The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

WDW
When Taylor (now 19) was 6 we went on our first trip where we STAYED at All Star Movies for a total of 5 days. We walked into MK, and there was a parade. Now those of you who were Disneyfied in the early 90's know. Aladdin was HUGE. Taylor had a crush on him real big. Well what was the FIRST float we see? Aladdin and Jasmine. Jasmine notices Taylor with a Jasmine shirt on, points to her, puts her hand over her heart then blows her a kiss. I still get weepy thinking of Taylor's face. We are huge Lion King fans (maybe you'll catch the family tattoos)... anyway, Taylor is carrying around this little Lion Simba. We run into Rafiki. He takes it from her hand holds it to the sky. I SWEAR that you could see beams of sunlight around him.

DD Jenn (now 24) loves Eeyore. When she was also about 6 or 7, we visited MK, and she was all decked out in Eeyore stuff - shirt, shorts, socks, hair pins, a hat, and even a packpack. We took her picture by the fence where the Eeyore's outline is located and who should come up but Eeyore himself. He points out all the Eeyore stuff, which she proudly shows him, and then he gives her a big hug. She floated on a cloud the rest of the day.

Hmmm....Lion King, Toy Story.... looks like we're getting into the good stuff now - everyone's favorite character and movie. But I'll leave that to our Question of the Day coordinator.

Hey guys, I started a facebook group for us, for those of us who have facebook. You have to request to join and I will approve you. One of the people in my May group did one and its just another fun way to get to know people, and if anyone is planning meets and such, it can be an easier way to get in touch with people closer to the cruise and maybe even on the cruise. So here is the link, feel free to join us!

I think we also decided on a name finally so i will be changing the title of this post to add that on!

Sent my request.

...my fav animal is alligators so I'm just hoping/expecting to see one as soon as we cross the state line lol)

Yet another story....we were staying at the Shades of Green but having dinner at the Polynesian after visiting MK when DD became ill (I suspect it was too much ice cream). Rather than take the monorail to the TC and then a bus to SoG, I said I'd walk back and get the car. I see what looks like a log on the sidewalk but when I'm almost on top of it it turns out to be a small 4 foot ALLIGATOR. Too late so I just hop over the top of him and move quickly away.

Did you know that alligator teeth look really big and shiny in the moonlight?

Where did you get your bikini from? the one i'm looking at is from modcloth.com

Oh I'm cheap, I found one at Ross! (A TJ Maxx-type store) That one on ModCloth is cute though, I didn't even know they had swimwear. Look at the one pieces... there's a "Formalwear" one that looks like Wheezy from Toy Story!

Is Bonine over the counter?

Yep, I have already bought some motion sickness meds. My pharmacist (brother in law) recommended that you just take Dramamine at night before bed since you only have to take it once a day. I haven't decided if I should get the patch or not. I am probably going to go ahead and take the meds to be on the safe side since sea sickness is better prevented then treated...But I don't know about my dd. Our peditrician said kids don't usually get sea sick unless they are really prone to motion sickness (which mine aren't)!

Yes it is OTC, I'm a pharmacist too. I plan on bringing one of everything I can find (Bonine, Sea Bands, ginger candy/gum, maybe stopping by my Minute Clinic to get an Rx for scopalamine patches...) Party on deck 7! :rolleyes1

Question for 3/24:
What's everyone's favorite character and movie?

Question for 3/24:
What's everyone's favorite character and movie?

copper from the fox and the hound. first movie i ever saw in a theater.

and as i look around and see 3 different matchbox McQueens, a Mcqueen chair, a McQueen cereal bowl and cup, and (ugly) Mcqueen sneakers that light up i think it is safe to assume who my son's favorite character is.

Holy crap I would have screamed like a little girl!

Question for 3/24:
What's everyone's favorite character and movie?

My 2 favorite characters I get to see every day are Lilo (left, bulldog mix) and Sebastian (right, pug/schnauzer mix)!

My husband and I LOVE Stitch though, he has to be our favorite to see in the parks. He tried chewing my ring off my finger after I told him we got engaged!

I can't pick one movie... but I tend to like the ones that aren't as popular... Mulan, Emperor's New Groove, Tarzan, Hercules, The Princess and the Frog. And Lilo and Stitch of course!

Question for 3/24:
What's everyone's favorite character and movie?

Too many to choose from!

I like a good scheming Disney villain but my favorites are Hades, Jafar, Scar, Ursula, Br'er Fox and Captain Barbossa (or is he now a good guy).

Non-villains include Max the horse, Merlin, Gopher, and at MK - BIG AL!

Movies: Current favorites are probably Tangled (who knew a skillet could be so handy), the POTC series (though the first was the best), and Sword in the Stone. And for just pure charm, Mary Poppins.

DW likes Pooh and Captain Jack, and Lady and the Tramp and Tangled.

DD likes Eeyore and Rapunzel, and Tangled (but she likes all Disney animated movies)

DS liked Piglet when little but I'm not sure what his favorite is now.

Holy crap I would have screamed like a little girl!

Who said I didn't? :lmao:

Actually, I said something more like "holy crap" as I jumped. :scared1:

But when he (she?) smiled with that big toothy alligator grin, I said "My, what big teeth you have." (seriously, I really did!) :rotfl2:

Nervous that this trip won't live up to all I imagine it will be... but then again, all our past Disney-cations have been more than magical, so I really don't know how this trip can disappoint.

Prior to sailing on the Magic (4th cruise but first on Disney) the first time, I was super excited. Everyday I read and researched as much as I could so that I could be fully prepared to enjoy everything I wanted to and not miss out because I wasn't aware of something.

DW was worried that the cruise might not meet up to my expectations (and she was lukewarm at best about the cruise). However, I had a great time, from start to finish. DW even decided we should book another cruise while on board, and then decided to book TWO cruises.

Interestingly, one of the worst things that happened also turned out to be a good thing in the end. On boarding we went to Guest Relations to check on the wine tastings and learned there was a whiskey tasting the first night at 10pm. Unusual according to my research but I signed up anyway. Turned out it was a typo and there was no tasting actually scheduled that night but there was a quick scramble to put one on. Two other men who had also signed up lost patience and left so the tasting turned into a one-on-one experience. When we finished the CM asked me which whiskey I like the best and poured me another measure, then took the two glasses from the other two places (set up for the men who had left) and gave them to me as well - so that I had a very large drink of single malt Scotch. No complaints from me - and a very satisfactory conclusion to a very enjoyable day.

I know some of the stuff they have on there is really out there but its one of my favorite sites to buy clothes from, I really love the vintage feel. I just wish it wasn't so expensive!

Question for 3/24:
What's everyone's favorite character and movie?

Ok I like you and me alternating with question of the day, that seems to work well! Let's see...favorites...my favorite movie of all time is Lady and the Tramp. Not just disney movie, its just my favorite movie. I used to sit and watch it all day long when I was a kid (I'm a dog trainer..I wonder if that influenced me haha). I also really love The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Herculues, Mulan, UP, Wall-e....god so many! I also recently realized how much i LOVE Tangled, after a week when I was home sick and realized I was watching it like every day!

As far as characters go..I like a lot of different characters. I love micky, and pluto and minnie (I always tell my boyfriend I have to look good when we go to disney cause mickey might ask me to marry him haha!) I also love Pegasus from Herculues and Belle is my favorite princess.

I was trying to watch all the animated films in order before our cruise, but i'm way behind...don't know if its gonna happen (I'm only on dumbo!)

Oh and I too will have every seasickness cure I can think of with me! Especially since I've been feeling nauseous since christmas, I've experimented with all these different things!

I certainly hope we have calm seas and following winds on this cruise! All this talk of motion-sickness medications is beginning to worry me that we'll have a boatload of Bahamian Rum Runners marooned in their cabins. (On the other hand that means more RUM for me!)

I'm not prone to motion sickness, thankfully, since I've been in some terrific storms at sea (courtesy of the US Navy). I was even washed overboard once but that is another story.

Love the idea of the FB page... already sent my request too.

We also named our dogs Disney names. Mine aren't quite as obvious though. Most people think we have some kind of obsession with a drug company instead. LOL Their names are Eli (Walter ELIAS Disney) and Lily (Lillian Disney).

Does Bonine have a tendency to make one sleepy? I am one of those people super sensitive to anything that makes one sleepy. I need to make sure I am awake enough to keep Sir William from drinking all my rum! ;)

OK favorite character - probably Mickey with Snow White as a close second and being my favorite princess.

Favorite movie - Ratatouille.

I can't remember ever seeing Lady and the Tramp - but have really wanted to see it lately. Maybe when I am out grocery shopping this afternoon I will pick it up and we can have (homemade) dinner and a movie night.

You should def watch Lady and the Tramp! I can't even explain how much I love this movie! Even my boyfriend knows to put it on when I have a bad day!

Favorite character: Goofy, his voice is on my cell phone when you call.
Favorite movie: The horse in the gray flannel suit. (I think I just dated myself)

When I was a kid my favorite movie was "The Absent-minded Professor" with Fred MacMurray. Later on, one of my favorites was "Follow Me Boys" also with Fred MacMurray. And, then anything, absolutely anything, with Hayley Mills. I think that pretty much dates me as well so you are not alone in that regard.

I'm watching The Lion King right now. Its been awhile since I've seen it and I'm quite enjoying it - especially the scenes with Scar (he is singing Be Prepared right now).

We have 2 cats. They are rescue cats who came to live with us a few months apart. They are Simba and Nala. Jon and I both have Simba tattoos. Its our "Family" Disney movie. When it came to theaters just recently, Taylor had to come home from college to come to the movies with us. popcorn::

We have a Disney house. A lot of Lion King and Lion King on Broadway decor. I've seen it 5 times. Once in London. I even drove to Cleveland once to see it. Now, if you know anything about the history between our cities, you know how uncomfortable that made me. Especially with the billboards from sports radio stations on the highway that said "Pittsburgh Sucks". :confused3

Taylor's favorite character is Tinkerbelle
Mackenzie is Mulan (she is a Ninja after all)
Mine is a tie between Rafiki and Stitch
Jon loves Donald Duck
