis.

The instances where she feels "iffy" is bad weather. Some of that may be mental, however Bonine makes it go right away! :thumbsup2She has tried Dramamine but that made her sleepy. We've tried the sea bands (on the wrists) but those bothered her after a bit. I've also heard people swear by ginger supplements.

I am terrified of getting sick. Especially after suffering with these stomach problems since christmas. I am on vacation now and I've been here for a week and tonight is the first night i've gotten sick and i'm just so dissapointed. Stomach bugs are the WORST! Usually at least with a cold I can still function, but stomach bugs make you just want to lay down and be near a bathroom!

I'm going to do as much as i can to prevent getting sick, but in the end, if its going to happen, its going to happen!

I'm very shy too, so don't feel bad. My boyfriend always says how quiet I am at social gatherings and I always tell him, I just don't feel I should say anything unless I have something meaningful to say. In other words I'm just not one of those people that talks just for the sake of it! But most of my friends are and I love them for it, cause they get to be the outgoing ones and I'm more the observer.

I always worry something won't be quite as magical as I think it will be, I've learned to just not expect it. Usually thats when the most magical moments happen!

Where did you get your bikini from? the one i'm looking at is from modcloth.com

I am stuck at my friend's house with a stomach ache while they went out to dinner. (Shouldn't have had that custard). I am feeling a little stressed because 1) I don't feel good and 2) spring break is almost over and look at all that homework that still needs to be done! So instead of worrying about it, I'll just answer my questions from earlier!

I'm probably most excited to just be heading back to disney again. And also to experience something new, because we've never been on a cruise before! Honestly I'm more excited for disney than the cruise but that could all change!

I'm nervous for a lot of things! Seasickness is a big one, and also the fear of getting sick in general. That feeling of "boredom" that I sometimes get when I'm supposed to be relaxing (I HATE the beach), and also sometimes my boyfriend's family can be a lot to deal with, and i'm going to be with them for ten days...if we haven't killed each other by the end of this trip i will consider it a success. I would say I'm just the most worried about being sick, but since i've been sick since christmas, I feel like this is a valid fear

dont laugh but have you tried pregnancy pops. they have ginger in them which help with the queasiness.

I am most excited to see my 3 year old son's reaction to everything! We told him about our trip WAYYYY too soon...so he has been talking about going to see "Mickey House" (yes House) lol for so long. I hope he loves it as much as I think he will. I am most nervous about how my daughter will react to spending some time in the nursery. I really hope she doesn't mind...I would love to have a little time to just relax...but she has never been away from me so I don't know.

Is Bonine over the counter?

Hey guys, I started a facebook group for us, for those of us who have facebook. You have to request to join and I will approve you. One of the people in my May group did one and its just another fun way to get to know people, and if anyone is planning meets and such, it can be an easier way to get in touch with people closer to the cruise and maybe even on the cruise. So here is the link, feel free to join us!

I think we also decided on a name finally so i will be changing the title of this post to add that on!

Yep, I have already bought some motion sickness meds. My pharmacis (brother in law) recommended that you just take Dramamine at night before bed since you only have to take it once a day. I haven't decided if I should get the patch or not. I am probably going to go ahead and take the meds to be on the safe side since sea sickness is better prevented then treated...But I don't know about my dd. Our peditrician said kids don't usually get sea sick unless they are really prone to motion sickness (which mine aren't)!

I just want to go now:lmao::cool1:

i did the same thing and told my 3yo way too early about mickey's boat. at least we've been able to use it on days when he decides not to listen at all "Oh well, I'm going to have to call Mickey and tell him we won't be on his boat with him..."
