The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

So what. It works for her! Why must everyone have the same type of relationship or it is considered bad? What would be the big deal if Amber let Rob make all the decisions? As long as it doesn't bother her then it shouldn't be an issue with anyone else.

ITA! They seem happy together. Good for them.

Why couldn't this last episode been a non-elimination round? I'm still so disappointed that the brothers are gone. They were so neat to watch. They always say "may" be eliminated. I had my fingers crossed. :(
Rob and Amber seem to have a good understanding of what their roles are in this race and it seems to be working. Good for them. I don't care for petty bickering, ala "the beauty queen". It's such a waste of energy in a situation where they need to be working together.

I would just like to add that I enjoyed last night's episode of the recap. I believe it's a first for Amazing Race.

Also, I read in a previous post that the brothers indicated that the camerman and the sound man got hurt from the car accident.

I didn't realize that TWO people follow each team.....is that right? I just assumed it was only one...the cameraman.

Please verify. Thanks!

Amazing Race is definately my favorite show!

This is what they said in their morning after interview. I didn't realize there were two people, either. They said one had cracked ribs and the other had bruised discs. The brothers weren't hurt because they were in seat belts.

I agree, they never say the last team to check in WILL be eliminated. They always say MAY be eliminated.

I know I am right. I have paid attention since AR1 to Phil when he tells us a recap of what the clue says. "The teams will be arriving at this 16 century castle located in the English Countryside...the last team to check in WILL be eliminated."

And if they want to throw you off, or it is non elimination, they throw in MAY.

The teams also always read outloud what it says.

I'm not sure about this season, but I remember at least in season one Phil would say "will be eliminated".

I guess I shouldn't have said always in my prior post. Sorry!

I have watched from season 1 as well. They did say WILL that season. Then they started throwing in the PREDETERMINED NONELIMINATION legs and changed to MAY be eliminated.

I have noticed over the last couple of races that usually the first two legs they say WILL get eliminated because the teams pretty much expect that. But then they start saying MAY after the first leg or two so that the teams never know for sure. They also never so PREDETERMINED NOELIMINATION anymore, but I would think that the would have to be predetermined to obey the TV game show rules.

Honestly, there really is no way to tell what will happen by what the clues say. And, as this weeks episode proved, sometimes the teams read the clues wrong anyway, so it might say MAY but they skim through and say WILL BE ELIMINATED without even thinking.

I'm finally getting around to posting the departure times:

Ron & Kelly - 5:29 am

Rob & Amber - 5:43 am

Uchenna & Joyce - 5:51 am

Lynn & Alex - 5:52 am

Meredith & Gretchen - 6:12 am

Greg & Brian - 6:22 am

They were all actually pretty close coming into the pitstop at the end of the last leg (corn grinding/water detour)

I guess I am a huge Rob & Amber apologist, but here are my thoughts on Amber being indecisive and submissive.

I just rewatched this weeks episode and I just saw Amber make a decision. When they were at the detour they initially decided to do the balancing task. Once they started and Rob was having problems and was getting frustrated saying the task was really hard Amber told him "If you can't do it, tell me right now." I guess not quite a "decision" but certainly not submissive. Plus she really did take control of the milking task.

Different personalities is what makes the world interesting. I think they complement each other very well. And if Rob being the outspoken one works for them in their relationship (and in the game) then why not? Who are we as viewers to critize them for how they relate to each other? (Especially when they seem to be getting along and enjoying each others company :cloud9: ) Plus, I bet Amber has Rob wrapped around her finger. :ssst: When she does speak up he listens.

As far as this weeks episode. I loved seeing all the animals. Loved Uchenna's comments about "being born" to do the balancing task. And really liked how Lynn "coached" Alex through the roadblock.

I'll miss the antics of the brothers, but I wasn't overly enamored by them. (they didn't seem to play very smart - lots of mistakes)

You gotta love the Amazing Race :goodvibes

You are right. If it is an elimination they say last team to arrive will be eliminated. If it isn't then they say May be eliminated. I hate the non elimination shows and cringe when I hear the word MAY!

No they don't. Last night they said MAY and it was an elimination round.

You're right I know Phil said "may" be eliminated, and we loved the idea of the brothers continuing the game dressed like they were :rotfl2: but sadly, they were eliminated.

The bottom line is Rob and Amber seem very happy and work well together. Maybe he makes most of the decisions, but she does not mind and they seem happy doing it. I have never seen another couple this happy (or lucky) in any of the AR's. :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc go Rob and Amber!! :moped:

The happiest couple I can recall are Chip and Kim from a couple of seasons back. They are probably my all time fave team on AR

I should have said the other seasons it was done that way. I was responding to a post that said that it used to be done this way. It was done this way up until this season. I read that it was stopped because everyone caught onto their little game.

I loved Chip and Kim, too. My favorite couple aside from them has been Kris and Jon from last season. They NEVER fought and I was so upset when they came in second. How can a couple of models who don't know what a stein is and who think water is red from blood rather than brine win AR?!? It's just not right and it still makes me mad!

Kris and Jon are my all time favorites! I'd love to see them come back for another try!

My point exactly. Someone wanted to know why the teams thought it would be an elimination round, and in my experience, the wording "Might" was the first clue.

If they changed this season and use that wording everytime, I haven't noticed. But that wouldn't be the first thing I've missed! :crazy2:

Me too! I wish they'd do an all-star Amazing Race.

I believe in season one Phil said "will" except when it was a non-elim and he said "may". Other seasons I don't know. And I'm sure it's just changes. I'm sure sometimes he says "may" even if it's non-elim. I have to admit, I have not been paying attention to that.

I think the brothers and the boyfriends were just planning ahead in case it was non-elim. It's one thing to lose money, but to lose all your stuff too. I'm guessing that more people are going to be doing the same thing if they believe they're going to be last. Why take the chance?

Just my rememberence, but the terms tend to be will until the first non-elimination round and that is the first time you will hear the may, then the rounds after that seem to be may, giving some mystery for the racers.
