The Bad Neighbor Thread

When we lived in San Antonio, the people across the street from us rented their house. They were horrible- always had their go-karts running up and down the street, had BB gun practice in their backyard, and the kicker was when their lease was up and they were moving out- they tried to steal the dishwasher out of the house and instead managed to flood the whole thing!

Last we heard, the owners were still in a court battle with them

Everyone is going to Laugh at my complaint but it drives me crazy. We had new people move in across the street they are ok, 3 kids 1 is a sweetheart, the other 2 are loud mouth brats. But the big thing they keep their trash cans sitting out all the time, no one else in the whole subdivision does this, it looks like crap.

I know its not much but it drives me nuts. Other than that I like all my neighbors.

Kae

You need to live in a subdivision that has covenants that covers this! ;)

This one isn't my neighbor, thank God, but she is very well-known to the people from the community...

There is a woman who lives in a neighborhood near me whom everyone calls the "Bird Lady". This woman loves birds and apparently keeps many in cages in her home (friends have told me that they have actually gone to this woman's house for class/Brownie/Scout trips). That's fine, of course; what you chose to do in your own home is your business. HOWEVER, this woman (or rather, her caretaker, since she is now quite elderly) also throws feed freely into her yard which attracts many birds, including hundreds of pigeons. I won't go on and on about how pigeons are vectors of disease and are basically winged rats; just imagine the, um, "plops" that 150 pigeons produce, and then imagine that you're the neighbor with small kids that can't even play in their own backyard because it's a health hazard. All I can say is that I'm glad my neighbors are normal...:rolleyes1

Our worst neighbors no longer live next to us, but when they did they raised pigeons, hundereds of them. :headache: Between the constant cooing, to the birds sitting (and pooping) on our roof and everywhere else, I thought I was living out of a scence from The Birds.

We actually contacted animal control because it became a health issue. The guy came out and agreed that there were too many. Showed him the poop on the roof, all down the house, on the cars, etc. and he said there was not much he could do about that. He changed his mind fast when we told him if that was the case then we would make sure our dogs took care of their business on their lawn. He said, "you can't do that, it's a public health, oh" and the light bulb must have gone on.

The birds were gone within a week. :thumbsup2

I went "head to head" with our neighbor regarding the Canadian Geese. We live DIRECTLY on the river bank and he HATED the geese and their "droppings". I'm of the opinion that if you live on the river, you're going to deal with geese/ducks/wildlife~get over it. He decided he was going to SET FIRE :scared1: to the entire river bank with a 5 gal. gas can. He ran like a mad-man up and and down the river bank with the gas can thowing gasoline along the shore line. I calmly pointed out he was going to not only blow up his own boat, but the neighbors boats, as well as the wooden docks (while I was holding a lit cigarette:lmao: ) I said "step over the goose poop~if it's the worst thing that happens to you in this lifetime~be grateful;) "

BUT Seriously, don't the police in your town have more important things to worry about?!.
Not in the last two towns that I lived in - University Park, TX and Foster City, CA. We had virtually no crime. The police would come out in full force with multiple cars for the simplest phone call. They really didn't have much to do there.

Now in New Orleans where I am now - well I probably wouldn't call the police unless at least two bodies were on the ground. I called the police in Houston once when there was someone on my roof outside my second story bedroom - that was 20 years ago, and they never did show up.

my neighbors have built a skate park. They have a wooden skate ramp-I guess it's called a 1/2 pipe- down the lenght of their driveway. Day and night there are kids out there. After they start playing their very uncensored foul cd's I call over there. The kid is 12 and has been brought home by the police a few times already.

Last night the husband came home at 1am. I know this because he stood in his driveway and yelled this, and that he might wake up the neighbors. Of course he was standing facing my house. He's a total bully and has grown a pair since he found out my dog is gone ( she hated him and he was terrified of her). They are complete losers.

We just moved here about five months ago and we're still househunting, so for now we're living in an apartment. Unfortunately we live in a college town so we have students for neighbors. They're loud, they have friends over at all hours, they run up and down the stairs, they leave fast food trash and beer cans everywhere, etc. I can't wait to find a house.

Most of my neighbors are great. Our family is one of the original owners on the block. So we have seen some neighbors come and go. But for the most part, the ones in my cul du sac have been there for quite some time except for one family. It is a single father with two teen age girls. Shortly after moving in, he moved in his girl friend. Well, she failed to tell her ex that he was her ex so he kept coming over and arguing with them. Then they have two dogs who they refuse to keep in their yard. The always run all over the place. When we say something, they just say, "oh thats just fred, he won't hurt anyone." Sorry, but it bothers my dogs when someone comes to their yard. Even if its fred. And the teen girls are always fighting in the yard about someting, the girls are forever breaking cerfew, and then arguing with their dad about it when then get home. They just don't respect anyone else in the circle. Plus, I have seen him dump garbage in our cans on trash day just before they do pick up. We are two houses away and he didn't ask. I would just wish they would leave.

The worst neighbor lives on the next street over. Their back yard buts up to my next door neighbors front yard (odd I know) so when ever they are loud, I can hear it in my room. My room is the only room in the front of the house in the entire cul du sac. Not so much a problem except when they have horse shoe parties. They last all day and all night. They will start as early as 5pm on friday and run straight through till sunday late afternoon. It means nothing for them to be playing still at 4am. They do it often enough that its just plain rude.

So we had (thank goodness) bad upstairs neighbors... The moved out the end of September and we have been on vacation since... they were so loud when the walked, we could hear everything.... and we mean everything.... we had to tell them many times to keep it down.... We heard the owners are trying to sell the place and we hope ( I know that is bad) that no one buys the place..... we can't take it anymore... I am in school full time and work full time and DBF works full time... but we like the peace and quiet.... if we can hold out for 9 more months then we will be buying our first house... but that is my bad neighbor story....

Oh my God - my dh this something similar a few years ago. We have a neighbor who used to let her dog out two/three times a day. He went all over everyone yard. People put notes in her mail box, one neighbor would blow a horn everytime their dog was on their lawn, etc.

My dh saw him poop on our lawn once so he got a shovel and placed it on their lawn. They did not give us a problem. They do not have the dog anymore. Don't know what happened. They have a little one now and is always on a leash.

Someone else around the block that we know - her children walk the dog and they never have a bag. We have told them over and over that we don't like coming out of our cars and stepping on it. One time I saw the young girl and the dog pooping. I said - I hope you are picking it up and she said, I will come back with a bag. I said, Hold on and ran in the house to get her a bag. We have told them over and over.
Our apartment allows pets and there are baggies everywhere for owners to clean up after their dogs. I see people out walking their dogs all the time, yet I have never in our five months living here seen anybody carrying anything to clean up after their pets with. We've even reported people who have just let their dogs crap wherever and walked off. I can't let my DD run around on the grass because there are piles of **** everywhere.

I know our subdidivision was done part while the owner lost it all to the bank so all he got on the books was size requirements & any garage requirements. Which believe me am thankful for. the City handles most stuff. Sad thing is the house used to be the best kept in the neighborhood now it is just sad, and its not that bad it's just the little things.

Well, there is at least one in every neighborhood.

My next door neighbor's dog was always wandering around the neighborhood. I can't tell you how many times complete strangers came to my door trying to locate the dog's owner. Anyway, this dog would poop everywhere. Two of my neighbors like to keep their garage doors open. Well, the dog went in their garages and pooped. Several neighbors talked to the neighbor about the problem. She didn't do anything to correct it. The fact is that they didn't care about the poor dog.

One day, I was out in the front yard when I saw the neighbor across the street walking toward problem neighbor's house with a plastic bag. All of a sudden, this neighbor started flinging dog poop at their front door. :lmao: :lmao: It was hilarious!!!

This thread is inspired by the fact that I had to call the cops on one of our neighbors this morning..... A long story short, this guy loves to either walk his dog, or just let it run around (with him standing right there) and allow the dog to poop on everyones lawn, and then just walk away without picking it up.
The last time he did this on our lawn, my DH was standing right there - the neighbor let his dog do its business, and just walked away. When DH asked him if he planned on picking it up, the neighbor said, "Oh yeah, I'll be right back for it." He never came back. So this morning, when the same exact thing happened, DH went outside, and asked him to pick it up. When he got the same responce, my DH came back inside, got a bag, picked up the poo, walked it over to the neighbors house, and left it on his door step (Something several people in the neighborhood have done many times). The neighbor saw this, and started yelling, cursing, and threatened him with his dog. (A little background on this guy - he is millitary, I think an Army Cop - now ofcourse there are thousands of great millitary people out there - this guy just isn't on of them - he thinks he above the law.) So anyway, I called the police - the came, filed a report, and thats it.

So what about you - what are your bad neighbor stories??

ETA - Most of my neighbors are great - there just always has to be one bad apple in the bunch!!

Since I have been unfairly labeled 'The Bad Neighbor" by my Neighbors :confused3  ...I will stay out of this thread!

However...Are you sure its THE DOG dooing all this?:rolleyes1

I have a friend who delt with the college thing she said sometimes you would just see someone naked run down the street. But she could always find a beer if she was out;) When we lived by Notre Dame we had grad students next to us, nice guys but they would invite people to stay over game weekends & then not come home so they would sleep by their door. I would have to step over them in the morning. & we did not have inside hallways.

OMG, I used to live in Foster City too and you are so right. We used to laugh that the cops all came out when someone parked in the red zone at the Safeway, because that was the closest thing to crime going on there. My boss' son had his car stolen one night in Foster City and when he called the police, they told him they knew who probably took it. They drove to this guys house and sure enough, there was the stolen car. I miss living in Foster City (but I don't miss the cost of living there LOL).

oh! I totally forgot about the neighbors on the other side of me!! I've been here 12 years, and they have never spoken to me. They like to stay to themselves. Which is fine. Apparently however, their daughter doesn't feel the same way, as my XH ( one of the many reasons he is this) cheated on me with her! And they totally thought it was funny. They would stand on their front porch when I was outside and talk about me in a very loud voice about how she was his girlfriend and wife didnt mean anything.

That stopped the day I drove my truck up to the front door and handed her his toothbrush. ;) I may have taken out a shrub or two.

Maybe she let the cats lick it....

agnes!

We used to live in townhomes and the neighbors door was literally 5 steps away. Well they just moved in (mother, father, 2 kids) and we decided to go greet them and welcome them to the neighborhood. It started out with occasional visits, we'd invite them in to chat for a few minutes. Well it slowly started to turn into hour visits and coming over CONSTANTLY. It got to the point where we would not answer the door and wait upstairs looking out the window until they left :rotfl:
Ready for this one? They would sometimes WALK into our house if we didn't answer and walk upstairs.."oh there you are!". Sometimes when I would babysit my nephew she would stay with me almost the entire day. This lady would do her bills on our kitchen table!
We put a stop to this real quick.
