THE AMAZING RACE #19 official thread. No Spoilers!! Premieres Sept. 25

Said to DH - if we had to do that - I think I'd just sit down and cry....because if others saw me in a bikini, they'd be crying too.....

All I can say is ... thank goodness we didn't have to see Laurence in a banana hammock!

Last night's dinner:
Vlaamse Stoverij - a beef stew with Belgium beer
Roasted brussel sprouts, cauliflower and sunchokes
Egg Noodles

Yep, if it were me, I would have taken the penalty (and lose). I really admire all of them because they did it even though they were very self-conscious. And the judges, they were harsh. They wanted an almost perfect routine.

No kidding. Those are nasty looking.

Kathy looks pretty darn good for her age in that suit.

Kathy does look pretty good for her age!

The challenge would have sucked (being in a bikini), but I told my DH what would have even be worse if you hadn't shaved in a while. I mean, during the race, you probably wouldn't be on top of shaving your bikini line every day, you know? :scared1:

DW said she'd rather do the bungee-jumping (afraid of heights) than have worn that bikini. She's actually about the same size as Amani in real life, but in her own eyes, she's 2x as big.

We were wondering the same thing about Cindy, whether they were bruises as a result of the race or birthmarks.

Here's hoping Marcus/Amani get the money, w/the boys and Cathy and Bill in the final 3. The other 2 couples have just too much whining going on, especially w/the women.

I thought it kind of looked like she just didn't get all the tanning/glossy oil rubbed in properly. The stuff was very dark, and her complexion is so pale, if she hadn't gotten it all rubbed in smoothly it could leave dark smudgy marks on her skin. :confused3

Did anyone else find it just a little bit "off" that a conductor *never* asked to see tickets during the second leg of the train journey, when Ernie and Cindy were technically "stowaways"?

We wondered if the producers might have worked a little behind-the-scenes mojo to keep things on track. Having one of the teams stranded THAT far behind the rest of the production crew - a whole country away - with no money to get another ticket and no other way to get there, might have presented some problems.

Maybe the camera crew that panned in on the dropped tickets picked them up, and the show producers presented them to the crew on the train and asked them to leave the racers alone? Maybe, after the interview that was given on the train where Ernie and Cindy were so worried, they actually DID come around asking for tickets and at that point the producers gave them to them and just didn't show that part on camera?? :confused3

You could see them as soon as she walked out of the changing area. They hadn't even gotten to the lotion area.

Hmmm, not sure then. I was helping DD with homework and wasn't paying much attention, only listening, until they got to the actual "posing" part.

I hope they included the most important- be sure to get a bikini wax before the Race begins in their what to bring packet!

I would think there should be some kind of penalty involved for taking the train without the tickets.

I was thinking the very same thing last night. Lost tickets can be "found" by the crew and turned in behind-the-scenes.

A few seasons back, someone lost a passport and the team got eliminated. In that instance, I don't remember any "gotcha" shots where the camera panned down to the lost item - so the crew probably didn't even see it - and, since it was something that could NOT be easily replaced and/or passed behind the scenes, TAR had no choice but to eliminate the team. :sad1:

I think Ernie and Cindy were VERY lucky in last night's episode.

You gotta love Phil!!!!

Although the conductor on the first leg could not do anything, I would think, if they were "caught", once they arrived in Brussels it could easily be checked on the computer at the terminal if tickets were bought and they would be exonerated.

Are you referring to his demo of the posing challenge? I thought that was great.

I know some of you don't like Cindy, but I really like her partner. He seems to have such a great, easy-going attitude.

I don't think they did let them win. I think the older couple was getting their bags out when the snowboarders showed up and as other teams have said before those two can run. If you watch as they get to the mat the snowboarders are running behind just as they show up and you can hear them say something like "You beat us".

I think if the foot race was longer they could have pulled ahead. Not sure if they would have though since it really doesn't matter for 2nd / 3rd.

I noticed in last night's show that the snowboarders left about 5 minutes after Bill/Cathi...so I guess B/C were actually a bit further ahead - it's so hard to tell with the editing!!

Anyone else notice that a certain team was missing from the previews for next week? I'm hoping they wouldn't make it that obvious.

Oh, and I LOVE Phil's posing!! :lovestruc

Just finished watching. This was definitely an "out of my comfort zone" episode! I would have quit at the sight of the spinning ride, much less the bikini on national television.:sad2:

That was very strange.

Since technically they were on the train illegally I think so to.

I noticed that too. Of course they could make this the upteenth non elimination leg of the season!
