THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

Tonight's show was great...couldn't believe the 2 teams left their stuff in their taxis. Kisha and Jenn got lucky finding a taxi driver who would take them to the pit stop for free.

Those were some major penalties, but I'm loving it cuz those brothers really seem to push the limits sometimes. Plus I just don't like them. ;)

I was surprised that the girls didn't get a penalty also. Is there a difference in not paying for something (the free ride) and trading for the ride?

I know, this new rule is confusing:confused3
Should the brothers gone around begging for money, would of that been accepted?
I know in the past when they are in a non-elimination round, they would start the next leg with no money, so they had to beg and ask for money?

So the ladies asked the taxi driver for a free ride, and the brothers gave items? Its actually sort of dumb to me. I do agree, rules are rules, and must be followed.
I just feel this new rule makes no sense.:confused3

My guess is they implemented the bartering rule to prevent people from packing expensive trinkets just to barter with. I think it is a good rule.

Luke is really getting on my nerves. He is fine as long as things are going well, but as soon as they don't he whines and whines. Can't stand that (and no, that doesn't have to do with his deafness). Like the teeth thing last night, geesh, that wasn't that hard and he whined the whole time. I do like Margie, but Luke drives me nuts!

I was dying when the brothers were talking about the "girls" in their cab. I couldn't tell if they were serious or not, but I don't think they realized they were trannies:lmao:

I wonder if the penalties were extra long because it was their third and fourth penalty. I don't remember anyone having that many penalties before so maybe the race has it set up to prevent intentional penalties. Like, the first two penalties are for 30 minutes, the next two penalties are two hours, the next two are four hours. It would make sense and seem to keep people from trying to break the rules to their advantage.

That's a good thought. I was wondering how bartering warrants a 2 hour penalty whereas tampering with other racers was only a 30 minute penalty.

I guess there must be a rule that people have to have travel documents with them to check in. I just figured, they could check in and then go get their stuff. Maybe they're not allowed to leave the pitstop.

I can NOT imagine going off on that boat and leaving behind passports and money, at the very least. Not sure why they thought leaving their packs was a good idea either.

I agree. I used to like Margie and Luke, but Luke seems like a spoiled kid. I'm rooting for Mark and Michael, but I think it will be pretty tough for them to overcome their penalty.

I agree about Luke.

That cracked me up with the brothers were talking about the girls "the good looking girls" :rotfl::rotfl:

I agree, Luke is a big baby.

I don't like that rule of no bartering. In many parts of the world, therer is still alot of bartering going on.

On another note, why are they having so many problems with money? Are they getting ripped off. I was sure they were told that the cab ride back to the boat yard would cost 200. When they got there they were told 400 and paid it without saying a word. :confused3

I've been watching this show for the last 4 seasons, and I have never seen anyone fight to get to the box. Luke is a spoiled baby! I dont blame Jen for reacting the way she did, he shoved her, if I was her, I would have knocked him down! I used to be a fan of the red heads, but I dont like how rude they are! They are so lucky they have cameras on them, because they wouldnt get away with that crap otherwise!

Welcome to Bangkok...LOL
Loved the katooey's in the cab. When were were last in Thailand I was pregnant and we went to a bar. I found a "lady drink" on the drink menu so I thought maybe it was a non-alcholic one...so I asked what it was. It's where you order a drink and a "lady" comes and sits with you...needless to say I didn't order one. the cab ride really brought back some memories.

LOL!! Yeah, those "girls" looked like they were used to doing more than just karaoke in the cabs.

I agree with others about Luke....I really hope his childish behavior next week gets them booted off!

this must be a new rule with the no trades for rides because they always did that in past seasons. I think it was last season when one of the teams tried to convince the cab driver that their watch was well worth the cab ride cost and the driver showed them his Rolex on his wrist :rotfl:

I noticed that too, I mentioned it to my hubbie who wasn't listening and he wasn't sure so now I know I'm not crazy! :rotfl: Hubbie did bring up the fact that there used to be some bartering going on in the older shows. I think the girls didn't get penalized because they told the driver that they did not have money and he "agreed" to their situation.

I wonder if it's possible that someone in the past bartered with something that was a no/no, and that's why they made the rule. Or even somewhere that it was not allowed or someone got in trouble for accepting a bartered item.

That happened this season in Russia.

Yeah, that was pretty funny! But I have to admit that I didn't realize those were guys until Tammy yelled out, "Mai Tai trannies!" :confused3 lol

And yeah, the no bartering rule must be new this season. But either way, you would think Mark & Mike should know that, unless the contestants weren't given the rules beforehand.. which I doubt! :sad2:

Hello everyone! I'm a long time watched of the show and just thought I'd add in my $0.02.

With regards to the penalties from last week, for those kind of penalties, it used to be that the time would only be for the time benefit received.

It looks like now for minor penalties, the minimum is 30 minutes. I don't know how the bartering is not minor. Maybe if the girls didn't get the free cab ride, the bartering would be considered minor.

I rewound to watch the preview a second time.

Luke was at the clue box, opening it up, when Jenn came up behind him and put her hands on his shoulders, so he threw an elbow. I'm thinking he's standing there getting his clue and all of a sudden, somebody grabs him - he has no idea who, cuz he couldn't hear them approaching. So maybe that is why?

The second clue box? Well...I guess we'll find out next week!

I agree with Luke not hearing Jenn come up behind her and just reacting when she put her hands on him.

While I don't know if they talked about it at all while at this pitstop....but I am going to guess that the first clue box incidence next week with Jenn is because they are ill with Margie & Luke. On last night's show when both cab driver's were trying to find their way to the boat dock with M&L's cabbie following K&J's and they both stopped....K&J's driver took back off still not knowing where it was....and M&L's driver stopped again and asked someone else where it was. K&J made the comment that M&L had their driver tell K&J's driver the wrong directions.....I don't believe that was true.....so the shove next week is probably because of this grudge. :confused3

As for leaving the bags.....silly, silly, silly mistake. I was though very impressed by Tammy & Victor at the mat when they were so supportive of Keisha & Jenn having to go and get their bags....they said go, don't panic....go fast you have time, you can do it!

My thoughts on last night's show:

I still love Margie- Luke is annoying me. She really does do a lot of the task work and I admire her spirit and attitude. She rocked at both tasks! Luke seems to get frustrated veryyy easily.

Keisha and Jen- I reallly wish Jen would have INSISTED they go back for their bags. I mean to leave the passport and money on the dock? :headache: I hope from here on out Keisha will listen a bit more to her sister. But overall, I still like their game. I too think they're mad at M/L over the cab direction 'incident' (which wasn't really anything).

Tammy and Victor- good job this week!

Cara and Jamie- I cannot stand them. What in the world did the one girl think about people not speaking much English? Her attitude is sooo ugly- I can't stand it. I want them to come in last on the next leg.

Mark and Michael. Sigh. I wanted so badly for them to do well and they keep screwing up. It's mostly Mark IMO with the stinky attitude and making some dumb decisions. I cannot believe they got a FOUR HOUR penalty for bartering- I wish AR would tell the audience, 'a new rule we implemented this season is XYZ'. Or that it would clearly state it somewhere in a clue.

I am a lurker on this thread - and have been watching AR for the past 3 seasons (so somewhat a newbie to the show) - but I just had to put my two cents in on the bartering penalty too.

I don't think it's fair that M&M got penalized like that - regardless of rules - because the sisters got free rides. Women will always get free rides because they are pretty, cute, exotic (to that country), etc. How many cabs do you think the brothers would have had to ask before they got free rides too??? I don't think they could have gotten any free rides. But they got penalized because they tried to pay the cabs with some money, instead of getting stuff for free. I'm guessing that taxi cab drivers aren't weathly there, so some money is better than no money.
