THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

I agree with a PP about the gay guy team. They never lied to anyone about their sexuality, they just didn't offer it up as free information. And everyone flirts, and my gay friends flirt with girls all the time. So unlike the poker players, I don't really think they did anything sneaky.

Sorry to detract....

1. The gay guys think it funny they are being flirted with and stated that they will use that to their advantage and thus deceive the team(s) that attempt that.

2. If a heterosexual flirted with the same gender--wouldn't that be considered "wrong".

3. If we are to be accepting of others sexuality--we must be accepting of the fact that when they portray themselves to be anything other than their sexuality--then they are lying about it.

Can't have it both ways. If the girls are considered liars for not conveying their true profession in the name of the game, the boys are considered liars by not deflecting the flirtations with the truth instead of playing off of them.

But what we feel is wrong is for them to profess to be Christians and then act they way they do. This definately gives wrong impressions to Christians and non-Christians alike. Just because we're Christians doesn't mean we are perfect but it's all in the image that people have of us and for them to yell and scream at each other they way they did.....

Human nature sometimes trumps proper Christian behavior and WWJD. I find it a bit...can't think of the word. But I'm beginning to think that people are expecting nuns on reality shows when a professed Christian is on the television.

I found their yelling humorous and thought it funny that they showed the Christian couple in their plight as they did with the beauty queen, but everyone else looked like they were out picking daisies or something.

I'm not sure how anyone can expect perfection and proper Christian behavior in all circumstances, especially those that are stressful.

The show edited to the stereotype (practically professed perfect people falling from grace) and it worked.

As for the chaste "Newly Dating" couple ... I really don't care if they are getting it on or not and I don't care about the reasons why they don't. It's not my business and it's a little TMI when he says he wants to keep himself "sexually pure". Especially when his girlfriend is so smokin' hot. It also rubs me the wrong way when devoutly Christian players say that they pray to win.

I totally agree! ::yes::::yes:: I don't care who you are or are not sleeping with and the reasons for either decision. Implying they are better people/contestants because they loudly proclaim their faith and sexual purity comes across as very holier than thou :snooty: :snooty: and is a huge turnoff for me.

Yes! That's it. It's one thing if they were just flirty and closeted to the other racers ... but they are using the flirtation and being in the closet to their advantage. They then laugh and snicker behind their hands about being gay and really not at all interested.

I still stand by my pot/kettle/black comment. It doesn't seem right that they ratted out the poker players when they had a secret that they were actively hiding themselves.

I don't have a problem with the pokers players fibbing about their professions. Doesn't bother me in the least. But I thought they should try something that didn't require an explanation. Like social worker or full time students oppose to "we work for an organization that..."

Only one I don't like so far is the lawyer.

In your opinion of course.

I wouldn't trade my college education in the south for any of your schools up there. Nothing personal, I just believe in the hype that big name expensive schools are the best. :goodvibes :teacher:

But, that is neither here nor there. :thumbsup2

I think its pretty obvious at this point that most people disagree with the viewpoint of the guy who thinks accents make people seem dumb. No one is going to change his mind, so how about we move on and back to TAR?

As for the rolling backpacks, DH and I noticed and mentioned them too. I saw one of the bags flipping over numerous times on the sidewalk and said that has GOT to be more annoying than wearing a backpack!

DH was another one who was rooting for the yogies to find the last plate so that Mr. Muscles wouldn't make it. Alas, it was not to be. Hopefully his team will be one of the next teams gone.

I agree Angel, I keep telling Britt to go to college down south lol. :flower3:

I watched the Elimination Station and it didn't show the first team there??? It showed Garrett and Jessica, but not the yoga teachers.

:confused3

Did they just send the yoga teachers home home? Or are they going to be coming back at some time? :confused3

BTW, SPOILER from the Elimination Station:
-Garrett proposed to Jessica and she said yes.

Actually I can have it both ways, which is the great thing about opinions. My opinion is still that the gay guys didn't do anything wrong. :goodvibes

I agree, they have not lied to anyone. Do people really to expect others to tell them if they are straight or gay when they introduce themselves???

I was really wishing the jerk lawyer couple would be eliminated right from the start, I liked the couple that did get eliminated. So sad to not even be able to go on one leg of the race before getting eliminated. :(

I hope the jerk lawyer couple goes home soon!!

I really liked the father/son-with-pink-hair. I wanted to like the older dating couple but the woman is nuts!

It'll take a couple weeks or so to decide on some of the other teams.

Did I imagine it or did anyone else see one of the teams, during the 1st road block "Wasabi", that lead their group through what looked like a peacefull protest.

I swear that the one team walked thru a group of people standing there with signs and banners, all wearing the same t-shirt. It looked like they were standing in front of an office build.

You didn't imagine it. There are almost always protesters at that crossing and outside of the Shibuya Station. We were there several times back in April and we saw people with those shirts, as well as at least another 5 different groups with signs, shirts, and/or bullhorns.

Also, there was a small part a little later where one of the teams was asking two women for directions, the women sounded and looked American, I think. Behind them was this yellowish building that looked kind of like a cartoonish castle. That was the Disney Store...it's just a couple of blocks at most from that busy crossing.

No ... but I also don't expect people to pretend a sexual preference to attempt to gain an advantage in the race. I don't care if they are gay or straight and I don't case if they are in or out of the closet. My issue with them is that they have a scheme to pretend to be straight and butter up the female teams. They are being "himbos".

I don't think they are pretending to be straight just because they flirt.

They said that they were going to pretend to be straight so they could throw the women off their game.

I don't have a problem with anyone using any tactics that they think will get them further in the game. The only problem I have is when a team purposely tries to sabotage other teams like the one team did last year.

IMHO, mind games are fair games.

It's my impression that while the gay guys are not hiding their "gayness", they are not going to profess it to all that they are gay. If the poker players or any other team thinks that they are straight, then they are not going to tell them any different. Which is totally different than the poker players telling everyone something that wasn't true.

You could say that the gay guys are lying by obmission in a way if you want to go that far. The poker players when asked what they do could have said they were in business for themselves, which is true. If pressed further about what kind of business, could have said making as much money as I can. There are many things that they could have said to beat around the bush without right out lying about their profession and how successful they were.

Not that I care. I like the poker players and this is a game, but I don't think that it was a good move to lie right off the bat to everyone.

I don't expect them to.

But they are creating a false impression none the less and have stated that they will do so with the flirting since the girls think they are straight.

My issue is that one team is hated for creating a false impression and the other team is celebrated for doing so.

I don't care what they choose to do--but I won't hate one team for lying or creating a false impression while ignoring the fact that another team is doing it as well.

I may have made A judgment on ONE couple = the Christians. They stated on TAR that they are devote Christians yet when the girlfriend could not complete the challenge in a timely manner her boyfriend got so mad, so upset, so angry which to me and many people is not the Christian way. That is ALL I SAID. I did not call anyone a loud mouth meat head EVER.

You on the other hand INSULTED the entire section of the Northeast of the US!! My DH is from N.E. CT., he has an even stronger New England accent than myself and my sons from Boston. Believe me we are NOT dolts as you continue to post that in every one of your replies. We were born in Boston, raised in Boston, that is our accent and there is nothing we can do about it. To continue to call us dolts is really rude. :headache:

AND for the record...being new to SoCal, we go to restaurants, stores, banks, etc and as we talk, order, or simply just have a convo with someone in SoCal...they LOVE our accent and immediately pick up on it and then say..."you must be from the EAST"!!! :thumbsup2 We have NEVER had someone call us a DOLT. :headache:

:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Just to lighten the mood a bit, it's funny that where you live in the US affects your perception of regional accents. I worked with a project manager who had a thick Massachusetts accent and when I open my mouth all people need to ask is what part of New York (City) am I from. Yet when we were working with a client in Kansas they all thought we sounded alike. So, I guess we were just grouped into an 'east coast' accent. Wicked funny :lmao:
