****The April 2015 thread**** come check in and chat!

23 more days and my daughter and I are dying (okay, well, not really but. . .) We are so ready for some springtime fun in the sun. Ugh. :-)

I noticed Indiana is closed starting on the 20th. Anyone have an idea how long it will be down?

Thanks!

How far of a walk is it to the paradise hotel? we are doing the character breakfast at PCH, but staying at HOJO. want to make sure we get there in time.
The directions map on my iPad says from HoJo to PPH is 1.2 miles going the route thru downtown Disney. It says it will take approx. 25 minutes walking

I noticed that also! Better get our Indiana in when we will be there on the 19th. Never been on it. I tried checking several sites today and nobody has it listed under refurb yet :sad2:

Yeah I saw that about Indiana so bummed. We are gonna hit disney on 18th and 19th in hopes of a ride or 2 before they shUT it down. Let's just hope the list stops growing

Spending Easter Sunday at the parks and hoping it is not too, too crazy. DD 17th birthday falls on Easter for the first time ever. Thought it would be a fun way to spend the day. Staying the night at Paradise Pier. Hoping to check in really early at the hotel to enable us to enjoy the early entry at CA that morning. We haven't been out there in 4 years so there are many new things to see.

This is our first family trip to DL and we are excited! We are going to be in the parks Apr 28-May 1 (my birthday!) and we currently have reservations at the Springhill Suites on Harbor, but I am on the fence about canceling and booking onsite. We have an almost 3 year old (yeah for getting in free!) and a 7 month old so I would love to be a quick walk to/from the park for naps, meltdowns, etc. Also, since they are early risers the early hour in the park would be nice since we will be up anyways.
For those that have stayed on site, if the price was the same would you stay at DLH or PPH? We can get a Premium Room at PPH for the same price as a Standard Room at DLH. How are the room sizes? We would need a crib for the baby and either a King and Sofabed/cot or 2 queens.

I am a touch late here but we are going April 19th - 23rd. We decided kind of last minute and are booked concierge at PP for the first time ever. So excited!!

I might be in the minority, but I think PPH is a little bit closer to the parks than DLH when you cut through the Grand. We stayed there in October and really liked it. I believe their king rooms have sleeper sofas in them. I have stayed at the DLH, but it was before the renovation a few years back. Just going off my memory, I would say the PPH rooms were a little larger, but it's been so many years since the DLH, I might be remembering it wrong.

Even closer than the onsite hotels (except for the Grand) are the hotels directly across the street: Best Western Park Place, Tropicana, Desert Inn and Suites, Park Vue etc. They are not nearly as nice as the onsite ones though.

I would go with the DLH over PPH any day. I stayed at both in January and the DLH was much nicer and larger. The DLH also has Disney touches in the room that the PPH does not; mickey hands on the faucets and lamps in the bathroom, and the light-up musical headboard which was amazing. The PPH room we had (premium club level) was very run down and almost felt dirty. We felt crowded with two adults and an 8 yr old. DHL we had a standard accessible room and had plenty of room for two adults and two 8 Yr olds. I also felt the walk to DHL was shorter -a straight shot through DTD.

Pros for DLH:

- amazing grounds
- fun lobby area in each tower
- rooms are gorgeous with light up headboard and Mickey fixtures
- monorail pool is super
- TRADER SAMS!
- moret dining options - both quick service and full service, including character dining
- cool shops

Pros for PPH:

- bigger rooms and most of them sleep 5
- possibly views of World of Color
- California Streamin' water slide and rooftop pool
- less expensive
- cute theming in room with beach ball pillows, Mickey lifeguard lamps

I'm not sure when Orange County schools have their Spring Break, but Los Angeles schools have their break the week BEFORE Easter. We also get April 6th off for Cesar Chavez day. I've gone during that week twice and while it is busy, it is totally doable. (If it was bad the first time we wouldn't have gone back a second time!) So don't panic, and just do all those things you know you should do - arrive before rope drop, eat at odd times, hit the major attractions during parades and fireworks, etc. You'll have a blast.

Just realized it's THREE WEEKS AWAY for us!

We were there during Spring Break time in 2009. It didn't seem all that bad really. We arrived before the park opened, grabbed fastpasses as soon as our windows opened and had a great time. The only time it seemed really nuts was when it was time for fireworks. Then you realized just how many people were in that park.
