~ The Amazing Race ~ Season 16 ~

I think you are confusing the speed bump and the u turn.

Jeff and Jordan had the speed bump. That is an extra task that no other team has to do, ie building the wall.

Joe and Heidi had to do the Uturn which is where you have to go back and do the other side of the detour (ie crawling and then having to go back to do the morse code).

You are right, I did mix the two up ;)

Thanks for clearing this up for me everybody!

I'm so happy Jeff and Jordan are still there. Jeff is really coming off as not as smart as I had thought LOL

While I am happy to see Joe and Heidi gone, they did seem really pathetic in the trench all crying and stuff. It does seem like a crappy way to go home.

This weeks Elimination Station was funny but it did not show Joe and Heidi arriving. I wonder if they have different places for the teams to stay depending on where they get eliminated.

I wish Phil was doing a blog this season. I'd really like to hear his take on the detour/roadblock last night and also the u-turn. And what he thinks about Jeff/Jordan.

I never watched BB so I had no idea who these two were. I recognized the shirt he was wearing last night . After reading his bio on TAR website, I realized that he's from our area. I had no idea that he's as old as he is. I guess, I assumed that he was younger because Jordan is so young.

My favorite line of his was from two weeks ago when he said that they definitely shouldn't breed. :rotfl2:

I think that it was a bold, risky move on the part of the cops to U-turn Joe and Heidi. But it paid off and that's what counts. And it puts them up for a U-turn in other teams eyes as the team to beat (right now that is).
Exactly. Unlike in season 14 when Luke and Margie used it without people knowing it was them until later, ALL the teams knew it was cops.

Well ... crap. There is no official map and I was going by the Wiki and it said they would be in Lille, France near Calais. Nope. They ended up in Massiges near Champagne. I missed out making a dish and serving champagne!

My meal was planned for Lille which is on the French/Belgium border. It was also my friend's birthday.

French baguette with brie cheese
Moules steamed in wine and herbs, served with a white Bordeaux.
Belgium Leek Tart with Goat Cheese (one half no leeks for my fussy DD)
Beef Carnbonnade (a beef stew) served on egg noodles with a Cote du Rhone wine.
Birthday cake

WHAT a lucky friend! That meal sounds DELICIOUS!!:worship:

Pleased with the outcome. Too bad it wasn't true "blind" u-turn, but it served its purpose. I always get a kick out of the teams feeling "picked on" when they have to do a u-turn. In this case, the cops (to the cameras) made it clear that it was a put-your-money-where-your-mouth is move.

Joe was too cocky on the bus to say the comments he did within ear shot of everyone.

While I'm glad that Jordan and her BF got to make it through (always like the underdog to make it on an elim round), their days are numbered.

I had wanted to root for the Beauty Queen, but I'm about done. They are not paying attention to details at all and somewhere in that relationship is an ego unwilling to ask for help with directions if needed. She said they had difficulty, but they don't show it too much--so not sure how much it is impacting them other than they seem to be just missing the end on each leg now.

Good episode.

And Robinb--loving that menu!

We were in France on vacation one year for hubby's birthday, so I got him a birthday cake at a little patisserie and they put the salutation in French...Bon Anniversaire. I think I got more of a kick out of it than he did.

Shoot! I wish I had thought of that. I had them say it in English.

I think from a game play point of view they U-turned the wrong team. Joe's knee was a big handicap and I think you U-turn the strongest team left in the race.
That's true, they should have U-turned the cowboys. ::yes:: I wasn't thinking of the bad knee, I still think of J&H as a strong team, but the cowboys are stronger.

My favorite part last night was when Dan and Jordan were crawling through the barbed wire, and the one in front (not sure which one it was) called over to one of the snipers and asked "How you doing, you Ok there?" Then he said he was just checking on his fellow soldiers. :lmao: His brother was laughing so hard he could hardly crawl. He was telling him he needed to shut up.
That was funny! The brothers cracked me up last night. Also, celebrating because the car was an automatic, and after a little bickering in the war zone, one of them said "I am having so much fun!"

That's the way it should be! Have fun with it! Carol or Brandy, whichever one it was who said "I didn't sign up for this" has it all wrong. Like some of you have said, you do whatever they tell you, and sometimes it isn't pretty. Has she ever seen the show before? :confused3:

It does, but I was surprised they seemed to give up as soon as they knew they were the last team. At that point there hadn't been a roadblock yet (I doubt they would have known there wasn't going to be one), and you never know if another team might get lost, have a bunch of trouble with another task, etc. They probably wouldn't have two non-elimination legs in a row, but other factors could come into play. IMO, you should never give up.

Wow!! :worship: My menu seems so juvenile in comparison! ;) :)

We had coq au vin, french bread with butter, and French vanilla ice cream for dessert! :rotfl:

I love the Amazing Race! Yes, Jeff and Jordon aren't exactly the smartest kids on the block but boy, Jeff cracks me up! His one liners are hilarious.

Yours sounds yummy too! I made mine extra special because we were celebrating my friend's birthday.

I had my fingers crossed hoping they would U-Turn the lesbians. No such luck, as I can't stand them.

Yeah, and here we thought it might be them or the cowboys with the u-turn. It's all in the editing.

While watching the show, I thought that Joe and Heidi gave up too soon but we really don't know how long they were out there trying to decipher the code.

Brandy didn't sign up for that.

and what did she think she was signing up for? They are driving me crazy with all the complaining.

Also, I am really tired of how Jeff treats Jordan. Even on BB he had her thinking she wasn't contributing. She's just too sweet to tell him to knock it off.

I read an interview with Joe and Heidi on my Kindle (hence no link). Joe said they spent five to six hours on the morse code. He said one big problem (beside not knowing Morse code) is that the tape they were listening to was looped: hence they could not tell what was the beginning of the message. He also said that the planes buzzing overhead and explosions did not help with their concentration.
