THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

The only thing I want to see about the poker chicks is if Tiffany is who I think she is, she was the last woman out in last years WSOP Main Event and she was a total ***** then. I think the guy that recognized them said something to the effect that she finished top 15, so that would be her. I need to check to be sure.

I don't expect them to.

But they are creating a false impression none the less and have stated that they will do so with the flirting since the girls think they are straight.

My issue is that one team is hated for creating a false impression and the other team is celebrated for doing so.

I don't care what they choose to do--but I won't hate one team for lying or creating a false impression while ignoring the fact that another team is doing it as well.

The poker players didn't create a false impression; they lied about what they do. The brothers haven't said anything. Again, why should someone say anything about their sexual preference?

I remember him asking her if she made the top 15.

....As for the chaste "Newly Dating" couple ... I really don't care if they are getting it on or not and I don't care about the reasons why they don't. It's not my business and it's a little TMI when he says he wants to keep himself "sexually pure". Especially when his girlfriend is so smokin' hot. It also rubs me the wrong way when devoutly Christian players say that they pray to win.
See I thought just the opposite. How nice for once to have "role models" with decent values on TV. Usually all you see is quick cheap sex so I was very happy to see somebody standing up for good moral values! As far as the pray to win thing, I think that was lighthearted humor. And really, what does the fact that she was "smokin' hot" have to do with it?

I certainly wouldn't hold Mr. Purity Ring Poster Boy up to my DD as a ROLE MODEL :rotfl:. Most teens have sex ... I would rather she be proactive in that department and not with her head in the sand until it's too late and she's pregnant. The state of Texas had "Abstinence Only" sex ed in their schools. They also had the highest teen pregnancy rate and the highest repeat teen pregnancy rate! "Sexual purity" does not work.

You're probably right.
And really, what does the fact that she was "smokin' hot" have to do with it?
She is so darn "smokin' hot" (as is he) it makes me wonder how long they will actually be able to keep their hands off each other. Now ... that thought would not have even crossed my mind if he didn't bring up his "sexual purity".

I was really wishing the jerk lawyer couple would be eliminated right from the start, I liked the couple that did get eliminated. So sad to not even be able to go on one leg of the race before getting eliminated. :(

I hope the jerk lawyer couple goes home soon!!

I really liked the father/son-with-pink-hair. I wanted to like the older dating couple but the woman is nuts!

It'll take a couple weeks or so to decide on some of the other teams.

I have to agree with the older team lady being nuts. She was trying to get them to skip down the road. :rotfl:

I hope the father/son team go far or at least get something they are looking for out of doing this together.

I never got the impression that the gay brothers were overly flirting. :confused3 And I don't think they need to state their sexual preferences to anyone. I don't think they are not trying to act NOT gay. Matter of fact I thought one other team already mentioned, I think those guys are gay? Again, not sure why it even matters. :confused3

Okay, I'll throw my hat into the ring. LOL!!!....

I don't think for one second that the poker player being recognized so early in the game was a coincidence. The producers need drama, and except for the moronic buffed attorney, there was none. As to their game plan, whatever. If the only way they can win the game is to lie and deceive, then so be it. It is not how I would choose to play, and also not how I would want others to play. In the end though, it is their decision and they have to live with the consequences of it.

As far as the young Christian couple goes..... I think this is where editing really comes into play. I think every moment of "un-Christian-like" behavior they exhibit will make it on the air. Christians losing their temper and messing up makes for great tv, but Christians asking for forgiveness for their behavior or being nice to each other and others is kind of BORING. It is no big surprise which actions make it onto the show. Also, we don't know what question he was asked when he made his "sexually pure' comment. He may have been asked several times if they were sleeping together and declined to answer, and finally after being badgered, made his comment. I don't know what all happened during that interview. I wasn't there. I only see what they want me to see.

I was thinking about the different teams last night and I remembered that Mika & Canaan and are not the first team to profess their "sexual purity". There are certain archetypes on the show when it comes to the producers either selecting or "spinning" the teams.

We have:

The Devoutly Christian Team (subset: Waiting-For-Marriage Team)
The Gay Team
The Older Team
The Sibling Team
The Parent/Child Team (subset: Absent-Father-Making-Up-For-Lost-Time Team)
The Disability Team
The Villain Team
The Best Buddies Team
The Laid Back/Hippies Team
The Married Team (subset: Marriage-In-Trouble Team)
The Dating Team (subset: Engaged Team)

Can you add to the list?

I think this is the case with every team, though. Bad behavior makes good TV, so they will always show us every players worst moments. For example, I don't assume the lawyer is as bad IRL as he appeared on episode one, but this is the character that's being portrayed on the show, and what we see is all we have to go on when commenting on the show.

I'm not going to excuse any of the Christian couple's bad behavior (not that I thought they displayed any yet) as "editing" just because they're Christian. If I were to do that, I'd do it for every team. IMO, anything else would be very un-Christian of me. ;)

We don't disagree. I, too, think we will see every player at his/her worst. However, because this couple professes a Christian faith, their less than stellar behavior is what gets talked about. The duck herding is a great example. He wasn't the only one to lose his patience and his cool while his partner struggled, but he is the one that was mentioned.

I also didn't suggest that only the Christian couple is the only team that will fall victim to editing. I. personally, try to keep it in mind for ALL the teams. However, even then, there are some teams/individuals that I just don't care for -- even when they are being shown in a positive light. The lawyer is one of those people. Even when watching him though, I try to remind myself that he could be nothing like what he is being portrayed as.

All I'm saying is that we wil probably not see the moments when people apologize and/or ask for forgiveness. I just try to remember that doesn't mean they didn't happen.

Poker Team:

"Who's that?"

"The team we call the HOT guys."

Brothers:
"That chick is laughing."
"They're probably trying to flirt."

"yeah"

cut to interview clip
"With both of us being gay, I'm sure there is going to be some all girl teams who are all going to be 'we're going to flirt with the guys and destract 'em'. "

"It's too our advantage."

Seems to me a plan to deceive--of course only my impression.

For some reason, I find the brothers not coming out to the other players less of an issue than the poker players lying about their profession. I think that the omission is the lesser of two evils in this case. The poker players were trying to play on the other teams sympathies. The brothers intend on using other teams assumptions to their advantage. I guess the brothers would be honest if asked directly, but we'll have to wait to see what happens.

Well said! :thumbsup2

Sounds logical to me. I think it comes down to whether you think lying by omission is lying or merely leaving out details you want to keep private. I subscribe to the latter.

If they out right lie about it though, my opinion will change. For example, if they are asked if they are gay and say no, it is a lie. If they are asked and don't want to disclose it I would have no issue with their response being "none of you business", because it isn't.

Yup Yup! I lie by omission often. :rotfl:

Don't forget the "I want to be and Actor/Actress/Model Team"

I feel the same way.

I think the poker girls know the brothers are gay, or at least strongly suspect. At the airport counter, they were commenting on their passport holders and said something like "we're trying to figure out if you're gay." I personally wouldn't say that to a person unless I was pretty sure, or unless I knew him well enough to know he wouldn't take it as an insult (because even though I don't feel there is anything wrong with being gay, I know that some people still do).

The guys response was just to laugh, they didn't say yes or no. To me, that's not lying, it's just keeping it private.
