The Bachlorette!!!!!

I think her only choice is the firs guyfrom TX. I just watched tonite for the first time. I think he is Matthew, he was the only normal one.

I do think she liked Lanny but after seeing Mommy Dearest - whoa! I would have asked him to take his shirt off to check for the umbilical cord. I also would have given the DIL my card and told her when she needed to escape I would be there for her.

The other one from TX, Chad, what a loser as well as a liar. She has to confront him on this one. Unless he can come up with aplausible excuse why he is unemployed - no come to think of it, if he quit to do the show Momwould have said that. So hit the road jack!

Ian, the metrosexual, please. Even if you are not close why not let her see why you are so closed off. It would have worked for him. Would have explained his saying he has hard time opening up. He could be gay and that is why no Mom & Dad but ..... I do think at least his brother and friend were.

Last night was the first time I felt SORRY for Meredith!

Matt is adorable, but stiff...

Chad is a LIAR who lives with his MOM!!

Ian... girl...HEAD FOR the HILLS, this one is WEIRD!!

and

Lanny... that Mom would've scared even ME! She was talking about the biblical "submissive" which I couldn't even IMAGINE her being submissive to anything, especially the husband who barely said a thing while she ruled the whole show! I hope she saw herself on that show and realize she ruined it for her son...

Yuck, some choice!

I wonder if she regrets any of her cuts from prior rounds. She really has wound up with a bizarre selection of men here.

I think Meredith has a wonderful connection with Matt. She actually seems to glow when she is with him or even talks about him. She also seemed really comfortable with his family. He seems like a really genuinely nice guy.

Ian really creeps me out. He is such a strange guy. And his brother is even stranger! It would have send up a red flag with me when he didn't want her to meet his parents.

I can't believe she kept Chad after finding out that he lied to her about having a job. It's already a little odd for him to live with his mother (though I certainly respect him for looking after her when his father passed away, I wonder if it's not him who needs looking after more than his mom), then the lie would have topped it off for me.

I just don't think that Meredith and Lanny would have ever worked out. There were just too many differences: he is a strongly religious person, she is not; he lives in the country, she is a city gal; he is sweet and country, she is sophisticated.

I thought Meredith's facial expressions were hilarious when Lanny was explaining in great detail about how horses are bred. She must had had an inkling then that it would never work with him. After meeting his psycho mother, I'll bet she couldn't wait to get out of there!

I have the feeling that she will pick Matthew (who resembles Bob if you ask me!). I also think that the relationship will fizzle out fairly quickly. I agree with Dana, I think she may have let some of the better choices go. Ian is just too weird, and Chad is just too iffy--being 31 yrs. old and still living with his mother. I know he said he was living there to look after his mother after his father died, but she didn't look old and feeble to me. She looked like she could take care of herself.

I couldn't agree more. Chad lied to her and it appears she didn't even call him on it. She just breezed over the comment from the mom about being unemployed. Also, the sister was a little too eager to see them together. Maybe they are hoping for a Trista/Ryan type deal?

Now don't even get me started on "Mrs Lawrence".....be there for him weather you want to or not? What planet is she from?

I also get weird vibes from Ian, so I guess I'm leading towards Matthew.

I guess I'm alone - I like Ian. He was open with her that his family wasn't very warm and that he was closest to his brother. Ian has said many times he can't see getting engaged at the end of the show - what he said to his brother wasn't new. I think he is acting fairly typical male...

I think the final two will be Matthew and Ian.

I'm with you. I like Ian. Maybe it's because I don't have a close relationship with my father either, but I could understand his wanting the first family meeting to be with the family he felt close to. If I were in that position, there are definitely a few people that I would choose over my dad.

I have to disagree with those that think that Lanny's mom is nuts and ruined it for him. I think that both Meredith and Lanny should be thankful because his mom really showed how different that they are and that they really aren't compatible in the long run. I think that she is a Christian woman with strong beliefs and while it was a little bit much to bring up "submission" in that way, I don't think that she was out of line to ask about beliefs, etc. As to the "Mrs." thing, I guess that is personal preference. I wouldn't use "Mrs." or "Mom" with my mother-in-law, so I guess I would feel most comfortable personally with using the first name, but people and traditions are different. (I grew up never calling my aunts and uncles "Aunt" or "Uncle", but used their first names only. Most people do say "Aunt Sue" or "Uncle Jim". That would feel strange to me. To each his own).

"Mrs. Lawrence" asked Meredith what she could do to nurture her if she ended up marrying Lanny.............I don't know.........a restraining order maybe??? LOL

p.s. I think Lanny's mom could have had a conversation off camera with Lanny about her concerns. She must have thought that Lanny hadn't asked Meredith about any of this.

tried to get Lanny's mother to call in or someone that knew her this morning. DH had to turn it off before anyone did or did not call in.

I feel sorry for Meredith. What a bunch to choose from. I shall hope there was a lot of stuff we have not seen that makes one guy better than the rest. She says she is in "Love" now in her post production interviews. Best of Luck, Meredith........

Two seconds after Lanny's mother started talking made me know he was outta there! Good Lord, his mother sounded as though she was Lanny's girlfriend rather than his mother. Her tone was confrontational, but syrupy sweet - a wicked combination and not one a girl would or should willingly jump into. Huge red flags. I said to my husband while watching (which he won't admit to doing, so don't tell him I told you!) - "if I EVER act like that to our sons' potential wives, please duct tape my mouth shut!"

I'm rooting for Matt. I think Ian is the best looking, but he's got too many deep issues, I think. Matt seems well rounded, and perfect for Meredith. I also like Chad (although the part about the job was a little strange), but I think she will pick Matt. They both glow around one another. :)

Oh, and one other thing. If I never hear the words artificial v agina again, it will be o.k. by me. That truly was one of the more uncomfortable moments in Bachelor/ette history, and there have been PLENTY of them, that is for sure!

I think he should have stopped after saying the "AV"..........none of us wanted to know any more!

LOL Snoops I so agree!

Okay now I gotta know if Lanny's mom called in!!!!

I knew that Lanny would be going as soon as the mother started. OMG!!! Who would want to know that they'd have to wake up to her as her MIL every morning?

I thought the same thing about Ian... maybe a homosexual in denial? Why would the brother leave and then come back to talk privately? Did the producer make him do that because they didn't capture any *alone* time with Ian and the family? If it was my brother, I'd certainly talk to him... but the next day would be fine by me.

Ian has too many issues... Chad has too many issues... the only one who seemed to have a normal family life was Matt. I hope she picks Matt.

ok.. Is anybody else having difficulty "believing" in the Bachlor/Bachlorette show since the Bob debacle??
I guess because I really liked Bob when he was on the first Bachlorette with Trista, and I even liked him when he did his run ending with Estella... but after finding out he was just going thru the motions (due to relationship with Rebecca Budig)
makes me very leary of trusting the "honesty" of relationship/courtship on the show. I felt duped by Bob.......
who has almost single handedly ruined the series for me.

as for Meredith, Matthew seems the best bet..... if they had children... Holy cow there would be some Serious dimples on that kids face!!!
She seems comfortable with Chad too. I assume he will resume his job once the series ends.

My personal opinion is that when the bachelorette chooses, she is much more invested and it has a greater chance of working out. It's one of those Mars/Venus things I think;)

I had a feeling that Lanny was going to be kicked off because of his mother talking about religion so much and of how she wants her son to be treated. True every mom is protective over their kids, to a certain extent, but she was pushing it a bit too much.
What's up with Lanny's sister in law calling her mother in law-Mrs.

I cannot believe she still kept Ian around.........he should have been gone along time ago. She said early on that he is so to himself she is not sure about him........so why keep him? I thought sure last night that she would finally rid of him........to not want to share her with his family ~ even if he doesn't have a close relationship with them??? Thoughts shared here kinda make you say hhmmmmm!

I told my daughter last week that I thought it would be Chad and Matthew in the end and her picking Matthew...........I still think this. Even though Chad lied to her, I think she is somewhat drawn to him............but nothing like she is to Matthew. She said last night that she might just be falling in love with someone, and I truly think that someone is Matthew.........they light up the night sky when they are together!

Now........as for Lanny's mom! I don't think she was that bad. Yes, she was very straight forward, and had specific questions that she wanted answers to. I don't think that she was out of line ~ to the point yes, but out of line no! I think the saying "no man is truly happy until he has his mom's blessing" is true. Lanny was raised with certain morale's and religion.........and I think he should be able to respect that and expect that from someone he is looking to spend the rest of his life with. I also think that it is fair for his mom to want the best for him..........and to want for him to find these values in the person he will spend the rest of his life with! As for the DIL calling her Mrs. Lawrence..........this is a "southern respect" thing. I didn't see anything wrong with the DIL calling her MIL "Mrs.".......I think a lot of people in the southern states are raised to respect women/elders with a "Mrs", "Ms", "Miss". I think the only thing that caused Meredith to send Lanny home was her uneasyness with the "farming scene". Remember she was/is afraid of horses....

Oh goody!

I was beginning to think I was the only person on the planet watching The Bachelor/ette this time around!

I'm with disykat and accomp - I've liked Ian since day 1. Very suave, smooth, handsome, and they just seemed to have a chemistry. But last night really brought out his issues. Sort of seems like he just didn't expect it to get this far.

I thought she should dump either Lanny or Chad last night - Lanny because of the Mother thing, and Chad because he hasn't been real honest with her. I have to admit that I thought Lanny took it very well - not like Ryan M (oh, just don't get me started on that guy, I think the "M" stood for "Motormouth")

I'm betting it will come down to Ian and Matthew, and she'll choose Matthew. But we'll see in about 3 weeks or so.....

And mamajoan is right - the whole Bob things was just too much.
