The Bad Neighbor Thread

Just whackdoodles.

In the apt we lived in before we moved into the house, we had a total whackdoodle for a neighbor. She was a mid-40ish woman with a 16 daughter and she didn't work (the mom). She would stay out all night doing god only knows what while her DD would blast loud rap cds that we could hear thumping all the way on the other side of our apt. The mom almost ALWAYS had a can of Diet Coke and if you touched it, she would go a little nuts. I think she was afraid of being poisoned or else she kept her booze in there.:rotfl: She also claimed that, while she slept during the day, her exhusband was coming in, drugging her and stealing her teeth out of her mouth. At one point, she accused the apt mgmt staff of being in league with her ex, letting him into her apt so he could steal her things. She also hung out with a bunch of the teenage/college age guys for reasons DH and I never could understand.

Then there was the stalker. Not ours, thankfully. The apt was trying to be upscale/jazzy and so they'd hired an events coordinator to try and spice up the apt's events calendar. She was given a half-price apt and one night, after a party, some creepy guy followed her to her apt and shouted at her through the windows. She had to call the police to get him to go away, but he found her ph.# and started leaving bizarre messages for her on the answering machine.

I absolutely HATE my neighbors across the street. They like to party every weekend. I don't get home from work until midnight and that is when they are going full swing and our bedroom is at the front of the house and I can hear cars half the morning. At first they would park in my yard, well now, they try to cram all their cars in their yard and block the street and we almost can't get out of the driveway. Our other neighors are older couples, some in their eighties, and they keep to themselves, you would think this group of deliquents would respect that, but Nooooo. I sure wish I could get rid of them. I want my quiet neighborhood back.

So we had a neighbor that was a bit...off. She wasn't bad, just old and had very interesting way of living, I suppose. She only ate bananas, every time she would see me or my mother, she would ask us to buy her bananas. Now, she would get Meals on Wheels as well, but she would never eat them. Just let them pile up in her house.

Now, one day, she had fallen in the house, and called 911. Paramedics showed up, and couldn't get into the house because the smell was so bad. They actually went in with gas masks. Police show up, and declared her house a health hazard, and mandated that it get cleaned. So began this massive 3 month cleaning of her house. She never came back, I guess her kids put her in a nursing home. But we would talk to the cleaners, and the stuff they said, the cleaners were not getting paid enough. She saved everything, she had cans from 1942. She never threw anything out, banana peels, peach pits, etc. all there. The grossest part is that she was always trying to save water, so she would poop in a plastic bag, and just leave it around her house. Years and years of poop in bags! They said they also found a lot of cash in her house, I'm talking close to 7 figures.

Anyway, they cleaned the house up, and it went for sale. The guy that owns it now is running a brothel from it. But he pretty much leaves us alone, and we leave him alone. Oh, and did I mention my neighbor across the street, the friendly neighborhood drug dealer?

it might be time to move :scared:

I live in a apartment complex where we have assigned parking and it seems EVERYONE loves my parking space because it is the closest to the entrance. It is like if I go out will I come back and my space be taken, that is something I have to think about all the time. I've called the management about it, and they told me just not to take anyone elses spot. WHAT????popcorn::

Well I will jump on this band wagon.... I sincerely wish my jerk neighbors kept to themselves and didnt want to associate with me. Everywhere we have lived there have been jerks living next to us. I told DH that we need to build a house in the middle of no where with atleast a 5 mile radius of no one around us:lmao:

Mine like to take advantage of anyone they can. They have a dog that they 'treasure' but yet open the door in the morning and let it in at night, even though the cops have brought the dog home for almost causing accidents in the highway right next to us. They have a million cats that live outside. One of which managed to get in my basement, and they wouldnt even come get it. Told them that it would be goign to the pound. It ended up running away from my house and never returning to theirs... good for the cat!
Needless to say... I hate hate hate all the people around me. Even the guy who likes to work on his Jeep at 9:00 at night and sleep all day. Love listening to that revving motor as I am trying to get the kids ready for bed..

ahhh.... I feel better!:lmao:

We love most of our neighbors as people, but as neighbors some are a little less than ideal. Two neighbors across the street let their cats roam at night. One keeps the cat inside during the day, outside at night. The other neigbor keeps hers in the garage during the day and purposely let it out at night. It has been pg 4 time in 2.5 years. Nope not fixed. Same neighbors have a son (10) with a quad. Our backyard has a private lake. Said son drives his quad over the ice during the winter even though our HOA bi-laws say no motor vehicles on lake (meaning motor boats too). She thinks we are being petty that we don't want to hear the quad on Sat. and Sun. afternoons while we have company or are trying to relax. Of course there is a field in her backyard, but they have an infant she wants to sleep.

And don't get me started on the moron who released 2 farm ducks on our lake. There were 2, now there are 6. Wondering how many we will have next summer.

Other than that, we are the party house in our neighborhood. Everyone is always invited and we do keep it quiet, but not sure why when they are all sitting around the fire with us.

Our neighbor across the street is just plain ignorant.

Years ago, the Fire Marshal came by and told him to get rid of some brush material as it was a fire hazard. What does this idiot do? Yep, gathers it all up and starts it on fire!:scared1: Our county prohibits open fires. His next door neighbor came running out as it was going to blow over to his house. I saw this all on my way out and called 911. He got a hefty fine.

He then builds this UGLY shed/garage for his RV. He did not get permits and did not follow codes. Unfortunately, all he got was a $50 fine for that. In the meantime, the thing is leaning. Every time we get a nice wind storm, I'm on my knees praying to the "wind gods" to blow it over! Although, I did not take the opportunity when I had it. One afternoon an elderly neighbor, who had direct view of this monstrosity, called to tell me there was smoke coming out of the shed/garage. I was faced with a moral dilemma. Do I call the fire department or do I go get the marshmallows? Momma raised a good kid. I called the fire department. The RV's heater was smoking and could have caught fire.

At least we are on acre plus lots, so I don't have a lot of direct contact with him.

What, you havent read the threads about MY neighbor? He lets his dog do the same thing to us, Sun. his unleashed dog was in a fight with 2 rotweilers who were leashed and walking the street. Wow, what noise that was. He is trying to sell his house with no luck so far. All of us neighbors have called the cops on him for something at some point, anything from his mortar, professional illegal firworks shows that make your car alarms go off, to the 2 cops knocking down his back fence to look for his roomate/tenants rotweiler who jumped in some ladys car, to his unfenced pool, using the street as his personal garage repair area, etc. you get the idea. We will all do the happy dance when and if he finally moves. As of now basically no one speaks to him.

good luck.. that sounds pretty bad. I hope his house sells quickly.

now what could I do to get my neighbors to move???:lmao:

I don't want to get into too much detail but....

My mom has known this couple for over 50 years. The couple recently was sent a letter saying that if they didn't sell their house and move quickly their house would be firebombed during the night. Needless to say their is a big investigation going on. This couple is heartbroken but are at an advanced age and don't really want to move. The police and fire department are all involved in this. It is very scary. They cannot let their grandson spend any time in their house anymore.:sad1: My mom had lunch with her friend last week and there are no new developments.

this sounds exactly like the woman who used to live across the street from me growing up. apparently when she passed away a company bought out her house and the stuff they said they found was disgusting (including feces all over the place). i can't even remember the number of dumpsters that they used to clean the house out. she also had a number of cats that she would just keep inside all day (obviously a large part of the dirtiness). she used to sleep on the street in her car that was filled to the brim with old 7-11 mega cups and newspapers. she had a very sizable home, it was the same size as ours and we had a family of 4 living in it. very sad. :sad2:

Not bad neighbors, but our downstairs neighbors (and landlord) are just loud. We always hear them talking and it sounds like arguing, but I think they're just loud (my family is a 'loud family' too, but since I've been w/DH I've toned down and now everyone else is loud!), they slam doors a lot and you always hear their dogs.
I am always wondering what they can hear of us if we can hear them so much! But they always are telling us how much they love us (and they haven't raised our rent in over 3 years, knock wood!)

The guy across the street is obsessed with his car! He's always cleaning it, with special rags and brushes and everything! They have 2 driveways, but he cleans it in the street, and parking is tight on our street to begin with, so that's annoying. Then, I can't fault a guy for going to work early in the morning, but every morning at 5:23, he's out there REVVING his engine before peeling out of the driveway and taking off down the street! He has one of those souped up Mustangs with the 2 tailpipes and it's just so freaking loud!

my neighbors have built a skate park. They have a wooden skate ramp-I guess it's called a 1/2 pipe- down the lenght of their driveway. Day and night there are kids out there. After they start playing their very uncensored foul cd's I call over there. The kid is 12 and has been brought home by the police a few times already.

Last night the husband came home at 1am. I know this because he stood in his driveway and yelled this, and that he might wake up the neighbors. Of course he was standing facing my house. He's a total bully and has grown a pair since he found out my dog is gone ( she hated him and he was terrified of her). They are complete losers.

The family that lives behind us put in a huge skate ramp for their son. Him and his friends are always out there when the weather is good. Honestly, they don't bother me at all. You hear the crashing of the skateboards on the wood over and over, but the kids are all very nice.

I live next door to my mother-in-law. 'Nuff said.

:rotfl2: OMG, I just remembered something; when I was 22 or 23, I lived in an apartment near my university. It wasn't a big place, and the neighbors were pretty decent, but the people below us were being pretty annoying, so I wrote them this letter, printed it off and slid it under their door (yes, I kept it for the past 4 years because I thought it was so darn funny!).

"Occupants of Apartment 8,

Considering that my bedroom is located directly above your stereo, please observe common courtesy and do not play your music loudly after 11:00 PM. The volume, combined with the bass level, means that I often cannot get to sleep, or if I do manage to sleep, I frequently wake up during the night and can hear your music through my floor.

I realize that you probably don't know that your music is disturbing me; and please realize that I am not angry with you. As a student who needs solid sleep every evening so I can go about my academic and extracurricular activities with a sound mind, all I want is to be able to have a good night's sleep in my own apartment. I'm sure you feel the same way!

_____ in Apartment 12"

I can't believe I actually wrote that; hwever, I was way too much of a wuss to actually go down there and talk to them in person!:lmao: To their credit, though, the girl actually came up to apologize and there were no more problems.

I had to call social services on my downstairs neighbours about 10 years ago, when I was living in an apartment. The couple had an adorable 5 month old little girl. But the father had quite the temper. And his yelling at his wife because the baby was crying at 2 am did not go over well with me.

And I'm talking yelling so loudly that people two buildings over could hear him! I used to pray every night that I wouldn't hear him hitting one of them. I didn't hear that, thankfully! But I worried it might happen.

I wasn't getting any sleep and ended up moving to another apartment not long after I called DSS. I can only hope the family got the help they needed, or the mother and child were removed from the situation.

I have dog neighbors too. LOL 3 years ago their dog killed my cat, crushed her to death. She wasn't doing anything, she was sitting in our yard under our tree, their dog saw her from their driveway, he was unchained and he chased her across the street and caught her. She died on the way to vet's office, the vet thought she had been run over she was crushed so badly. This dog repeatedly figured out how to get out of the backyard, he was not trained and was aggressive. Animal Control did come out and take the dog, they did get him back but only if they met a list of rules, they met some of them but not all so the dog went away. About a year later they got another one, same type of dog but not the same one. 2 weeks ago this dog also got out and this time one came after me. Needless to say the police were called, Animal Control did come out and I haven't heard the dog in their backyard for the past 2 weeks. I have 2 dogs of my own, 2 cats and 2 kids, I absolutely do NOT want these people to have another one of these dogs, obviously they are not smart enough to take care of it the right way.
