The Amazing Race - Season 38

Anyone watching? I had to double check that there wasn't a thread already posted, but I caught up with my DVR and saw the premiere was last Thursday.

Not being a Big Brother viewer, I have no idea who these contestants are. And frankly, I'm never a big fan of these seasons where they're just recycling other CBS reality show contestants. But I am interested in how a Europe-only season will go. It does sound like they'll be more on their own for transportation to each country, which I like. Recent seasons have been pretty boring with pre-arranged flights or charter flights. Admittedly, some of that was out of their hands with Covid issues.

Anyways, no favorites so far, but I suppose there is going to be a lot more strategy and "alliances" this season, which I guess makes sense, given the contestants and especially since many of them know each other already.

I was a little thrown off at first of all the Big Brother contestants as I also don't watch it. The knowing each other already with so many of them being like that will be interesting.

It started off kind of weird. I thought I had missed something since they went straight into the competition before standing on the mat with Phil. It was a little bit of a whirlwind at first (the body bowling thing), it moved too fast, and I do watch Big Brother so I'm familiar with at least one contestant (if not both) on each team. The one couple (Matt and his wife) caught me off guard because on Big Brother, Matt went by his last name "Turner" and he doesn't even seem/act like the same person, other than how he looks. Even though I've watched every season, there are two who I have absolutely no recollection of. I'll be watching, though, just like I do every season.

I totally forgot it started up again, and then just saw it on my DVR. I too am interested in how an all-European season will go. I think taking so many trains will be interesting.

I do watch Big Brother, so I know who these people are. Some of them I loathe, so I'm not happy to see them again. It is interesting some of the dynamics, like Rubina and Tucker being a couple, but on different teams, and some exes/rivals thrown in there as well.

I think taking so many trains will be interesting.

I want to see if the preview for the trains being cancelled (that showed "on this season" IIRC) was in Germany with Deutsche Bahn which is notoriously awful for on timeness.

I watched the premier last week. I'm not a Big Brother viewer so this is just like a normal season to me. I'm sure this week's episode will help me decide who I like and who I don't (I have a couple of ideas already). The team that was sent home last week probably wouldn't have gotten very far, looked like they were both a few fries short of a Happy Meal. The team that came in 2nd to last, will probably be gone this week. They couldn't find an X on a map if someone showed them. Excited that it's back on though!

We're watching--by "we", I mean me and my son, the International Studies major who loves any kind of travel. We're excited to see them visdit some lesser-known European countries, and work the train system.

That said, not sorry about the team that went home. A couple teams just don't seem to have their act together. We don't watch Big Brother, so we have no idea who anybody is or what strategies they might use.

I thought the bowling looked fun!
